" The gearbox, it's a little...uhh, agricultural" BEST LINE IN ANY MOTO VIDEO EVER!!! Love it! Here in early 2022, I am looking at exactly this bike. Only 6300 miles for under $8k. I'm worried about the reliability as I want to use it as my long-distance sport-tourer and definitely don't want to get stuck. My 500cc would be a tough go on a 15-20 day all-road adventure here in the states. The multi looks like the best choice in the sport-tour segment but would like to hear from other owners with "older" bikes. Excellent vid! Subscribed. Cheers

Top review Mr C - these are superb bikes aren't they, I particularly like the graphics kit you have on that, looks really nice. I was very close to getting one of these, but I just found it a little too quick for my purposes + it felt a lot heavier than the GS (with it's low down centre of gravity)...as you say these modern "adventure" machines are just top notch as all rounders - if I could only have one bike from all the machines I've owned it would defo be the big adventure toy. Ride safe matey - all the best - TMF. P.S. Lovin' that MRA screen...

+roger wood yeah I thought about that Kwak. I think you will notice the quality of the Ducati is better than the Kwak. The twin engine is addictive and I was worried about the inline 4 being dull. Lot of those Kwaks about and not a 'special' bike like the Duc. Probably cheaper to run and bits are cheaper. Test ride is always worth a go.

I'm looking at the bmw s1000xr for my next bike, which is based on the same principle as this bike. I'm not too keen on big twins (tested a Monster 1200S Stripe a few months ago), they vibrate so damn much and as you mentioned they are a bit swampy low in the revs. I think I'm set in my ways and like the smoothness of an inline triple/four. Did you have any regrets soon after getting this or were you happy from the get go?
@TheCrumble9 жыл бұрын
+gizzmo84 Always have regrets! But the bike has grown and grown on me. I tried a Triumph Tiger 800 the other day just to see if I'd made the right choice and the Multi felt head and shoulders above it in terms of quality and excitement. The twin thing can be irritating but the torque is bloody addictive!!

Hey crumble Really considering one of these for next years big trips I already have the new speed RS which as you know is an absolute belter and a riot to ride but did a long trip to Spain on it and my neck and arse were killing me by the time I got back (bloody fantastic in the picos tho) Just got back from a fantastic few days riding in Gran Canaria on a hired 950 multistrada and absolutely loved it apart from the clutch being like an on off switch and the clunky gearbox So did you have and problems with your 1200 and do you think it's worth the extra for the S? I've seen a few 2010 models up at £5-6000, would be nice to have a second bike that I can put the big miles on and save the speed for the fun sunny days 😃 Cheers Steve

The Multi interests me, but with the dirt roads I traverse occasionally, my Honda CBR600F4i handles it perfectly, and they are covered in pretty rough in spots, guys on BMW GS look at me perplexed wondering how I got there. So it begs the question....why change? I also think I prefer clip ons rather than the sit up position of the Multi.
@Ff60229 жыл бұрын
Nice. If you add a decat pipe it sorts that low end out and transforms the bike, even without a remap. How's the MRA screen, thinking of getting one, did you have the original to compare too?

Nice, and a great review. Never tried a modern twin, but the Tiger Sport 1050 has the same idea, shoehorning a sport engine into an adventure frame, with similar pros and cons. I've found very low speed (5-10mph) filtering can be tricky somethimes without a blip or clutch feathering. Cornering and torque are excellent though :) As you had sport and adventure Triumphs, did you ever consider the Tiger Sport or take a test ride, or was it just time for a complete change?

Hi Rog! Mine has 13000 on it now. Done 4000 miles since last August. Things I like: Very fast-an exciting bike to ride All day comfy Great tech on the bike-modes are actually useful. Engine is nuts Best clocks ever Looks different Suspension is best I've ever tried Handles great Things I don't like: A big bugger to control-engine is long legged-no good for commuting through tight traffic My clutch is grabby Service costs. Mine due a Desmo service at 15k=£600. Thirsty Always had niggling doubts about reliability (had no issues though) Splays my legs at speed giving me thigh pain! Accessories are bloody expensive-still can't afford an exhaust! Try and get one with some bits. Things like luggage and heated grips and maybe a can will save you a lot of time and money. Check service history and try and get one that's had the Desmo service recently done! Overall a great bike. A fast comfy tourer. A sports bike on stilts! Good luck!
