You know. The “I only got billed for two daughters” plot point was a decent idea in theory. IF the episode more focused on Blossom trying to lie her way to prove she did go to the Dentist. She could fake the Toy, the Ice Cream, the pain and the infection. But normal bills? She’s too young to put that into account since the Professor supposedly handles the majority of the economics in their family.

I noticed this episode seems to be ripping off "Down n' Dirty"; just replace Buttercup with Blossom and refusing to take a bath with refusing to see the dentist. Also it's kind of weird seeing Blossom in this situation since I remember in the Powerpuff Girls magazine, the Powerzine, there's a section where you read the PPGs' diaries and Blossom talks a lot about how good she is about brushing her teeth regularly and how much she loves going to the dentist. Of course at this point, this has become an obscure piece of PPG media.

While I do love the classic cartoon on the whole, there were a handful or so of episodes that were so wildly ooc, mean-spirited, or stupid that I pretend they never happened, especially since they usually weren’t ever mentioned or referenced in the series ever again, anyway, such as “Moral Decay,” “Gettin’ Twiggy With It,” “Sun Scream,” “Say Uncle,” “Reeking Havoc,” and “Slave The Day.” Thankfully, the writers of the classic cartoon usually followed continuity in their canon selectively by only regarding it when it made consistent sense with the overall arc, characterization, or theme of the story they were telling, and usually disregarded when it didn’t. That being said, yeah, there is a Powerzine magazine right here. You can’t really buy it anymore because it’s old, but I found it here on an archive site. I was a major blossom fan growing up. A lot of episodes about her were my favorite growing up And this reboot just makes me upset for her character, as she is doing things she would never do before. Yes the original blossom had poor sense of judgement in episodes, but she would learn from her lesson and grow as a character. Her being a control freak, and very prideful about her intelligent was aart of some episodes, but she would usually learn from that negative character trait. It would be something that would stay about her. Overall im not even upset about this, Im just disapointed. This reboot wanted to make good role models for girls, which I honestly think they intended this 100 %. But the original girls all were great role models, you can make a argument the current girls are negative role models. Sure you can argue different era of cartoons, but look at Steven Universe, a show also gunning for the same thing PPG16 is trying to do and suceeding. Its having positive role models, for girls(and boys) and tackling mature themes(Unlike PPG16 which failed miserably at the trans theme(

Okay, I wanna try rewrite this. First things first, change blossom to bubbles. Now if it HAS to stay as blossom I'll role with it. When blossom says she has a tooth ache have the professer bring them to the dentist right away. Have a exposition dump in the car about how instead of her teeth being neglected, they got damaged during a fight. Have buttercup scare her the same way. When they get to the dentist have the same thing happen. Have the other two sisters go inside while blossom is forced to wait. When she has to go inside have her wait in the bathroom for about half an hour before leaving. The professer proseeds to ask to see the dentist but blossom says there on break. So they leave. (it's not the best excuse but hey ;~;) the ice cream scene still happens with the professer getting suspicious along with the two girls, but it's not as obvious. Have blossom give her ice cream away or something. The monster battle still happens (with some added action ^^) and blossom still uses the root. Not transforming into a monster, but making it so its more obvious, and MUCH more painful. Her sisters say she has to go now and they go to tell the professer to rescudule for the morning but blossom runs away. The toothbrush stand can still be there but instead of a worker, there's some sort of hardware store. All the commotion causes the professer and the girls to find her, on the same cliff cuz its a nice setting that you wouldn't expect. Have blossom except that she will go and it ends on the smile. Keeping the bubbles subplot in as well ^^

Blossom's face is me when I thought this episode is a rip-off. Yeah, Tooth Decay is my least favorite episode of the show (aside from Town and Out), but this episode is lackluster. Blossom getting scared of the dentist is pretty relatable to most kids, but her getting tormented is pretty annoying to me. Blossom is my favorite character in the original, but the reboot version is bland and pointless. Overall Rating: 4/10

This episode was worse than “Moral Decay,” but yeah, from the original series, “Moral Decay” pissed me off the most. In regards to Buttercup’s fate at the end of “Moral Decay,” it’s NOT the fact that she got karmically punished for her crimes by getting most of her teeth knocked out by the villains, and it’s NOT the fact that the Professor forced her to pay her dental bills with the money she earned through largely dirty means. In and of themselves, those punishments for Buttercup’s greedy and sadistic crimes in “Moral Decay” were valid on a violent cartoon. My problems were the wildly ooc exceedingly cruel WAYS in which the writers, ironically Craig McCracken and Lauren Faust, DELIVERED those punishments to Buttercup as comeuppance for her crimes. It’s the fact that the writers needlessly involved Blossom and Bubbles in the set up of Buttercup getting her teeth knocked out as comeuppance for her crimes by all those villains, then had them sadistically revel in her suffering from the sidelines, and let them get away with it. It’s the fact that they made it seem like Professor Utonium, who was generally always so concerned about his three little kids well-being on every other occasion on the show, sometimes to the point of overdoing it, suddenly hardly seemed to care at all that one of his DAUGHTERS had gotten most of her teeth knocked out in a one against 15+ villains beat down. I don’t know for certain if he knew that Blossom and Bubbles were specifically involved in the set-up of Buttercup getting beat up, though they obviously told him why and by who she got beat up by, but it’s still not a good look at the end that Blossom and Bubbles aren’t punished and he doesn’t seem more concerned about Buttercup, NOR is it AT ALL in character. Sure, Blossom and Bubbles didn’t leave her behind to have her bones broken, to get maimed, or to get killed by the villains. While this situation would have either seriously and permanently injured or killed the average person, Buttercup does have superpowers that make her nearly invulnerable to severe or life threatening damage in beat ups, and while their smiles at her suffering were uncharacteristically creepy and wrong, the fact that Blossom and Bubbles did stay behind to watch Mojo and the other villains get their comeuppance on Buttercup from the sidelines suggests that they were checking to make sure that none of them hurt their sister any worse than knocking out her teeth like she did as an “eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth.” Buttercup needed to get punished and learn a lesson. However, having Blossom and Bubbles setting her up to get beat up, and making it seem like the Professor hardly cared at all that Buttercup had gotten hurt still felt like unnecessarily mean-spirited character assassination to me. If the writers had just had Buttercup get beaten up by the villains as comeuppance for her crimes in “Moral Decay” in a karmic twist of fate without Blossom’s and Bubbles intervention, made it so her family was rightfully angry at her, and had the Professor say something that expressed more concern that Buttercup had gotten hurt, in spite of his rightful disappointment in her, like “Well, Buttercup, I hope you’ve learned your lesson from all this, but I’m sorry to see that ended with you getting hurt,” then it still would have been a bad episode because of Buttercup’s character derailment, but it wouldn’t have felt like exceedingly mean-spirited and hateful writing in regards to all of the main characters, particularly towards Buttercup. It would have felt like a fairly dealt with Aesop.

Basically Blossom and Mojo need to get teeth filled but their scared and don't want to give up their sweets. In the end they decided to get their teeth filled together and Blossom isn't scared anymore. There's some shenanigans in the middle were Blossum runs away from the others and they chase her around.

I’m not going to act like there were NEVER any OOC MOMENTS for Professor Utonium in the classic PPG cartoon. “Daylight Savings,” “Keen on Keane,” and particularly “Moral Decay” are the worst OOC instances I can think of for him in the classic cartoon. This isn’t a diss against the classic PPG either. I love it! It’s just that I think, like many superhero cartoon episodic sitcoms for kids with selective continuity and multiple writers on board, the writers occasionally sacrificed what made the characters sympathetic and/or intelligent otherwise to fit certain Aesops, and/or to throw in gratuitous reveals, twists, and violence for shock value, even though they weren’t at all necessary to get the resolutions they wanted at the end. However, in the 2002 movie and in MOST episodes of the classic cartoon, Professor Utonium was one of the best fathers from animated sitcoms for both adults and children. He was usually very brave, considerate, doting, kind, protective, reasonably strict, selfless, and wise as a parent to Blossom, Bubbles, and Buttercup, especially considering the fact that this is his first time doing it in the series that’s implied to take place over a year from the 2002 prequel movie. He could occasionally be absent-minded, cheesy,, old-fashioned, and overprotective, but he meant well, and he learned to ease up the first three ish seasons. He also gave the girls great advice.

I actually liked the ending gag not because of what it is, but because it presented a concept that would have been infinitely better. What if instead of being afraid of getting her teeth drilled, she was afraid of getting braces. Being the "smart one" of the group (this show tends to forget that all the damn time ), maybe she fears becoming a smart kid STEREOTYPE instead. Having to deal with the struggle of other people's perception of what smart people should look like. The stereotype being that all smart people are either nerds, geeks, or dorks with larges glasses, a pimple covered face, and of course BRACES. She fears receiving braces as she thinks everyone will begin labeling her as a stereotype. Having to overcome her fear of being labeled and learning to find identity within herself rather than worrying her appearance matching a stereotype. Despite having braces, she finds that she is still BLOSSOM no matter the stereotypes.

This whole problem literally could have been fixed had the Professor done the logical thing and confronted Blossom about the dentist earlier. I think this version of the Professor must happen to just have Professor as his real first name because there is no way this man is smart enough to get any sort of science degree. It's pretty depressing how he's supposedly a brilliant scientist yet his stupidity often exacerbates or is the catalyst of the problems the girls have to face whenever he's involved in an episode in any significant way. The reboot writers essentially took a man who was not only logical and smart, but also a standout father, and turned him into a clone of Timmy Turner's dad who uses big science-y sounding words because sitcom cliche.

She let Buttercup get her fear get the better of her, & atop of that this is way too out of character for her.. And again I’ll take Moral Decay any day, At least it tried to make a lesson when Buttercup punches random people’s teeth just for money even the villains, I understand why this was over hated by fans but I don’t necessary agree with them, But my point is, Moral Decay handle tooth episodes a little better than this, THE END!

I had a weird day dream while having trouble sleeping last night: basically the girls had a argument over which breakfast is better. Blossom wants French toast, buttercup wants bacon & eggs, and bubbles wants waffles (and before you ask, they all said no to the professors liver & onions before he could suggest it). So after arguing over which is best, they all race to the grocery store to buy ingredients, tell a monster to wait till they ate breakfast to start wrecking the city (monster grumbles about it), race back home to cook, and then have a contest where they each try each others meals to see which is better. Food lovers note: buttercup made the applewood smoked bacon, and added cheese & bacon bits to the eggs for extra flavor because you can never have too much bacon. Blossom added a side of blueberries to her French toast for a balanced breakfast type of deal and an optional side of maple syrup. Bubbles got some chocolate chip waffles, topped it with strawberries & blueberries, covered it all in strawberry syrup, threw white chocolate chips on top of all that. (Buttercup: sheesh, what are ya gonna add next, whipped cream? Bubbles: *hides whipped cream can* Nooooo...) Spoiler: they all end up enjoying all three to various degrees, but blossom & buttercup still consider bubbles "Neapolitan waffles" to be more a desert than a normal meal (they all got a mean sweet tooth iirc). Then I guess the actual plot of the episode would start, maybe something food themed to give context for the breakfast contest being a Chekhov's gun or something. I dunno. P.S.: why they keep making blossom dumb in this reboot?

I think the worst part is that Buttercup is in no way punished for causing Blossom's fear in the first place (other than not having a cavity even though her mouth is gross). If she hadn't overexaggerated the dentist, Blossom would not have been as scared as she was.

Characters shouldn't always get comupance for doing the wrong thing. Real life doesn't work that way so why should fiction. It makes the comedy too predictable.

The first half was bearable despite it goes against Blossom’s character for not taking responsibility of her cavity but the second half is getting ridiculously obnoxious. So yeah, definitely one of the worst season 2 episodes.

Yeah that kinda bothered me too. I mean, the idea is that her mouth has swollen up so much that it's covering her eye, but once she becomes green it becomes impossible to distinguish that's what's happening and instead it just looks off.

As much as I think Moral Decay is overhated, at least this episode doesn't try to make the hatred worse by ripping it off, so...there's that. Also, oh goody, a Blossom in pain episode. Plus, I think the reason why the reboot gives the girls fingers is because They're Normal Little Girls but occasionally have powers. Wait--now I know what this episode rips off. *Down n' Dirty* is this episode, but with teeth instead of wanting to bathe.

If they explained abt the toothache/cavity being a bit of a weird reaction with chemical X or whatever then I could buy it but why would she turn into a goblin over her two front teeth? teeth coming in has nothing to do with cavities or your teeth needing to be fixed in deeper. Braces can hurt and are attached to the teeth but its not a drill/infection situation....

I can kind of understand blossom here...i am 28 and still afraid of the dentist...as a child i always brushed my teeth BECAUSE i was so afraid...yeah..guess who needed a giant treatment because of a hole this year...and my teeth are (genetically) very fragile so...yeah the filling just breaks out...so this is a really relatable episode...i avoided the dentist like hell, cared for my teeth...and still had problems So normally i don´t relate to those episodes but yeah...i can here xD still...not the most interesting episode premise

Pinkiepool GamerBrony27 me too. We had to keep switching dentists until I eventually decided to just let them do their thing. One of these makes for a good story. I was with my mom and my grandma because before this I took some kind of medicine and the first time it made my legs kinda wobbly for some reason so I needed help getting from place to place. So my mom and I go in and there’s the dentist and his assistant and he pulls out one of his tools. Me being 7 and scared I got nervous so I tried to slide my legs off the chair but he grabs them and pushes me back onto the chair. Which made me even more scared so I tried to sit up and he pinned me down. Then my mom stepped in and we left. And this is where things go from scary to kinda funny. Several years later we bring up this story and my mom tells me some details that I don’t remember. She flipped out on this guy pushed him away and grabbed me. As we were leaving she was yelling out in the waiting room “DONT BRING YOUR KIDS HERE THEYRE TERRIBLE WITH KIDS!!!” And this time we tried the gas so I was kinda out of it but just thinking about my mom carrying little me out into the waiting room and making a ruckus. 🤣🤣🤣

I don't understand why its most hated episode: Its would be terrible if Buttercup gets away of consequences of her actions. This reboot Buttercup gets away no matter what because she's our favorite Powerpuff. Lets torture Blossom Also this episode reminds me; that show CatDog episode "Teeth for Two" In this episode Cat and Dog learn they affect each other's teeth during a dentist visit, so a result, Cat's teeth become a mess, so he tries to change Dog's diet as well as clean his teeth.

I highly doubt anyone wanted Buttercup to get away with it. Many people consider Buttercup's punishment too harsh. Myself included. The ending especially. She had already learned her lesson.

@@abdullahibouraleh6919 Yeah, in regards to Buttercup’s fate at the end of “Moral Decay,” it’s not so much the fact that she got karmically punished for her crimes by getting most of her teeth knocked out by the villains, or even the fact that the Professor forced her to pay her dental bills with the money she earned through dirty means. It’s the fact that the writers needlessly involved Blossom and Bubbles in the set up of Buttercup getting her teeth knocked out as comeuppance for her crimes by all those villains, then had them sadistically revel in her suffering from the sidelines, let them get away with it, and made it seem like Professor Utonium, who was generally always so concerned about his three kids well-being and safety on every other occasion on the the show, sometimes to the point of overdoing it, hardly cared at all that one of his DAUGHTERS had gotten her teeth knocked out. I don’t know for certain if he knows that Blossom and Bubbles were specifically involved in the set-up of Buttercup getting beat up, though they obviously told him why and by who she got beat up by, but it’s still not a good look at the end that Blossom and Bubbles aren’t punished and he doesn’t seem more concerned about Buttercup, NOR is it AT ALL in character. Sure, Blossom and Bubbles didn’t leave her behind to get killed by the villains, and Buttercup needed to get punished and learn a lesson. However, having Blossom and Bubbles setting her up to get beat up, and making it seem like the Professor hardly cared at all that Buttercup had gotten hurt, was unnecessary character assassination. If the writers had just let Buttercup get beaten up by the villains as comeuppance for her crimes in “Moral Decay” in a twist of fate without Blossom’s and Bubbles intervention, made Blossom and Bubbles rightfully angry at her, while still concerned rather than sadistically gleeful in her suffering, and had the Professor say something that expressed more concern that Buttercup had gotten hurt, in spite of his rightful disappointment in her, like “Well, Buttercup, I hope you’ve learned your lesson, but I’m sorry to see that it ended in a way that ended up with you getting hurt,” then it still would have been a bad episode because of Buttercup’s character derailment, but it wouldn’t have felt like exceedingly mean-spirited and hateful writing in regards to all of the main characters, particularly towards Buttercup.
