Fun Fact: Gatorade was invented by scientists at the University of Florida in 1965 and was originally called Gator Aid. It was available in two flavors, lemon-lime and orange until the 80’s, when fruit punch and citrus cooler were introduced. It wasn’t until the late 90’s that it became available in broader range of flavors. Then Jacob was born, and the CEO set his sights on an official bathtub review. 💁🏻‍♂️

I like fruit punch and grape. Also I like the low sugar Gatorades. That's because the regular ones have too much sugar and the zero ones have sucralose which is just as bad for you as aspartame. Also I swear there was some sort of kiwi green flavored one like kiwi apple or kiwi something or whenever it was like kiwi with one other flavor. I really like that one also.

I agree about grape flavored drinks.. I'm a kid of the 80s/90s. Grape flavored dimetapp cold medicine was very popular so now that's all I can taste when I drink grape flavored drinks.. back in the day my older brother was an athlete and he drank tons of Gatorade, back then it tasted so thick, like syrup, especially the Orange and the yellow flavors and it made me want to vomit also. The Gatorade today tastes way better.

Reading this comment just made me realize the 80s ruined grape flavor for me. I hate grape flavored anything because it reminds me of medicine. I toss the grape flavored skittles, gummies, fruit snacks, just any grape mixed with other candy flavors. I never really attributed it to growing up in the 80s before, but you're 100% right. There was this other medicine that ruined flavors for me. I think the medicine was called "triamedic"? Not sure the spelling. Even today I'll get a smell of something and it brings back that particular medicine in my head. Same with the medicine "ceclor"...not sure the spelling. It was bright pink, very thick, and had to be kept in the fridge. So gross.

Btw - electrolyte - literally is just referring to salt. We need salt to properly convert things into energy, and we often sweat a lot of it out when we work out. You don't sweat vitamins and minerals.. so the only thing it's really replacing is your water and salt levels. Just a fancy word to say just that.

When i ran cross country everyone would pour out about half the gatorade (pretty sure it was half), and then pour water in the other half. So it was half gatorade and half water in the bottle, and you shake to mix it. I forgot why people did that? I'm sure there was some reasoning behind it.
