I'm so impressed with Paul Rubens and their beautiful packaging, and I think these student-grade offerings are as beautiful as their professional artist-grade offereings. I love the checkerboard tubes! Love the journal, too -- that style is absolutely perfect for nature & travel journaliing. Great review, wonderful demos, thank you!

Good question! I will go over it more in the leaf tutorial, but as an answer to your question it’s when you add water or more liquid-y paint to your wash that is either partially dry or fully dry. The added water “wakes up” the watercolor you’ve already put down on the paper and makes it run in a starburst-like pattern. Sometimes you want them, sometimes you don’t!
