On my boat, I use this setup for lifelines. I use wire that has a white plastic coating. After a few years, the wire coating starts to look terrible. Using the swageless fittings, I can just disassemble the lifelines, replace the wire, and reuse the fittings.

Great vid explaining swageless ballustrade fittings. Just bought the swageless version but with tapered jaw clamp ends from Pinnacle. Seems like great quality gear, just wanted to see a vid on how exactly to best make these work for a tight finish. I would have liked to see a vid showing the tapered version in situe ie between a couple of posts showing exactly the best way to get the tension you need. I figure I need to undo the turnbuckle as much as possible, cut the cable to length and see if it tensions up nicely. I'm sure it will be fine, thanks for the information Hammersmith DIY.

This is great, exactly what I was looking for as I only need to run 2 balustrades!

Been hearing about people that experience rusting of the stainless components. Looking to install this at a beach house and curious if that problem has surfaced and is so has there been any improvements to the technology that elevates such an issue? Thanks for your help.

Stainless is not a set and forget product. If you don’t keep it clean then you will have rust issues, particularly when used in a coastal setting.

@@HammersmithDIY is WD 40 effective in that setting or is there specific products for the job. Thanks again for all your help. Stay well

@@bobpattison1739 I am not sure. We sell a product called Peek polish, but no doubt their are other products which work well also.

Can I cleanly cut this cable with grinder? What blade?
@HammersmithDIY2 жыл бұрын
We don’t recommend it. It tends to want to fray when you use a grinder or blunt cutters.

Why are the two ends different? Couldn't one type fit both ends?
@HammersmithDIY3 жыл бұрын
The longer version could be used on both ends, but the short version allows you to save money, as the long version is more expensive. You need at least one of the long version as it is required to give you the tension that you need to add to the wire.

@4.18. There is a slot on the female that allows for the "other" spanner you were meant to use 😉
