I have several Rolex in my collection, the DSSD-Blue is my favorite. Also I believe on the Rolex dive watches, they are tested to actually 20% greater depth than listed on the dial. This watch is an amazing feat of engineering and you are 100% correct, to capture the dynamic beauty of the dial, you need to hold it in real life...
@WatchHobbyist7 жыл бұрын
+Polar Roller Yes I've also heard about the extra testing, although I think they'd literally need the Mariana Trench to further test the DeepSea 😊

The Rolex Deepsea is a superbly engineered timepiece, a lot of people say that it's too big for small wrists, but I think it's not a problem, oversize can be cool, just enjoy it

After having both (SD43 and D-Blue) for sometime - which one do you prefer at the moment? If you could just keep one, which one would be? Thanks mate
@WatchHobbyist7 жыл бұрын
Sorry for the delay, but the D-Blue hands down. I sold the SD43. The D-Blue is the super crazy technical one worthy of its size. The SD43 is too similar in size without the bells and whistles, and the Cyclops which everybody mentions
@bobdunn32226 жыл бұрын
Wow you sold the SD43??!! Not worth keeping both?
@JamesSmith-nl8ls6 жыл бұрын
Hi I sold my bulk and ignored the 43. I managed to get a DSDB at Cancun Mexico AD retail price and tax refund while on holiday in Jan 2028. If you look now all the major watch sites sell this for £12500-£13,050. Which means I saved £3500-4000 pounds buying in Cancun. So happy. Cheers.

The way watch sizes have been trending for the past 50 years, I'm not sure your DeepSea will look out of place on your wrist in, say, five or 10 years. Gutsy call on the potential investment; I respect that.

Thanks Ryan. It's something I've never done for security reasons etc but tbh, my GMT sees most of my time these days. It's become a go-to watch for me, which was very unexpected.

Do you think Rolex will upgrade the Deepsea Blue bracelet like the one in the SD43?
@WatchHobbyist7 жыл бұрын
The DSSD has the best clasp in the industry. I doubt they will re-engineer any of that watch. More likely they'll discontinue it IMO.
@impexRQ7 жыл бұрын
Watch Hobbyist - probably you are right on that - the Deepsea has the best clasp in the industry. Many people has been complaining about the small bracelet in the Deepsea, what about bring 22inch in the Deepsea just like the SD43? ;)

Rodrigo Quintero Bejarano you said it months ago ... you was right about that .. they did upgrade the wide of the bracelet on the D-blue

These are somewhat common in the USA. At least common in the shops. Only seen two in the wild. Really a beautiful piece and I like that Rolex made something large and beastly.

Great review. I purchased mine about two months ago, while love the watch, the weight (not the size IMO) makes a bit uncomfortable. Purchased RubberB strap - wow, so much better! The watch is quite lighter, looks smaller, I'm not worried to scratch the bracelet - much more comfortable. I have heard the Everest straps are even better.
@WatchHobbyist7 жыл бұрын
+Serge Y Thanks, that’s good to know. I haven’t heard of differences between rubber b and Everest but it’s interesting there’s a difference.

Panerai 44mm owners will not think this watch is too big. IMO, my PAM 24 wears bigger than this watch. Maybe it is the Panerai crown guard or the smaller dial of the Rolex that gives this impression.

@bobdunn32226 жыл бұрын
Hey watch hobbit. I was just wondering what your views were on the new 2018 DSSD-Dblue?
@WatchHobbyist6 жыл бұрын
It looks to me like the date is slightly more to the centre on the new model, and I never saw any issues with the bracelet myself. The movement upgrade is nice but if you wear every day, you won't notice the extra power reserve. I don't think you can go wrong with either, but selling the old one to jump to the new one probably won't show too much difference; if you can get hold of one of course.
@bobdunn32226 жыл бұрын
Thanks, thinking of selling mine but I can’t quite work out what it means for the value yet? I really want to like it but it’s just too big so time to swop for the new gmt 😬
@WatchHobbyist6 жыл бұрын
Well if you can get one, it's not a bad choice at all.

Best dial ever produced. Period 🐇 I’m 5’8” but have a 7 1/4” wrist and I do work out, so I don’t have an issue. Now, I do have a problem wearing the updated 126660 reference as I find the wider bracelet and deployant too large. Great watch if your wrist is over 7” and you’re not a pussy ☝🏻😉

Great video, much appreciated. The clasp looks fantastic. Wear the Deep Sea in good health. Out of interest do you know how much it weighs with the bracelet?
@WatchHobbyist7 жыл бұрын
Good question Bob. I'm going to respond with "HEAVY" for now lol, but will try and get it on out kitchen scale tomorrow
@tomroman74557 жыл бұрын
I was lucky enough to get one of these, in the USA, and it weighs 7 ounces. i didn't think to see what that was in grams. Almost 1/2 pound, heavy, always aware that it's on the wrist, but not uncomfortable. My wrist is 7", not big by any measure.
@bobfrombrisbane18317 жыл бұрын
Tom Roman Seven ounces is 198 grams, hmmm I was guessing more like 220 grams with the bracelet. Interesting.
@tomroman74557 жыл бұрын
I just re-measured and my memory was a little off. It's 7.25 oz and 205 grams. I have 3 links removed from the bracelet so the total weight is a little higher. If you want an exact weight, I'll dig out the box, get those links, and re-weigh.
@bobfrombrisbane18317 жыл бұрын
Tom Roman That is ok, I appreciate you taking the the time to weigh it. Enjoy wearing your Deep Sea, it is a great watch. 👍

I don't tend to do those but in terms of the BLNR. TBH, I very quickly fell out of love with it. Incredibly hard to read the 24 hour hand and I just didn't like how purple the "blue" hue is. I have the Gold and Black model instead and much prefer it. Wear that watch a fair amount, whereas the BLNR was very quickly sent to the back of the pack.

Watch hobbit - do you prefer the D-Blue or SD43? Which one if your favorite? Thanks for the great review btw
@WatchHobbyist7 жыл бұрын
I think they're very similar, but if you can pull off the size of an SD43, you can probably pull off a D-Blue. With its clasp, rarity (in the future) and overall heft, the D-Blue is the ultimate diver. The SD43 however has the new movement and I'd say less "character". I'd therefore say the D-Blue pips it IMO.
