I have a 2001 116520 black dial and a newer 116500 panda. Love them both. I see the ceramic model as more of a sporty watch and the steel bezel versions as more of a dressier option. Both fantastic, classic, perfect timepieces

Screws in the bracelet on a diver isn't the best choice. The can come loose while diving. When diving if you lose your dive instrument you are in trouble. GS did this for a reason. Everything they do they have a good reason for it. The clasp I agree is clunky. They can do better.

People in london and other places the scum bags will still whip that tag off your wrist even if you dont think its worth a lot because you got better.

@12:15...exactly the information I was looking for. No ghost date position! I've watched so many reviews on the 79220 and nobody mentioned it. So if you have one that has a ghost date position, then it's either fake or the movement has been replaced with a standard 2824. The Tudor rotor is easy to swap onto a standard ETA. Thanks!

My pick would be 2009 2010 116520 black, old dial, new hands, green lume, new clasp. This later one has the disco subdials which I dislike. Good watch nonetheless

Terrific review. I've an SBGA031 (titanium version of essentially the same watch) totally agree about the clasp extension mech being engages accidentally.

Very nice review. I’m on a waiting list for a Sea Dweller 43mm but I think I should consider this GS. I would be inclined to replace that hand set. Seiko could have done better IMO.

I own a Grand Seiko, if you know fine watches and take the time to focus on the little details, the Seiko name in Grand Seiko isn’t an issue. They are way better than a typical Seiko, different universe. Their design language isn’t going to be for everyone across the board. Some of their watches are a bit chunky. Their bracelets while not always as bad as the critiques insist, they aren’t on average at the level of their watches. I’d suggest those are bigger concerns rather than their name.

@@armanmirsalari12 that’s hyperbole. Speaking for myself, I’m a strap guy anyway, so it’s largely a non issue. Their Elegance and Heritage collections are their best collections IMO.

The best daytona ever made !!!
@zetoch11 ай бұрын
💯 I couldn’t agree more. The 116520, late production with chromalight dial is the best Daytona ever made. Everyone is going crazy for the ceramic models, but this is the real deal. More true to history with a SS bezel, and more aesthetically pleasing and well balanced. I have a slight preference for the white dial for its improved legibility over the black dial.

I'm biased as I'm an owner but yeah could be, not in the near future but perhaps 15-20 years from now haha but the SD4K really was manufactured for a short period of time and not too many were made. I see it as the true modern successor of the vintage Sea Dweller 1665.

I just found my next Panerai. Currently have 9 of the crazy things. I'm starting to really seek out the unique pieces and I think this qualifies. I have a PAM 323, so very similar watch, just in 47mm. I'm The case thickness works fine on the 323, as a ratio of diameter and thickness. I do worry that the 45mm case might not stand up to the thickness as well. I've got a PAM 190 (another dream piece) and it is a little thinner, so better balanced. Anywho, this video is quite old, but it is the only video on this watch. Maybe I will do an update video once I find my 235. Cheers.
