There's already alot of simple mods out for the Pilot to shoot half darts and mega darts. I think it's a fun pistol. I saw 3D printed shells for the Pilot which I think is great. Open the breach, pop in a shell (half dart, mega, etc) and fire.

I think the Pilot's biggest selling point is actually how easy it is to mod. All you need is a couple inches of pvc and some electrical tape and boom you have a 150+ fps short dart shooter! All of this combined costs less than $25. Plus there are easily constructed inline clips as well if you're willing to do a little more handiwork. I've seen some that hold up to 5 short darts! IMO this is what makes the Pilot a lot better than the Knockout.

​@@CosmicGaijin The PVC has a smaller inner diameter, so it can fire short-darts. The short darts generally travel faster than rival rounds, and the barrel can be even longer to maximise the use of the plungers volume! Super cool! 😎

You have to appreciate the fact that Nerf put out a rival jolt with it being the one blaster that most people likely wrote off as as a pass especially at its price. Yet somehow instead it ended up getting tons of mods for it right out the gate and being better than it has any right to be.

You mean the Knockout? One of those mod kits makes it into a spring powered Demolisher Missile launcher. Look up the _"Meaker Mk28"_ from Meaker Arms.

I bought a Buzz bee double barrel like 10 years ago that has actual shells. you charge it by opening the breach. it pulls some string and loads the spring for 2 shots. you then put in the 2 darts in their shells. when shot the shells will fly out as soon as you open the breach and fly out super satisfying. if you only shot one it only threw one shell out. it wasnt very high quality or good but it was cheap and the coolest feeling nerf i had as a kid.

I think the big benefit over the knockout is not having to shove the handle back in to shoot. The knockout feels like you have to finish a pre-flight checklist in order to shoot it every time. 4 steps versus 3.

This thing's cool! As an at-home plinker though I'll go with the Knockout everytime, but maybe for a weird reason; fidget factor. The Knockout has so many steps, open beach, put in ball, close breach, pull priming handle, push priming handle back, fire. And for me that's more satisfying overall having that many operations to complete to fire a ball. But, as stated, maybe that's weird of me.

I used to watch your videos reguarly years ago but fell out of the hobby. I saw one of these with a couple of friends and we all decided to get one to mess around with and I thought of this channel. I had a lot of fun when I was a kid even if I couldn't afford anything but a Maverick thanks to you. The production quality has gone up a lot but you can't replace the vibe, never change man.

I think one of the best selling points of the knock out is the easy and cheap mods. They're about as drop in as drop in can get and pretty difficult to mess up printing. Mega is my favorite ammo type and being able to have a really high power pocket mega blaster is awesome. Even better is the short darts in line clip. With that you get 3 dart capacity blaster that fires over 100 fps with minimal modding for $11. I think this is going to help a lot of skeptical people get into higher FPS Foam flinging especially at that price. $11 for over 100fps short dart blasting is absolutely unmatched in the hobby.

Am I the only one thinking of a proper double barrel using this style of loading? I don’t think nerf would make it but another company could. make it have a heavy prime so you can triple load and still get good performance. Like a pump action double barrel with slam fire that’ll let you shoot 6 balls and then you open the breach and shove some more in.
