I bought a 2 owner, low mileage one 3 years ago and did all of the 100k mile maintenance and have done an upgrade whenever something breaks. I added a VRP 77mm pulley with an unrestricted tune when the blower pulley bearing failed and did a split cooler and secondary intercooler when the s/c pump started getting noisy. I did BC adjustable coilovers when one of the front struts failed last year. It has developed a small exhaust leak which is probably a cracked manifold so she is getting a set of catted long tube headers in the spring and I recently discovered MK Ultra which makes tuned TCUs that make it shift much better than the slow, soft, factory shifts from the 722.6 that has made a night and day difference in the response and shift crispness. Not a cheap car to own my any means but if you do your own work and shop around for the best prices they are worth it to have nearly 500hp sleeper that nobody sees coming. 😉

Best 7 things you can do with this car are 1: fit a larger inter cooler for the supercharger, 2: Split the cooling system, 3: Upgrade the intercooler pump, 4: Fit a 77mm clutched pulley, 5: Fit 550cc injectors, 6: Get a tune (Eurocharged, VRP, German Muscle etc etc), 7: 1 step colder plugs. That will give you the best price to performance ratio - assuming you do the work yourself you'd be into it for about $2,000 to $2,500. I went a little further with short headers and a 92mm throttle body but really the cost of those and having them fitted was not worth the gain. Oh and get the supercharger serviced as well. Great fucking car.

100% agree with everything above! Stay tuned, I just picked up a 2003 CL55 AMG and in the process of rebuilding the motor! Gonna be a cool transformation and engine rebuild video series, I plan to do stage 4 so around 700 hp crank out of it, first video dropping soon!

In 2014 i purchased a 2004 platinum blue e55 with 82k miles for $12,500 and i daily drove it for 3 years, sold it at 96k miles, bullet proof motor and transmission, only issue i had was the front air matic shocks, which i replaced with arnott shocks. Such a great car, I’m looking to purchase another one and get bc coilovers to eliminate the air matic issue and for better handling.

There’s some with 500k miles on original engine and transmission! Personally I’d just replace new air shocks and keep the air suspension. Air vs spring, air has more comfort on bumps in my opinion and floats more, and you get electronic dampening with the button vs manual.

@Damian Kikolski couldn't agree more with you on that you mentioned the e60 m5 I have one and not many people know how to properly put them in park and usually leave it in neutral with the brake up that is incorrect. But yes the cool little details set it off

Disconnected the Airmatic module under the hood, and pulled the fuse for it. That gives you the grey warning which can be cleared with the button.

How different is driving e55k on coil overs? Do you prefer coil overs vs airmatic? Thanks

I experienced both, and honestly personally I would leave Airmatic on any Mercedes that has it. Just because you retain the dampening adjustments with the button, and it’s a little more comfortable and smoother of a ride. The coils are definitely a little stiffer, but they offer more adjustability for fitment. Coils aren’t bad at all, ride is still pretty nice, but I would leave Airmatic on personally.

They have gone up in value. A few years ago you could find them for 10k all over the place. Now ones with 200k miles are going for 15k

There's still plenty of them around me selling for $10k, seen a few even cheaper at the auctions. I agree with you, for a really spotless low mile example they go for more, but you can definitely get them for 10k all day.
