Review of Westin Homes in Austin Texas

My husband and i closed on our westin home in January 2023 in Bastrop tx and we had those same issues, they really need to work on cleaning. presentation is everything. And our sales man was also Preston. He was awesome the whole way through. Very helpful and attentive. We love our home.

Same issue I had in Houston/Katy area a month ago. Your contract is not a contract until Management signs it. Hold your breath on any incentive or promise sales makes until Westin Management signs it. My contract was revised 4 times before getting a final signature from Management. Contracts are reviewed by Management only on Mondays.

If you dont mind me asking, which private inspectors did you use? Did they not notice the concrete issue and the paint issue during final inspection? We are looking at this process and trying to learn. Thank you!

Hi! We used Bill Arrellano with BPG inspections. The inspectors focus on items in need of repair or maintenance, not cosmetic things like paint smudges. But yes the low spot on the patio was noted. . Currently about to sign an agreement at Westin Sienna in Houston. The seller agreement really covers them and screws us. With the NAR settlement, not sure if they will pay our buyer's agent with the language on the contract.

Hi! All builder contracts are written to protect the builders, Westin's is no different. All of the builders in the Austin area are still paying compsenation for buyers' agents, and most home owners who are selling their homes are doing the same. We're not seeing major changes after the settlement.

We just recently bought a Carter VII at Artavia community. None of these issues. In fact, the house we bought was in the market for almost 3 years. Most folks prefer going to buy at Grand Central Park and Woodlands which are just 15 minutes away from Artavia. But the prices here are close to $200k cheaper.

How are the schools that cover Artavia? I am not as much interested in the over-the-top academic scores as I am over bullying and fights. But those two factors seem to go together - high academic scores usually accompany lower bullying incidences.

My Preston by Westin home was built in 2014… FOUNDATION cracked this year. Not only that.. every upgrade I attempted has become a headache because shortcuts were taken behind the sheet rock. Everything from changing a the light switches, to bath vents, to the covered patio. YES CARPET in study, dining room and master bedroom so annoying. Master bathroom shower holds water. Etc,etc, etc

Absolutely bad construction and bad experience with the builder. Definitely not a solid build as claimed here. We paid 1.3 million dollars for a new home and feel like we have been cheated on many levels. They do not stand behind their construction and they should definitely reconsider some of their floor plans. The sales manager that we worked with at Rough Hollow was not very helpful. Overall, we have had a very frustrating experience. Would not recommend this builder to anyone.

Sounds like a horrible builder. Drees Homes would never allow these things. We made them come over and take care of items and even moved our closing date so that things could be taken care of (our house is in Ohio). We did this in the middle of the pandemic when the builders had the upper hand. Looking back now, I feel like we were quite tough with them and they were really nice. Drees have so far taken care of all warranty request in a very timely fashion.

Drees is great! Defintely more expensive than Westin, but we are still very happy with our Westin home. Just the clean up was the only problem, but we resolved it.
