E3 Xeons are probably still the way to go. The E3-1240 v2 is about $20 cheaper than the i7-3770 on eBay and they're basically the same thing. OEM systems tend to take these as long as there is a BIOS version with a microcode update. That will overwrite whatever original support list claimed by the vendor.

A used i7 7700k, the best CPU for my PC sells for more than a brand new Ryzen 5 2600 or a used Ryzen 5 with AM4 motherboard. But I don't know if buying into AM4 is even worth it anymore, because it won't take long until something new comes out.

@@youcefouabel330 Your graphics card is bending on the right side due to the heavy weight of the heatsink (and possibly the cables pulling it down), if it bends any further it can cause some damage to your GPU and the PCIe slot. when i upgraded from the FX-8350 ive had for like 6yrs or so to the current R5 3600 system, since i had to get a new mobo anyway i decided to go with the Asrock X570 Phantom Gaming 4 instead of an older mobo. honestly, at the time of purchase, i got the mobo for $140. it was the cheapest X570 mobo i could find that im not gonna lie, its by far the nicest mobo i have ever used in the almost 30yrs ive been doing PC stuff. i hate how it takes a while to get through the Asrock startup part before loading OS, but once it does its so fast that i can literally blink and its on and booted up. thats what i get for also deciding to go with a m.2 pcie 4.0 ssd and using it as my boot/os drive. lol... yeah, im so impressed with how night and day it is in comparison to my older 8350 system in speeds and basically in every other way possible. dont get me wrong, i for sure got out of the 8350 system i had for years what i couldve ever hoped for, but man, this 3600 is crazy.. since i did get a X570 mobo, i know that if i want to upgrade my cpu, i absolutely could do so without having to worry too much. i know that if i take care of the mobo, itll last me YEARS like my old one did. i should still be able to use it in 6 years. it wont be the best, but like my older 8350 system did, itll do what i need it to for years to come.

Happy last day of June. My gaming rig is in MSI x99a gaming pro motherboard with an Intel Core i7-6800k that I've overclocked to 4.4 ghz, 6 cores 12 threads, 16 gb g.skill ddr4 3000 mhz ram in quad channel, GTX 1080 graphics card, and now for storage, I have a Samsung 970 evo plus m.2 500 gb ssd with another Samsung 860 evo 250 gb sata ssd, Crucial 275 gb sata ssd, and a 3 tb Seagate hard drive. Not the latest and greatest hardware that I have, but I think my gaming rig here would have been high end in 2016. It still handles any new games that I put on it like Fallout 76 wastelanders, run at 1080p ultra settings and usually get 70 to 90 fps. Using an Acer Predator 1080p gsync monitor at 180hz refresh, so I guess thats why Fallout 4 and 76 usually by default has my framerate capped at 90 fps which would be half of 180 hz refresh. What I like about most of the Intel "K" series CPUs is that they seem to be able to overclock a good ways.

What do you recommend upgrading from an rx 570?
@Jacked153
@Jacked153 4 жыл бұрын
Quick note on the first submission, I was in a similar situation with a 2600. I did the upgrade they were asking about here and it was a decent little upgrade but nothing ground breaking. If you can get a nice OC on the 3770k it might be worth it over a 2600 which cannot be OC'd. But if you cannot OC the 3770K to at least 4.5GHZ I wouldn't even think about it. Frankly even if you get the 3770K overclocked decently well you're still delaying the inevitably needed platform update... Basically if you're short on money get the 3770K and try to OC it a little bit, if you can save for a complete upgrade to the platform, cpu etc I'd highly recommend that as 1155 is showing it's age now.

When it comes to laptop thermals, just watch various laptop reviews like Dave2D. I think the new Ryzen laptops are really nice! And with Intel you can always use software like Throttle Stop to down clock the CPU and make the laptop run more efficiently. There is a KZbin channel called Bob of All Trades and he makes laptop videos. He specializes in power and thermals and is very informative

I am currently build my gaming tower to replace my laptop so far ive got a case a 650w PSU, 2 500GB Hard drives, 2 motherboards 1 is a Asus prime a320m and the other one is a MSI B450-A Pro (not sure if it works) and a CPU ryzen 5 2600 and the best part I got all this for free now all I need is RAM, a GPU and maybe an SSD. Have you got any tips on where to find parts for cheap in the UK or got any parts you want to send me to finish my build :)

Could you do a Video explaining AMD Cpu's and Gpu's for those like me who are currently only knowledgable on Intel and Nvidia? This I mainly the reason why I refuse to try much of Amd's tech range as I have not much clue without having to Google specifically what is better than what where as with Intel you know an i5 is more than likely going to be better than most i3's or a Gtx 1050 is bettter than a 750ti?

AMDs naming system is MUCH simpler than Intel's. R3s are quad core, R5 are 6 core, r7 are 8 core, R9 are 12+ cores. All have 'hyper threading' (SMT) except some r3s. The first number represents the Zen generation: 1600 Gen 1, 2600 1+, 3600 Zen 2. And there's about a 20% uplift per generation. Motherboards wise the only things that make sense ATM are b450 or b550 depending on whether you are buying an older cheaper CPU or 550 for newer ones.
