It is bigger for sure and I switched from 997 S to 992S manual, it is for me like night and day because maybe in between I had 2 cayman 981 the latest was a GT4 and from that perpective this 992 with the engine been moved 168 mm forward the driving experienced is closer to my ex gt4 with that little more traction and better breaking feel. I thought that I would regret the gt4 because the entire dynamics was perfect for me but I must admit the 992 S in manual 7 speed is again a significant dynamic up grade. I’am bluffed.

I just took delivery of a base 992 on New Years day. I opted to get the base and then put money into options including the 930 leather. The base is plenty plenty fast for highway and b roads. I live in the Pacific Northwest where there is a lot of wet driving. I am still wearing in the tires but wet driving seems comfortable - I have not pushed it yet. I might have considered the S had I seen your review and comments on torque vectoring. I agree with you on the excess in screens in the interior. But interestingly enough, they add those super cool toggle switches that remind me of older gen sports cars. They feel great to touch and turn off/on.

@@JankoLind I know this is a Carrera video, but in regards to the GT4, I am working on purchasing my first Porsche a 2022 PDK GT4 and my first mid-engine car. I come from Camaro SS 1LE and Corvette Z06's. I hear some say that the GT4 can be a handful in the rear under hard braking because of its strut suspension and toe changes. But then I watch videos that say it is super stable and one of the best handling Porsches ever. It's so conflicting. Can you really push the GT4 hard and not have it bite you (assuming you keep the systems on). Say you are exiting an off-ramp quickly and traffic is at a dead stop and you have to slam on the brakes mid corner, does that become a scary situation in a GT4?

I'm a big fan your videos. I wonder if you would take a 992 T over the S since it does come with torque vectoring, manual transmission, sports exhaust, and insulated glass as standard? When you add a few options to the T, the price nowadays gets close to the S. As a side note, some reviewers say that the insulated glass makes the interior louder in the 992, which I don't think is the case at all. I think the 992 T is louder only because they removed other sound insulation to save weight. I had a 992 base with insulated glass (based on your tip) and was happy with it. I ended up trading the 992 base (found it a bit too boring) for a new 718 Spyder in large part thanks to your passion for the Spyder and love it. I hope to be able to get an allocation in the U.S. for a Spyder RS and to spec it as I would like but will be just fine if end up keeping the regular Spyder.

Very good video review Janko. Very much enjoyed. Don’t agree with you about the sport design package though. I think it’s a big improvement for the rear of the car when the sports design package moves the number plate higher up. I’m not a fan of the number plate being lower as it makes the ass of the car so much bigger and expansive. Completely subjective and each to their own opinion of course. Great point you made over the sports exhaust. I think it was a great and worthwhile option up to and including the 991.1 generation. But with everything turbo charged that can with the 3.0 engine afterwards the sports exhaust does not give much.

@@JankoLind I will agree that for the extra money and since they called it "Sport" the exhaust should sound better than stock. Part of me still likes the low key stealth nature of a 911 so I use that along with the looks of the sport exhaust backend treatment to justify the expense. If it sounded better too, I would have less mental gymnastics to perform.

I am not sure I would like that. What I love about my C2S and my Boxster S before it, is the way it grips round corners. That’s my joy of driving - the confidence that the car gives turning in. Your car looks amazing! I love the Jet Black Metallic. So,the A-pillar noise you are hearing, is it a whistle between certain speeds? I thought that was due to something else on the car and wonder if the sport design front changes that awful whistle..... The car is an amazing thing to drive and there is a HUGE difference between a C2S with Rear Wheel steering and a 718. I think the 992.2 is going to be pretty much perfection once they include some of the cool new things the GT3 appears to have!

The 992 dilemma for me is the price. Compared to my 991.2 Carrera T it seems more insulated and tech focused and to my desired specs I would need to trade my car + $55k USD. That's a huge premium for the same engine and mostly the same driving dynamics. I just cannot justify that, great car, just not at 991.2 GT3 prices. If I were to spend this much, I would stretch slightly and go for a 991.2 GT3 Touring and have a future classic. But that's just me. :)
