if you run 3 rear toe, the JC S2 body and the front wing. DUDE! the car is stupid DIALED!! I have been running this car for a couple of months now and i am super happy with it. Also, i got the 1 slot front steering (carbon fiber) piece, and that made a worlds of a difference with the steering! I noticed with this car, that if you land while on heavy throttle, it lands much better! thanks for the awesome vids!

I like what you do even though I don't agree with you on certain points. I worked at a local shop for years and now that I am retired, it is nice to keep up with what is new. I have raced for three decades plus and I still like playing in the dirt even though I have raced most of the 1/10 scale classes. Keep up the good work!

I'm hoping Ty and Gord can get support going here like mad. We never had a main driver here in the States besides Josh Wheeler and no disrespect, but he wasn't on Ty's level so...with a huge main driver here, hopefully Xray will push along with the shops to get more parts available. Especially with more and more carpet and turf tracks popping up. By the way Jay, you remember the shop here in MI called Larry's right? Had that rubber-cork style track? Guess what...they moved into an old ABC warehouse building, which..the hobby shop is fricken huge now! And...the surface now, Astro baby! Once the track is finished and if you are ever up here again, come check it out and try out some turf.

Definitely agreed on using longer ball studs especially at the rear roll center holder. When adding more ball stud shims for tuning, One should use a 10mm instead of 8mm ball stud. This will decrease your chances of upgrading into a $30 aluminum part from a $8 stock part. BTW... when the ballcups come off a race...pray the marshall has pliers or hulk fingers that can push the ballcups in again. If ballcups pop, time to replace it.

i bought this car in 2016 when it released, ran it on a outdoor groomed med traction, car had a severe tendency to lose rear side bite and whip out. had another racer with same issue and he was a semi pro sponsored who struggled with the car. we both had the slap on landings causing the car to disorient. we worked the shocks endlessly. oils, pistons. springs, various losi, kyosho, it was a struggle. obviously xray finally realized this testing on their own dirt track with the changes they made for 2017 dirt version

Good review, thanks! Just bought the Dirt Edition. :) I have two Xray XB4 and want to try some 2WD too. We have slippery carpet indoors and gravel outdoors so almost everything we tweak is to get more grip. :) PS: Snap-ring pliers is like $10 for a set of four here in Sweden, guess they're about the same over there. Any home mechanic should have them anyway...

In terms of value, the thing that unfortunately makes this car one that I would likely never own is 1: as you said the lack of available parts in local hobby shops(which can be overcome) but also 2: the PRICE of the replacement parts. The replacement arms are sold individually as I'm sure people know and they cost as much for 1 as they do for a PAIR from say AE or TLR. So that being said, you have a car that if you want to travel around and run at tracks that don't carry parts that you basically have to spend a fortune stocking your box with parts or run the risk of not being able to run your car after a crash/break. The car might be durable however I'm not one of those people willing to risk not having those primary spare parts(arms/towers). A friend of mine that ran Yokomo cars would literally buy 2 kits, 1 to build and run and 1 to have a spare of EVERYTHING. My buddy just got the Xray Stadium truck with the laydown transmission and so far it seems really good but cost effective is not a word I would use to describe it so I'll just have to keep beating him with my dinosaur T5m(Hi Matt)
@robbieracer32947 жыл бұрын
Thats what I had to do with my PR Racing 2wd and 4wd. When I signed onto Hobby Pro and PR, I had to buy two kits of both cars to get parts. Ended up with enough parts but still got 12 sets of arms for each and other plastic parts as well as 2 kits of each. I now have enough spares to build 6 cars LOL. But, it wasn't that bad of deal, because the 4wd is still all stock as nothing has broke on it in the 7 months I've been running it and only had to change the turnbuckles over to Lunsford on the 2wd as those are the only thing that broke on the 2wd. So..durability is amazing, but I'm glad I have plenty of parts just in case

Jason, what have you heard about the new B64D? I have a B44.3 and was in the market for a new 4WD buggy and was on the fence if I should wait for the associated car or grab one of the others that you have highly rated like the hot bodies car that you thought was a durable next gen type buggy? I am an associated fan but I'm seeing that they are pricing way up which makes it not as much of a value as their previous cars so unless their new car is as good as the other teams I will get something new. Thank you as always Sir!

But, he also says Ty isn't thrilled that Xray is sticking with pivot balls for their 8th scale program. Don't you think Ty and Gord knew exactly what they were getting into with Xray??!! My local track is medium to large size, with a dusty-ish clay surface. I'm interested in the TLR 22 3.0, but what turn motor do you recommend for the surface and the size? The thing I don't get, even in Europe and here, most people run 2 hole pistons, usually 1.7 or 1.6 and Xray still doesn't include them in the kits? Umm ok. My friends who live in Germany are also puzzled by this and there Xray is like Associated here.

I agree about the machined pistons, especially given the price of their 8 scales and pistons on a tree in those kits..no. If I pay 700 bucks for a kit and see "luxury" model written on the front, piston trees are not what I want to see in the kit itself lol. I can forgive this in the 10th scales, but 8 scales are suppose to be the "big daddy" of rc and 700 bucks is big daddy money. No machined pistons is not big daddy designs.

@robbieracer32947 жыл бұрын
Don't settle on a kit just because it's cheap. If you can afford to spend the money, get what you really want, it's worth it in the rc world to spend the extra money. The BZ stuff isn't bad, but you get what you pay for. If you are going to be hitting a track, spend the money and get a track proven buggy. Trust me, when I first got into rc, I thought I would save some money and go cheaper...in like two months I ended up getting an Associated because the cheaper car I was running just wasn't holding as far as durability.

I've had a strong hunch years ago that Juraj Hudy of xray never liked Americans. Made excuses for not coming to an ifmar held in the states for 1/10 off-road. Lets go of Paul Lemieux who would make the amain in tc world's. Made more excuses that the price to compete at another world's was too much, coincidentally held in the US again. Now selling this dirt edition for the same price yet with crappy plastic towers, which does not help with performance in any way. I don't hear much about any American xray drivers. They probably get paid kibbles and bits. I don't support xray because of these reasons. Xray cars are just Schumacher cars with less steering but more oversteer. juraj was originally a Schumacher employee who tweaked the steering and called it an xray.
