Shadow Gambit cursed crew was awesome. A little slow at the start, but even after 50 hours I was still finding new things I could do. It's really depressing they closed down, there's not many devs like them anymore, they were super consistent, and stuck with the genre they loved.

Technically I don’t think they shut down just yet. Their last announcement mentioned they are working on major content drop for ShadowGambit, and I don’t think that’s been done yet. But it is Mimimi’s last project and studio is winding down. Sad times.

23 was amazing for gamers, we got spoiled hard! Went back to Witcher 3 with the next gen update, got my letter from Hogwarts, fought the Horus in Horizon, I've continued Cal's story in Survivor, saved Hyrule again, I've Hunted down Eikons in FF16, I've visited the stars in Starfield, I've rescued the president of NUSA in CP2K77, i still gotta finish Spiderman 2 but i made the mistake to start BG3 during that playthrough. What a freakin year!!!

COD modern warfare assassin creed, bioshock, portal, mass effect, crysis, stalker, the witcher, Skate, Arma...on top of that mario galaxy, paper mario, okami, god of war 2, metroid prime 3, final fantasy 12, halo 3, ratchet and clank, the darkness. Yeah not even close. Still a great year tho.

Dredge is a perfect weekend game. It ends very abruptly, but it's fun all the way through. Hopefully there'll be a sequel because the foundations are brilliant. I also had a good time with 'Artist Life Simulator' which is an excellent little card game with fantastic storytelling and mechanics. Very niche, but well worth a punt.

I was really pleasantly surprised by this video (though I regularly enjoy your videos) and think the title undersells it. Despite watching a lot of video game content on KZbin, this video covered a lot of games I hadn't heard or or didn't know much about and really put them on my radar and made me interested in them. I’ve respected you for many years and follow your advice. I just got a PS5 and finished Demon’s Souls 4 times. I’m 66 and I’m not very good at games but I’m obsessed with them. Remnant 2 is on my radar but I fear it will be to difficult for me as I play solo. I truly appreciate what you do, your guidance is key to my game buying choices. 🙏

Remnant 2 is brilliant, glad you highlighted it here again. Being one of the first few UE5 games it launched with some performance issues, however I'm happy to say they've fixed every pain point I experienced. Co-op is so well done as well, great to play with some friends

Age of Wonders 4 is probably my favorite game of the year. Combine elements of Civ, Might and Magic, and table top Warhammer Fantasy and you get a truly amazing experience.

I'm really glad to see Trepang2 on this list. It is very often overlooked by most reviewers. It didn't even get nominated for best indie game or best action game at the game awards despite being amazing enough to deserve either. That being said, it is unfortunate but this list also overlooked some other truly amazing games such as Ghostrunner 2 and Armored Core 6.

Great list and great job on reminding about the games that are actually worth of our time, but are often pushed away by overhyped cash grabs that everybody online focuses on.

My one recommendation that has been criminally overlooked. Is Astral Ascent, 2-D action roguelike (yes I can hear the audible groans). This game has had some of the best bosses I've experienced in the genre. And they get better after you've completed a few runs. Fantastically animated, with these superb cut in animations prior to boss fights that are worth looking up. And a soundtrack worth looking up too. Ah, and four different characters that play drastically different, all enjoyable in their own ways. And they all have seperate stories, and unique interactions with the 13 bosses, a lot of interactions. And those same bosses have a lot of interactions with each other. You can just tell the devs love these characters. My one complaint is how core features are given to you. These devs expect you to fail often at the start, so some progression related NPCs don't unlock until after a few runs. To me it's an issue because upon failing my second run, I saw a waterfall of unlocks. Went to the NPCs that the unlock corresponds to and they had nothing for me, yet. Oh and well there are four worlds with three bosses each, you fight one per run. And I ran into a loop of having similar boss rotations run after run. And that was slightly annoying. My average runs were about 50mins to an hour. And I reached an ending, by about 20hrs. Which requires you win 7 runs, with tier 6 being quite the mother^#&@;$. But worth getting to just to see some more fantastic animation. I'm in the 0.1% club and that depresses me, more people need to see it. And if you want more, after tier 6, you have difficulty modifiers that increase your tiers. And a lot of them are f$#^$ed up. Max tier borders on the "I hope you have God in your back pocket" level of difficulty. I'll be surprised if anyone ever completes it.

Aside from Like A Dragon games that are released this year like Ishin and Gaiden, I enjoyed a lot of Bramble, Hifi Rush, Dredge, Laika Aged Through Blood, Blasphemous 2 and of course Baldur's Gate 3. But I think Bramble deserve lots more recognition from people. It's so atmospheric, weird and gorgeous

My shoutouts: Little Goody Two Shoes - quite unique horror game with 90s anime aesthetics and one of the best sountracks this year IMO. GrimGrimoire Once More - the remake of old PS2 Vanillaware game, must have if you want to play some RTS game on Playstation or Switch.

I've barely played any games this year, only RE4 and currently AW2. I passed on FF16, the demo didn't grab me at all and this one felt off for an FF. Spider-Man I passed as I'm burned out on Marvel. Jedi Survivor I'm waiting for a sale due to the poor launch state. Hope I'll play more in 2024, already looking forward to FF Rebirth, SW Outlaws, STALKER 2, Black Myth, Hellblade, I'm sure more I can't think of right now.

I know that the hardcore ARPG crowd has been down on Diablo 4, but as someone who likes to play a large variety of games, D4 has been my go to “popcorn” gaming experience, when I’m just looking for something to kick back and sort of casually game. Really been enjoying it. So many great games to dive hard into when I feel like something more intensive as well. Just a really fun year to be a gamer.

I’m gonna play my 2023 backlog well into late 2024. Insane year. Only Played hogwarts , atomic heart , RE4 , Diablo 4 , dead space , ff 16, MK 1 so far. Still got spidey 2 , phantom liberty , armored core 6 , Alan wake 2 , lies of p , Jedi survivor , baldurs gate , starfield , lords of the fallen , yakuza ishin and gaiden left to play .

The game that I've had the most fun with this year is Turbo Overkill. A Cyberpunk boomer shooter with unique weapons and cybernetic abilities. A must play for fast paced action enthusiasts.

Remnant 2 - can a single player offline gamer get the most this has to offer? Or, like the first one, is it geared toward and often considered best during co-op? My favs of 2023: Remnent 2/ Baldurs Gate 3/ Dead Space - and my number one: Resident Evil 4 Remake, just an incredible remake, plus capcom totally reimagined the Seperate Ways dlc and made it 100x better than the original dlc. Seperate Ways is a $10 DLC that shames a full priced $60 MW3. Been a great year for gaming. I enjoyed SM2 but like god of War Ragnarok I think it just did everything the first game did but more bloated - good, but not close to the excitement of the first game.
