I was 27 minutes in when I realized... Thor FINALLY LABELLED THE GAMES! He didn't just start showing it while MAYBE mentioning the name in an off hand bitted way that made it almost impossible to figure out what the fuck he was actually playing, which was literally my only problem I ever had with these videos! Dude I busted out laughing several times throughout this video. The cat screaming, the "American commercial" the uk playstation thing. The Russian krypto. There's all these like few seconds long bits densely packed that just crack me up. You either found my comedy kryptonite or I'm just overly exhausted and going delusional... Or both.

There are a ton now, it's just harder for open world, for those they allow timed trials of full games in most cases on stuff like PS premium which is same price as demo discs back in day. Steam also lets you return things and is soon to have dedicated time trials.

I hope that things turn around for you. Don't let fear or worries take up your consciousness or energy, or lose too much focus on the things that mean something to you. The world and mind can be a heaven or hell... Fight the bad by putting your energy into anything that has a positive connection for you. And a little venting can be good too. Keeping busy sometimes, and some moments of silence to recharge.

I feel the same way about culture differences in products/design trends. I think it’s fascinating how a person can enjoy something mainly because they just grew up in a society it was popular in. A good example is Japan and JRPGs and Brazil with Sonic the hedgehog. If any of that makes sense lol

Loved the PS1 demo discs. Getting Pizza Hut and a demo disc was peak 90s. I had three that stand out in my mind - one that I'm assuming must have been a pack in with the console that included a demo for Ray Storm, some submarine/diving game I can't remember the name of, IQ, Armored Core, and a bunch of videos. The other discs I had included demos for Gran Turismo, Crash 3, Tony Hawk, Ape Escape, Final Fantasy 8, Medi-Evil, Tomb Raider, and... maybe Cool Boarders? Too bad I never had a Dual Shock 1 for Ape Escape... Maybe it's my autistic tendencies, but I always loved the demo discs having a bunch of random *stuff* to check out and do without having to fuss with much. Not needing to change discs but still getting to experience a bunch of different games in a convenient package usually featuring hella slick presentation... They, just like the 90s, were a vibe and we'll probably never get back there, but at least we have these awesome memories and awesome people to reminisce about them with.

Despite never having played any of the Wipeout games as a child (too busy with the sad Beyblade game and fuckign Nanosaur) my first ever experience with house music was picking up the Wipeout 2097 OST (or Wipeout XL in my region) at my neighbour's garage sale which definitely formed a lot of my music taste as a kid. Probably wasn't nearly as influential in Canada as it was in Europe but still mindblowing as a kid who's sole exposure to music was 2000s radio rock and whatever had the coolest album art at the thrift store

Watching this video gave me such a visceral feeling of gross nostalgia. Meaning the only person who owned a PS1 when I was growing up was my grandfather and whenever we visited, they'd let us crowd around the upstairs TV and play PS1 instead of spending any time with our relatives. He owned a copy of Croc and a copy of Motor Toon Grand Prix 2. Those were the only ones the kids were allowed to play. I remember them being so weird and foreign to me because we only had Nintendo at our house and these games had almost a weird panic-inducing strangeness to them that was only made worse by the odd, rubbery controller sticks. I never actually understood why Croc was so hard to navigate and why moving him felt like learning how to walk all over again, until Thor said "tank controls". I didn't know what tank controls were back then, I'd never played a game with them. No wonder that game haunts my dreams.

Destrega!! Have half remembered that demo for years but couldn’t find what that game was called, thanks! I feel there was so many variations of this demo? The one I had had some shitty scuba diver game and a few others - def the devil dice and kula world too. Great memories 🥲

I remember this demo disc! I think the home screen was a bit different in the US but Croc & Destrega just dumping you in w/ no context made it stick in my mind 20 something years later. Your _Mysterious 3D Fighters_ video was 10/10 all around I binge your longer vids for sleep sometimes 🥰 19:20 AYO they reall took Pai Chan (Virtua Fighter) and mansplained her model til her pigtails shrunk and her TriBiceps grew. I mean peep the outfit/hair/HAT/color scheme like I know VF1 def came out before this thing, but what about VF2? Can they blame the first game's ruthless polygon models & say they're so hard to read it couldn't possibly be based on her?

The main theme from Destrega is one of my favourite pieces of music in all of video games.

Brooo, the demo disc menu soundtrack unlocked a memory I didn't know I had or even know where it came from. If you zone out the bugs bunny game actually looks pretty good.
