Great video, thanks! I'm actually looking into buying my first 3d scanner to use with 3d printer and I'm stuck between 3DMakerPro Mole and Revopoint POP 3. Do you have any thoughts on this, which one would be better for scanning everyday mid size objects and small/mid parts from different devices?
@ArtisansofVaul14 сағат бұрын
@zofia766 So that's a tricky one. First I should say I haven't used the Mole but I have used a different 3DMakerPro scanner so bare that in mind. The Mole says it has a better resolution, which should lead to slightly (and this is sub-mm) better accuracy. So that is something in favour of the Mole. On the other hand the Pop3 plus has a "zoom" feature which I found really improves the detail it can get but it scans a smaller area when using that so for smaller objects is more versatile (but I should say neither will be as detailed as something dedicated to smaller objects like the MINI2). Both the scanners you mention use IR to scan so can be used for faces no issue. For me the big one is that the RevoScan software from Revopoint (so the Pop3) is the best software available and it keeps getting better as they are regularly updating it. It gives you a lot of control of you want it for how the scans are processed or you can do a one click option. In contrast the 3DMakerPro software was disappointing (and that's being generous to it) and there are very few options to tweak meaning the scans get over processed in my opinion. This gives less sharp edges and a loss of details. Personally the software would lead me towards the Pop3 plus. The zoom mode is a bonus. I hope that helps. If you do decide to get one and wouldn't mind using an affiliate link (it costs you no extra) it would be really appreciated as its one of the things people can do to help support the channel and keep it going and it costs you no extra. 👍🏻 Revopoint POP3 Plus: shrsl.com/4nrpd 3DMakerPro Mole: shrsl.com/4r5cq

Hi! I really liked your video, thank you very much for sharing it. I have a question... I understand that it can be quite difficult for scanners to scan black or metallic objects. How does the Pop 3 Plus handle this?
@ArtisansofVaulАй бұрын
@CrazyKwad Thanks so much and good question. I'd say its a bit better but not in a way I would recommend it for that purpose specifically. Having the LED lights on (colour mode) helps a lot. The new scanner they have coming out should be much better at black/metallic objects but it's going to be more expensive I'm sure as it's more complex tech

What´s the difference between the Mini2 and the POP3 plus? Could I scan something as small as a 1/72 toy soldier (about 1 inch, 25mm)? Do I need to use Blender to clean the scans? Hope ypu can help me with these questions. Cheers
@ArtisansofVaul2 ай бұрын
@toysoldiernostalgia Neither of them will create a perfect copy, nothing will (well outside of some hugely expensive kit). You'd be better off with the MINI2 as it's designed for that level of detail to a greater degree. You can use other things to clean scans too but I'd prefer Blender. Of you want to check out what the MINI2 can do I have a video on it here including scanning some 28mm models: kzbin.info/www/bejne/rYWododqbbSUiZI

Excellent timing to make a next video about cleaning 3d scans in Blender. For example that piece of armour))))

@@Yamanoochi That could be a good video. Maybe some tips and tricks of wasted time when 3D printing.... I'll put that on the list for a future video. 👍🏻

Thank you for the detailed test. If you would compare the Pop3 with the Range2... What would be your choice?

@@BS-Daywalker That's a tricky question to answer without knowing what you're intending to scan?

@@ArtisansofVaul Thanks for the quick reply. I would like to be as flexible as possible. I don't just want to scan certain things, but just take my hobby (3D printing) to the next level. I would like an "all-rounder" that makes top quality and is easy to use. Is there a clear recommendation for this?

Great review, I love this. I'm interested in the difference between the pop3 plus and the Creality Otter. The pricing is close and the specs seem to be better for the otter but I'd love to see a side by side.
@ArtisansofVaul2 ай бұрын
@brandonmullen2328 My opinion would be get the Pop3. I haven't used the Otter but having used another Creality scanner (the ferret) the software from Revopoint is vastly superior making the process MUCH easier. What are you looking to scan, out of interest?

You look like you'd be an awesome guitar player Jokes aside, the video looked really professional and i honestly really like listening to you talk and explain

@bread7809 Thanks so much. That's really appreciated as I never know how the on person videos will do and I have another one I'm recording. Unfortunately I have to admit that my sense of timing/rhythm sucks so as much as I'd love to be able to play the guitar it has been a hopeless venture 😅
