Absolutely worth it! I got one before I had any idea how bad my sleep was and it showed me scary desaturations that helped convince my doc to order a sleep study. It has worked flawlessly every night for over a year. I find the wrist and finger version more comfortable and use my pinky finger as I am a big guy, no problems. I use Windows and once set up per OSCAR instructions downloads are many fewer steps than you show-takes seconds. Make sure to sync the clocks in the apps and all data will line up nicely. One feature not mentioned was the O2 sat vibration alarm, which can be set at any level you choose. When you have horrible sleep issues, this is definitely a useful data tool to help figure things out before, and after, starting CPAP.

It's technically a endless sleep study than the one night sleep study you get at the clinic. But if it shows an issue, it prompts to get a sleep study to confirm. Also it helps to tell you turn over when your oxygen drops and probably due to sleeping on your back. But then again, it can also be the other way around and make you anxious.

I bought this ring to show me the difference in oxygen readings when I use cpap machine and not. The readings are much lower when not using the machine so in my opinion it was worth the purchase just to see the difference. Syncs well with sleep hq

Wellue ring saved my life. A year of miserable health and non-conclusive medical tests of every variety. The ring revealed multiple desaturations to 82% during the night....and also during the day. Gave the results to my doctors and was finally dx with severe desaturations secondary to PFO. Had the closure and got my life back. Highly recommend the O2 ring!

Reminder to everyone, sleeping on your side reduces blood flow to your hand. I have set my ring off buzzing a few times and my hand is cold and/or asleep. I've done it while I was awake laying in bed and had my fist up against my shoulder. If anyone wishes to sound off on their nonCPAP 4% drops, please do. I'm averaging 9 per 7 hours slept, no CPAP. I was diagnosed with 17 AHI sleep apnea, but I was drinking every day at the time. Plus, very out of shape. I decided I'd rather be able to breath instead of enjoying Jack and Coke every evening. My BMI was 30 when I took the test, and I am apple shaped, tons of visceral fat. I starting walking every day and doing low carb. Just the last two nights I slept for 7.5 hours, much better than my usual 5.5. Pretty sure my apnea was giving me insomnia every morning around 4 am.

I want to thank you for recommending the Hurricane. I got one, but it cost dearly in Canadian funds. LOL That machine is awesome though, and it was damaged when it arrived. The basket was not secured in the case and the lid had a chunk of plastic out of it and a crack in the lid. I tried to report it to Amazon, but I could not get anywhere using their stupid questions. So I did write a review and did mention the damage. I don't want to return it because it would just take forever to get a new machine in a timely manner. I waited three + weeks for this one.

Jason, you "forgot" to mention the o2ring also tracks movement...which can be usefull to explain temporary raises/peaks in pulse rate! ;-) I was hoping to hear you explaining where "safe" and healthy oxygen levels should be at during sleep, when using this particular ring...by this I mean, how accurate is the real-life readings if compared to a professional FDA approved oxygen device for medical use? Non of the company's rings are FDA approved(even though one of their sales people tried to convince me otherwise....fda "evaluated" or "listed"(as the terms they like to advertise their o2rings) , is NOT the same as fda approved for medical use....and they should know this, as they sell other(more expensive) medical devices which actually has fda approval....I don't like it when campanies mislead....makes the trust in the company(and it's products) lower than what is comfortable(to me at least).
@jeannettew3868

To be honest, the O2 ring is very accurate because I had to wear my ring and a professional approved oxygen device to also check if they are giving the same readings and it did. So not one device saying 88% and the other 95%. I am now going into some tests to see if the doctors can track what my problem is with all those saturation drops Iam having.

Been using this to help determine proper pressure for CPAP (after suffering through APAP until I figured out CPAP was better) because I’m having to use a ResVent iBreeze and I can’t get the data into OSCAR on my Mac so that I can see what’s going on. So far, it’s served it’s purpose well. Waiting on DME to get me my machine covered by insurance. Bought the iBreeze out of pocket because after seeing my sleep test results, I was afraid to go to sleep without therapy. Oscar doesn’t recognize the SD card from the iBreeze.

Exactly the same for me. Using an iBreeze CPAP and used an O2 ring to dial in on the precise pressure setting I need over the course of a few weeks. I still wear the ring every night but likely I’ll soon just wear it once a week as a check to see if anything needs adjusting.

I want to read all of your comments, just reporting something before, been using it for a year I adhore it apart the accuracy, this ring is terrorizing me most of the times, there's something definitely wrong. Shows so many desaturations and extremely low readings too often. Compared with regular one and viatom checkme pro with probe. Even nightly monitoring on the same finger. Now the tricky part that is driving me crazy, on other people even elders, it shows proper readings! Even monitored my sister at night with both, while it does show lower readings it still is on the okay side. I will try to show readings this morning on the same finger with two different, and at times it had 8% difference for no less than 30 seconds, might even upload a KZbin video to share. If anyone experienced this please let me know I want to collect info and then talk to wellue/viatom to see if they can explain or they would be available to share test data or to anything else, I really like it but it's scaring the hell out of me.

13:38 I’ve bought more of these Wellue O2 rings than I care to admit. (Sometimes I loan them to people and don’t get them back.) They might wear out after many months-not totally sure how long they remain relatively accurate-but I’ve never had one stop working in the first few months. So this person’s experience was probably a fluke; most people shouldn’t worry about it when considering whether to purchase one.

This company recently forced an 'upgrade' to their new app, and those nice graphs and all your notes became inaccessible for a while. They've replaced it with a giant-text version where it's really hard to zoom into the graphs to find details, doesn't have the option for sharing a screenshot, and is more awkward to use. Their file format (android) still can be read into OSCAR, but you have to edit the filename to the old format for OSCAR to find the file to select it. You're currently not able to access old data if the device used was broken or isn't with you. They should have made this change optional until they released a fully working version of the new app.

13:32 "Device keeps resetting" - Yes if your hand gets too cold -> insufficient surface blood-flow -> loss of SpO2 "signal". I had that last night, but only after I had got up at 3am (as is usual for me, way before the ring) when the house was cold, sitting in my nightclothes, doing the geek-laptophyperfocus thing - not noticing the slowly creeping intrusion of coldness. Cold is the magic word I suspect. At first all was fine, but after an hour or so (as is usual for me) I had lost a lot of surface body temperature. I'm guessing that reduced the perfusion (blood flow) or at least brought it further away from the skin surface (surface capillaries constricting), thereby denying the very thing the ring relies on for its measurement. "Loss of signal", in effect. So, presumably, trying to "fix" the issue, (but without knowing the cause), it tried resetting (like rebooting) a few times (though in this case to no avail - "it was the world that was wrong"), vibrating each time. However, after I went back to bed (4:30am) , it carried on recording as normal (and my sleep continued uninterrupted). My guess seems likely to be correct - I just checked the o2Ring manual and it says, under "3.8.Unavailable Symbol": "When this symbol displays on device screen, it indicates the readings is unavailable right now. It may caused by: Excessive movement; Poor signal, finger is too cold; Usually, the readings will recover in a few seconds when at rest." Online manual e.g. as here: www.trendmedic.de/media/2280/file/O2ring%20user%20manual-trendmedic.pdf So keep warmer, at least the monitored hand. Roomy mitten-glove? Or just hand under (sufficient layers of) bedclothes.

I own one of these rings and KNOW my night oxygen levels are terrible: 46 drops of over 4% last night, the lowest: 85%. But owning the ring doesn't make the problem go away, and knowing how to fix the issue are two different things. I use an oxygen concentrator at 2LPM, but I'm not sure it's doing me any good. If someone reads this and has any advice, it would be much appreciated. BTW - I seem to report almost exclusively Central Sleep Apnea.
@thatcaligula
@thatcaligula 6 ай бұрын
Same here! Using this ring for 1 year, never convinced me fully. According to this ring I have central sleep apnea (not obstructive), whenever I'm lying, or even sitting and not move nor talk I get same results and even worse than yours. It's scary. Nevertheless I have zero symptoms of hypoxia my pr is low and stays low (45-50 at night), real hypoxia would cause acceleration I suppose(?). I ended up buying CPAP first and oxygen concentrator then, and yes they both show a great difference and when combined I can get scores up to 10 at night! But! I caught this guy showing significantly lower readings than the other two devices including crazy drops. It's really confusing.

I have a ResMed 11, and I have noticed that when I go to turn it on, the button is a bit warm to the touch. That suggests to me that it's using significant power in it's off/standby mode. Have you seen anyone discussing the standby power consumption? Have you tested yourself? I'm wondering what it might be for this machine. I have started unplugging it during the day to prevent power waste. Thanks.

I figured out how to find the file on my Android device, copy it to my PC, and import it to OSCAR. You need to first import a CPAP session, then OSCAR won't crash when you try to import the pulse-ox file. It shows pulse, o2 and movement graphs along with the cpap stuff. File was located in Internalstorage/Android/data/com.viatom.vihealth/files. Next thing is to tweak the timestamps so the import lines up with the CPAP data. The filename has 6 digits near the right hand end that seem to be hhmmss timestamp contained in the filename. I tried changing the numbers in the filename, and it changes the alignment of the imported data in OSCAR. Yay! An idea to synch your CPAP machine to the Viatom/wellue ring, is to shake the ring while tapping your finger against the cpap mask. This should generate movement spikes and mask pressure spikes. Do this in some recognizable pattern, and you'll be able to see the patterns on the two graphs, and line them up to within a few seconds. Another idea might be to hold the ring very steady, then give it a very quick shake and sharply exhale at the same time. If you're a fanatic and sometimes record sleep video, you'll be able to see this on the video, too.

I'm trying to understand if something is terribly wrong with me or the o2ring has some problem. During the day, sitting or lying I get tons of sudden drops to lower than 90(even 86) which go back up in a few seconds. My saturation tends to be low 92-95 and if I talk or move it goes up and if I breath deeply it goes up to 98. I don't get if the drops are real or artifacts. The perfusion index readings will naturally be weaker at the proximal side of your fingers than the distal ends (there's a reason why professional medical pulse oximeters are designed to clamp to the area). There's just a lot more vasculature closer to the surface of the skin there. Try it for yourself. Just slide the O2ring to the ends of your fingers and watch the PI numbers jump up drastically. I've personally found having it on my left thumb provides the highest readings out of all my digits. Your mileage may (and probably will) vary. Hope that helps.

Man...you are REALLY upset by this!!! 😂 I'm sitting here answering question after question on KZbin trying to help people sleep (after spending the day helping people get better sleep) and your messages keep popping up telling me what a dick I am. 😂 The point here is that you watched a couple of my videos and think you know exactly who I am. If you were my wife, kids, siblings, parent, neighbor, friend....fellow coach....I would take what you say with more weight. To boil it down more you're getting upset about a joke between Apple vs Android. Same jokes are made about Ford vs Chevy. Marvel vs DC.....it goes on and on. It's all stupid and it's all for fun....or not. Watch it or not. You don't even need to tell me you've stopped watching, I'll just assume that for now. Now I'm going to answer a few more questions trying to help people with their sleep problems and I promise not to ask them if they have an Android phone or not. 😘

Your jokes are NOT funny although you have some interesting things to say. If your videos were shorter and more to the point it would be a big plus

I don't really do "jokes" on this channel. It's not some stand-up act. 😂 I do try to make them concise. Difficult if there is a lot of information depending on the subject matter.

@@quentinfitzgerald3305for the first 5 years there was no payment of any kind. Then once Adsense kicked in it was maybe a couple hundred dollars a year. Now it’s more only because a company (CPAPSupplies.com) wants to advertise on my channel. You can choose to buy from them or not. The Adsense costs you nothing. That said, the information IS free to the viewer.

Relax, the guy is a goofball if you haven't watched his other videos, he's probably saved people hundreds of thousands not to mention lives he is saving. He's not giggling at poor people like a Republican

or we want a phone that works and is not monopolized. most of my apple friends/users can't figure out how to use their IPhones and they ask me and my wife. iphone users are ~30% of the market, so awesome job at insulting most of your users

Thanks for sharing the link for more directions. I've supported organizations who ran their whole companies on Macs, and I've supported folks who were Windows and Android....I just hate using Mac (and IOS). To me it does everything "bass ackwards." So, I'll stick to my Android phone with a far better camera, the ability to mimic a PC, the ability to truly multi task, and customize how Ibinteract with my phone. But don't worry, I'm sure Apple with get some of these features in the next few years.😁
