I've watched every Panthers game this season and the wild observation is that they don't seem to care about game results. I mean -- they want to win, obviously, but it's entirely about process. They keep coming at you. All they care about is hitting and scoring goals.

This is a life philosophy as well. "I am only as great as I do anything." You will get an equivalent result from what you put in, subtracted lack of natural talent. Obviously the Panthers dont lack much talent as these are world class players on their respective teams at this point in the NHL season but it still holds true. The Rangers are no slouch. I expect a gutty counter punch.

They ONLY care about winning. Just listen to Tkachuk after last nights game. It doesnt matter who scores, or when, the only thing that mattes is the win. Bob as well. When asked about the shutout, he didnt care, it is just about the wins. This team is built to bully you, knock you down, and win the game. They could care less about anything else.
@rthfalconer1306
@rthfalconer1306 27 күн бұрын
They learned a hard lesson after winning the presidents trophy, scoring more goals than any team since the Mario Lemieux Penguins, only to get swept by Tampa. Paul Maurice came in day one and told them that the rush game vanishes in the playoffs, and if they want to win they have to play defense, dump and chase, and forecheck. It took them all of last year as a learning process to figure it out, and when they finally did, they got to the Finals. They've been playing this type of game all year and it's a really hard way to play and the players have to buy in, but yes it is about process and the way they play more than the result of any individual game.

If I am a Leaf fan, watching how a divisional rival completely dismantled the President’s trophy winner, I would be pissing my pants. The intensity, the skill level, the dedication to team defence, the solid goaltending, these are all things that the current makeup of the Leafs don’t have. This is what you need to do to win playoff hockey games later in the rounds. It’s rough and tough out there, prima donnas like Nylander, Tavares, Marner and Matthews don’t come close at all to matching the same qualities as their counterparts on the Panthers - Tkaczuk, Bennett, Barkov, Reinhart, Montour…… I’m a Blackhawk fan, I truly believe the Leafs made a huge mistake hiring Berube. Who they should have taken is Joel Quenneville. He is just as tough as nails with his players as Berube will be, but at the same time understanding of what needs to be done to translate regular season success into playoff success. Berube’s Stanley Cup win in 2019 was in many ways a fluke. Leafs will find out the hard way Berube isn’t the answer as bench boss. Mark my words.

As a Florida fan i have to say i was super happy how Florida did defend against NYR. Rangers have super good rush game with super good puck moving defence man. I dont know if Florida as a team was better than Rangers on game 1 but Maurice did craft a game plan against Rangers what worked so well. Also Brick wall Bob did make sure that all hope was lost even when Rangers had good quality shots. Again looking this game 1 i think its still going to be super tight series and i cant wait what Rangers will do for game 2. First time on this playoffs they need to adapt there game so interested to see if they start to cycle the puck bit more or have more puck time on there own side/neutral ice. If they try to play rush game against Florida i cant see them winning 4 games so its going to be interested. But then again if Bob is like this for the semis i dont know any team who can win 4 games out of 7. Also Barkov again played super good defensive game taking out several good forward changes with just good game read.

Literal snoozefest of a game. There's a reason I had panthers in 5 before the series. Rangers have been brutally bad since game 4 of the Canes series. Kreider pulled them off the mat in game 6 but they haven't been good for 4 games.

Even in the first few games of the Canes series, Igor was bailing them out. They probably would’ve been down 2-1 after 3 if he wasn’t playing out of his mind. The Rangers have yet to prove that they’re the juggernaut people are making them out to be. Edit: on top the gap in goaltending, the Canes terrible special teams helped too.

I wouldn't put so much stock on game 1 (see the previous series versus Boston). Cats were able to punch the Rangers in the mouth and thoroughly outplayed them in this game, but Friday night is a new game that once again starts at 0 a piece. They gotta keep that up, which I have no doubt they will do, but I'm sure New York will also be ready to adjust; that's what Finals-caliber teams will do. As a Cats fan myself, I'm looking forward to it.

Even when the relentless checking of Florida lets up for a chance at the net bob is there waiting absolutely locked in. Whoever thought this series was going to be easy has had their little red and blue blinders on. Florida thrives with the challenge. You can revisit this in a week and call me crazy, but that wasn’t too bad a game for the Rangers. Even though the Panthers played sit back defense (really well), the Rangers were still in it. Sure there’s rebound and tic-tac goals in most games, but that own goal was genuinely flukey. Apart from that and the empty netter it’s a 1-0 game in the Rangers’ 2nd worst game of the entire playoffs. And the score being as lopsided as it is makes it a great wake up call. They’ll take Game 2 and it’s a series again.

Credit to the Panthers for their defense and forecheck and for taking the Rangers out of their game and making them look mediocre. Rangers had long stretches with nothing there. But they did have their chances. They had higher expected goals for the game and one more high danger chance. A couple of breakaways and a couple of posts. So they could have made this a game, but this time the bounces did not go their way at all like they did against Carolina. The concerning thing is that there seemed to be no energy in MSG and with the Rangers. The vibe was not good and the Rangers overall did not look up to the task while the Panthers just played their game. The Panthers didn't look that impressive either offensively so that makes the game feel even rougher. Rangers have to get some more shots on goal and put some in the net. They have looked very mediocre and lost for 3 straight games now and were it not for an amazing effort by Shesterkin and Kreider and some luck, they would have lost game 6 against the Canes. This looks to be a daunting task now for the Rangers. They looked like they lost the series already.

Two very good teams, but I think Florida is the better team. If Florida can get more sustained time in the O zone throughout the game and keep that great defensive play, this could be a 4 game series. I have to say I don't understand why they disallowed that panthers goal. Yes Lomberg was in the crease, but he didn't touch Shesterkin and was actually starting to leave the crease when Lindgren pushed him onto Shesterkin. That contact was only made because Rangers player action. I am under impression that attacking player can be in goalie crease if he doesn't interfere with the goalie. Otherwise they would call those multiple times a game. Not for a penalty but just stoppage. I think few years ago they were consistent with these but nowadays they just flip the coin. Other thing that bothered me was Shesterkin hitting Luostarinen with the shield when again Rangers players pushed him to the goalie. I thought when goalies do that so hard and violently it's pretty much automatic penalty, but what a surprise when it's rangers it's not.
