Dirk - great breakdown. This is the only video review of ST Dupont Le Grand. I just bought the Brushed Palladium version and was very suprised that in did not have the ping. Dupont clearly stated that there was the classic 'ping' on this lighter. At £850 I was more than disappointed. Great review and fantastic knowledge. Cheers dude, Tonyx4

You probably bought a counterfeit. Brushed Palladium versions always have the ping.

Great Video! I bought a GOLD soft flame lighter from Dupont for £600 a few years ago, (Like the first one in your video) They LOOK and are amazing! so I think I might buy one of these! As I love the TORCH flame! I now get the brown one in your video! I also think they are worth it! Keep doing more Luxury Cigar Videos!

I do really like your videos, they're both informative, and a wonderful preamble before smoking the cigar myself! With regards to the Dupont lighter, I was really taken by these, and I am considering purchasing the Sunburst Le Grand, however i am disappointed by the lack of a ping...Is there any noise from these, or is it negligible? I have spoken to a supplier and they reassured me they do ping, but I know they're biased as they want to make a sale! Many thanks, Greg

Dupont is my number one choose and favorite lighter, specially line 2, I have 5 of them, in my opinion The second place is Dunhill, in the 3 place Cartier and 4 place is Davidoff lighters.. Whoever im totally disagree by price range offerings by Dupont company for those products.. they describe those lighters as a 18karat Gold, Palladium, Platinum, Silver.. in every single shops you see these information who the customers may thought the lighters is solid Gold or some parts are made with precious metals so the price range are reasonable but the true is , all Dupont lighters are made fully from cheap metals like copper and Aluminum or copper alloys like Brass, than plated with precious metals.. the value of precious metals that each Dupont lighter have is less than 40 euros.. The price range (minimum 550 up to 1200 euro) for tiny items who made fully from copper alloys are absolutely unacceptable..

Cyrille You can get just as good a lighter on Ebay or any antique shop for cheap. I have one that cost me $30 and yes it isn't Dupont, but it is very nice lighter and gets my cigars lit.

ive just bought a jet lighter, for £15 lol, does the same thing as this £900 one, The only thing i dont like with a jet flame is when youre outside you cant see the flame, im still getting used to that, burned a finger or two since i got it.

A few questions: How long is the guarantee? And how loud is the ping sound of the lighter compared to normal st dupont lighters and how loud is it in public? Because i do not want to annoy others but on the other hand i want them also to hear it softly.

always cracks me up when cigar smokers say soft flames are impossible. us cigarette smokers are used to using 50 cent gas station soft flame lighters and i assure you i have no problem with them. give me a dupont and i can light a churchill cigar in a hurricane.

more than a thousand quid for a lighter..... lets see what more expensive gear we can find next. sometimes i dont get the fascination with that type of stuff amongst cigar smokers. i'm much more interested in my cigar having nice qualities even if i 'll cut it with something cheaper than 10 bucks. it'll taste just as good. i understand it from the point of having a llove for cigars. i know the value of gear that you like. but the non-cigar people out there.. they think that is just decadent. maybe i've received too many strange looks and fake coughs already ;-) sometimes i'm thinking, flaunting that kind of gear makes us even more remote from the non-cigar smoking (majority) population. annoyed looks are taking the fun away from me ... well that was an undecisive rant. not sure where this went.
