The good thing with multifilaments is you don't hurt your arm until they break. Poly is dangerous when it is becoming dead but amateurs still feel it plays ok, so leave it on. Then after a while arm fatigue and chronic pain can arrive. For players who are very high level of course poly is the only way, even in a gut hybrid it is perfect. Just gotta know to cut the string bed after maximum 15h-20h of play, less of course for higher level. About hybriding, gut mains is ideal to really feel the gut and not waste money. Otherwise, for people who play with topspin but don't break a lot and have to keep strings on a racket a little longer, multifilament is the way. X-One Biphase definitely has more topspin than gut, and Triax quite a lot. Apparently Head Velocity stays very steady in terms of good topspin too.

I've been very pleased with Head Velocity 16 ga. in natural color. Much, much more comfortable than poly strings.

For sure almost all Multis will be more comfortable than almost all Polys! We have a breakdown video of each string type dropping next week.

I'm a 70 year old male, USTA 3.0, so my control is variable and I can't blame the strings, I have arm issues as well, so unless there is an arm friendly poly, I can't compare those. I currently have two racquets that I like for slightly different reasons in my bag; Wilson Blade 104 v8 with x-one biophase and a Volkl Volstra 4 with a full VS gut (so plush.) These two racquets do not match in balance and weight, but I keep switching between them to test the strings and which racquet I prefer to play with. Unfortunately, these swaps haven't helped me determine the best string set up. Since my serve seems more consistent with the Blade, I am thinking about stringing it with gut. Or should I experiment with trying to customize the Volkl with weight and balance of the Blade? I thought I'd wait until the Volkl's gut needed to be replaced to try this but so far the gut is holding up for (I have no gauge to measure tension) Other than playing golf do you have any Suggestions?

I had suffered from tennis elbow and Natural Gut allowed me to play without pain. Your analysis is right. I'm a flat hitter and to have a little more spin my hybrid setup is Alu power Rough on mains at 23 Kg and X-One Biphase at 22 Kg on cross.

IS this a multi / Gut hybrid set up? :)

Couple of points. ERSA magazine had an article where Hawkey had no significance in spin reduction over poly strings. Control yes. Which brings me to Feel. I dont think most amateur or even pro level players know what feel realy means. If its so good at feel, then why is control such a factor. If you can feel the ball better then you can make those micro adjustments, but the control tests say otherwise. Unless your swinging slower, giving you more time to adjust. So instead of just saying feel and it being some random personal thing, explain it. So the average person knows what you mean. Because I dont think most people know the difference. Especialy if they have always played with a certain string and change. What exactly are they supposed to expect. Generic "feel" isnt good enough,

Love the feedback, thank you! We're always trying to get better at this so will have a go next time

Good point. I'd say first of all there is the "crisp" aspect with feel. Biphase for example is supposed to be the closest to gut. I'd say it plays similar but gut is way more crisp with the same comfort. Biphase and many multifilaments will feel comfortable but more cushioned. Also part of the feel high level players talk about is the precision of where you feel you want the ball. Anyway there also are many pros want very dead feeling poly strings, they openly say they like the feel of no feel haha, so it really is a personal thing. Usually people who like the feel of a full gut bed play a flatter ball, those who play heavy topspin and want the touch of gut hybrid it with poly.

What do you like about VCore100? I have one & couldn really gel with too much power it brings. I use EZ98 & Prince tour 100p

It's a racket we can all get along with so makes it easier to test strings without the racket getting in the way so to speak. This is essentially because we feel it's about the best 'All-Rounder', giving enough of everything

I have a Head Radical MP but I am flat hitting lefty. Would like to increase its power over spin. Any suggestions on the best setup for me? Greatly appreciate it

Do you want to change racket or just the strings? If just the strings, then which strings are you currently using?

I want to give my Radical a chance because I just recently bought it but I also tried/liked the Ezone100. My problem is the Radical gives me elbow/wrist pain. I do not remember what string I currently had put in it but my tension was 51lbs. I’m considering a hybrid setup? Any way I can somehow expand it’s sweet spot at the same time increasing it’s power?

What do you think about Head Velocity MLT?

Recently had a fullbed of MLT 17 black @ 55lb on my 2022 Head Extreme Tour. I did not like it at that tension on that racquet. It was way too launchy, but at least it was comfortable. Let me know if you have any other questions.

Great content! After much tinkering I am settled that hybrids work best for me. If I want predominant feel & pop Gut mains with slick/round polys work amazing and last 2-3x linger than other setups. Question is IF I want a hybrid with more spin/crispness a shaped poly in mains may tear up gut crosses faster. So what are best crosses to soften up a shaped/spin main string? Think of someone playing a Pure Drive who wants to control power with spin….but use a cross that softens up the stringbed a bit without taking away spin? Thanks!!

I love ReString Sync as a cross in a Hybrid - adds loads of control back and is round and slick so you get plenty of snapback too

I have tryed all Tecnifibre strings . For me the best multi is X-One Biphase, 2nd Triax, 3rd NRG2 and 4th Multifeel.Triax and NRG2 are similar . Multifeel is like Head Velocity MLT.

Won't natgut make power racket too powerful? My multifilament feels like that

We'd suggest stringing at a higher tension than you would usually - this should help!

Gut all day. Multi doesn't last anywhere near as long in a hybrid with poly crosses. I got 2.5 hours with 4 different multis but I got 8 hours with gut .mains
