If Jared actually did anything, like actually physically fight a monster head-on or at least provided assistance to the girls, I'd understand why the show treats him as a cool nerd type of character. I don't even think of him as an underdog nerd type because he never loses, so I can't feel good when he wins. A character should go through trial and tribulation, get over roadblocks in the plot, and actually develop. but Jared isn't a character, because that would imply personality.

I actually appreciate this episode for showing how Jared actually is. One of my biggest problems with the character is that almost all of his appearances aren't actually him, especially in Season 1. This is only the third time Jared has appeared in person, not counting times where he was only seen in the background (the other two times being A Star is Blossom and Snow Month). Every other time it's been Blossom imagining him. Jared himself hasn't done too much wrong, it's how he's used and viewed by Blossom/the writers that's a problem. It's a dynamic I thought actually had some interesting potential as a way to salvage the character. Granted, the specific idea I had involved directly addressing the issues of Blossom's fantasies by say, her expecting him to try and help the Powerpuff Girls in combat when he's very clearly incapable, resulting in Jared having to face violence and/or serious self esteem issues from being unable to live up to her ridiculous expectations. Phantasm Chasm is still a good start though. While in the review you mention Jared as perfect, he really isn't. He cant fight at all and, as has been shown with his past two appearances, he's usually really bad with confrontations in general. Could they have shown this better in this episode? Yes, not going to deny that. I also agree that how the writer's went about the climax of the episode was not great. It would have been much better if they had Jared admit that he was at fault too for not being able to help much and unintentionally getting the girls in danger. Giving a hated character the moral high ground, even if he is technically right, is not a good way to make the audience like them. But saying he's perfect here is incorrect. The problem isnt that the character is perfect, but that the way he is depicted by Blossom most of the time is perfect. It's just that we see Jared imagined WAY more than we actually see him, leading the two to be easily confused. I do understand though why people blame Jared the character despite never acting in a way that would normally warrant that type of reaction. When something happens in real life that relates back to a show, character, their actor, or their writer, it can be hard to separate. I'm sure for a lot of people after... certain events... it's become very hard to look at Ember McClain the same way ever again. The same can be said for a lot of characters after their actor is revealed as a criminal or has just died. The source hasn't changed, but that knowledge does affect how we view the work itself.

I would have preferred 'City Escape on Kazoo ft: Guy Coughing at the End'. And is it just me but this was the PERFECT episode the show could have let loose and just be silly but even then they couldn't do that. Maybe Butters could have been turned off at the game simply because she didn't want to admit she didn't understand it and when everyone gets inside, each one finds they have a particular talent that actually helps out in the game. Bubbles could have used her animal communication powers to tame a lot of the beast, Blossom could have become a make-shift leader of the snow/ice monsters after she shows them just how powerful she is and over time Buttercup would admit she doesn't understand the game but after Jared and the girls tell her NOT to take it too seriously and have fun, she finds her inner BARBARIAN (seriously, why is BUBBLES the barbarian? Butters was made for that role!) and she finds her spot in the game and begins to enjoy it. That simple. That fun....but nope. We went down the route of 'the other girls are too weak and Buttercup has to save them' route ONCE MORE.

It's pretty rare, and could be rather endearing if it was a show that could actually use a love interest. I know the problem with the humor shadow. Instead of doing the slapstick, violence, physical comedy, satire, witty dialogue, and bad puns mixed with good puns the original is known for, they instead try to be surreal like *Adventure Time* . Apparently surreal automatically= funny. You get breif glimpses of old PowerPuff Girls but in small amounts. They toned down the cheesy puns, there is too much talking about not enough of characters moving around. The episodes don't have enough jokes because they are so focused on the lesson of the day.

On the Topic of Buttercup saves the day, that bias is also giving the worst sort of message for this show. That the tomboy character is the only on capable of saving the day while the smart and girlier ones are for more useless by comparsion. Which is a crime since a big part of the old show was how well the girls play off each other, their strengths, weaknesses and how they were great heros despite being little girls. But nope not in the reboot.

I thought of some rewrites. Instead of the nerdy game they play being baised off of D and D it's instead baised on Pokemon. No Jared in this story because he isn't funny. Bubbles and Blossom are into it but Buttercup thinks that it's lame. She isn't nearly as callous though. Then everyone in town is addicted to it and Buttercup feels like the Grinch. She finnaly plays and loves it. Then Mojo Jojo is addicted to the Pokemon inspired game too so he builds a machine that can bring Pokemon into the real world and they have to do as he says. Then Mojo Jojo takes over the town with his Pokemon. The PowerPuff Girls try to beat them up like they normally do but nothing works. Because the rules of the game say only Pokemon are supposed to hurt Pokemon. So they have to steal Mojo Jojo's machine and make it scan a Gametndo Swap. And it makes Blossom Bubbles and Buttercup Pokemon and then they have to beat up Mojo JoJo's Pokemon. The PowerPuff Girls Pokemon decided to return to the video games world by going back into the Machine's portal. The machine breaks down because they accidentally smash into it while beating up Mojo Jojo. The whole town imedately gets bored with Pokemon. Even then the PowerPuff Girls. A new fad has come into town and they love a new game system.They put their Gametendo Swaps in the dark closest with all their junk. Their Pokemon keeps banging on the screen begging to be played with The PPG don't here the then it runs out of batteries on the Gametendo Swap. So Once again the day was saved thanks to the PowerPuff Girls. The Pokemon don't count they are just pixels. PowerPuff Girls: Poke- what?

I think the reason why the writers favor Buttercup over the other two is that in our modern days a tomboyish girl is more accepted by the audience rather than a cute girl or a feminine girl. Most modern girls in cartoon shows and movies are portrayed as hardcore tomboys: Korra, the new She-Ra, even Webby from the Ducktales reboot had to be changed to a tomboy.

Seriously we don't need to watch the uninteresting romance between him and Blossom that part of this is time consuming, meaningless and unimportant can't the show focus on what made the original so great and be an action/ adventure comedy cartoon with violence and the Powerpuff Girls beating up the bad guys while focusing more on the action while still having comedy sprinkled in.

icecream hero that’s EXACTLY my problem with her!!!!! THE PREMISE JUST SCREAMS!!! BUBBLES!!!!!! I realized the reboot isn’t making Blossom useless THEYRE MAKING HER A SOFTY LIKE BUBBLES!!!!!! Also the way Buttercup scares Blossom that seems a lot like something OG Buttercup would do to OG Bubbles. And OG Blossom would love the dentist because of all the girls she’s the one who cares about hygiene more than any of them. Bubbles also answers the hotline... THATS BLOSSOMS JOB REMEMBER WHAT HAPPENED WHEN BUBBLES ANSWERED IT IN THE ORIGINAL!!!! Bubbles and Blossom completely switched personalities!!!

I don't like this episode. It's so cliche. Jared really shouldn't have been here, the ending was horrible and it steals from Teen Titans Go! Although I liked buttercup talking shit to Jared, it doesn't save this episode. Also why is Blossom and Bubbles fat? Overall Rating: 3/10

She was bossy, she had a slight ego, she is the strong confiedent leader, she is the sister the other sisters go to for advice, she has the intelligence of a normal person, she is very resourceful. She is also the straight man but here she is nutty, freaks out and screams.
