I don’t know if it’s just me but I miss the times when it had 3D animated monster on top of the card. I love spirit caller and it’s one of the most perfect yugioh game for me but this one is also amazing but I do prefer to have a 3D monster on top of it, it gives me the real yugioh feels.

@Beatles life eh game itself was only $20 and you could skip most of the dlc if you wanted (I only bought like 2 of them). Had at least 100 hours of play on it...that is damn good value for a game nowadays and this version is $40 and includes everything from the original and all dlc and adds the link evolution stuff. There's a game on steam called Faeria, and it has a very similar style to Dungeon Dice Monsters. It's sort of DDM mixed with Hearthstone. Might be worth checking out if you like those style of games.

But the AI was too dumb, you could just spam level 1 monsters to get to the other side asap and then kill the leader before the AI even knew what's going on. Sadly I never had a chance to play agains a real player, so I have no idea if the game would be fun.

@@MegaFirefox34 If you mean the Fairy Tale archtype, as in Glass Slippers, Curse of Thorns, etc then they are in the game. I just checked and I have Glass Slippers in my inventory in-game. At least the ones that have TCG/OCG counterparts. If you mean the Fairy -Tail- cards like Luna, Sleeper, etc they are also in the game via the Jesse Booster Pack unlocked through story. The problem is that with master rule four they changed the entire game, the where gonna make you be able to change between the two but decided not to, so an update to the old game wouldn’t work, it has to be a new game

Great review & explanations I had the original and everyone online would use dlc decks and I never wanted to buy the almost 10 docs Link evolution came out at 40!! I was like no, then they had on sale for 13$ I grabbed it and it's to me fun My best advice get it on sale, cause your basically getting all the dlc and few extra cards

I want them to flesh out the booster pack buying and make it the most important part of the game. I want to spend 2 hours playing and only be able to afford one pack. Have the pack be fully 3D rendered with full reflective aluminum packaging. Have a beautiful opening noise. Slowly show the back of the card and then reveal the cards one by one on a pedestal and an overhead light. Then if you get rare cards you can display them in beautiful wooden frames.

I recently got this game and I like it a lot but I’ve yet to have it crash on my switch and even using story based decks this game gives quite a challenge. For example tèa has so many equip and support magic cards for her monsters she got a magician of faith from 300 to 5500 attack in one turn

I can't wait to see how bad my Slipher Control deck screws with the AI in this game. In the 3ds Yu-Gi-Oh game, there was one duel that took me three hours because the AI took 20 minutes each turn after the Draw Phase.

I don't know how the game handles mr4 for the early generations, but almost every archetype received a new link support, there are only few decks who got screwed with the change of rules.

I phased out of Yugioh around the time of Battle City on the GBA (100+ Hrs of usage out of that gem) Saw this in the Switch shop for half price so thought it might be worth checking out, I'm vaguely aware of all the new mechanics in the modern Yugioh game and didn't want to purchase straight away in case I found out in the opening duel all the decks from the Anime had been modded to incorperate all the modern fuckery haha

My biggest complaint about this game is Link summoning. We finally get a lot of decks with far more support compared to the last game but that means nothing since Link summoning/Master Rule 4 greatly reduces the fun/playability of them. Nearly all my favourite decks are no longer at full power (Buster Blader, Red Dragon Archfiend, Blue Eyes Felgrand Rank 8 spam etc) I'm still unsure if I want to get the game

The downside for me is the pack Openings... I literally go through 100 packs for a treeborn frog... only not to get it and get more than 3 of a certain card which just seem to disappear. I wish they put a Duel links pack opening system in so once you open a certain amount of packs you will get all the contents.

@@taneaapochicago Really all they need is an update. I mean, they did add 2 new sets of cards to the arc 5 series, for free, a couple years ago. I don't expect to get everything with Vrains and the new rules for free, but 1 duel and it's reverse definitely isn't too much to ask for.

You're all probably aware by now, but Konami has already stated they won't be updating the old games. And that is because they can't, they made this version almost from scratch, since Master Rule 4 is always in effect, and it affects any deck that has an extra deck or uses Pendulums, including the Duel Monsters era duels.

Maybe I'll get the next version of this game. When they include more characters for the first 4 generations. They insist on including characters with literally no cards for their deck like Valon and Blair but won't include Noah who has most of his cards made real and even Leon who got 9 cards from his deck a year ago. And Ally's Aquaactress cards came out at the same time as Aura's Prediction Princess cards but she's still missing from the game while Aura is included.

There isn't. All Multiplayer match types have the banlist in effect by default. In Deck Select, it won't display any decks you have made that have forbidden cards in them or too many of the Limited/Semi-Limited cards.

That’s what has annoyed me about the last Yigioh games, you have to play and buy packs. Not really interested in grinding out with weaker cards at the beginning. The GBA game, where you can input the card code and you can unlock it in the game was good. That way you can put your real life deck onto the game easily.

I’ve been watching the yugioh anime on Netflix since the start of this year... I’ve been quite busy so I haven’t been able to watch all the episodes as quick as I would’ve liked to... the story campaign is great for shortening the story whilst keeping it to the point...I’m a bit disappointed that the Noah sequence in the original anime isn’t in the game... or at least I don’t think it is... because I would’ve liked to be able to take on the big 5 in duels... and then duel against Noah like how it plays out in the anime... everything else about the game is great... however the 3d animated cutscenes that were removed from the original shouldn’t have been removed but instead been allowed to toggle on and off... seeing a 3d dark magician on the playing field using dark magic attack sounds awesome when you haven’t played the original LOTD

Did they improve the Spell/Trap activation detection? When I tried the PS4 demo, the options either asked if you wanted to activate something with every trivial text box, or expected you to hold skip and hope you don't miss your window for the card you wanted to play.

Yes, that is the computer's way of indicating what you want. If a card has an effect, it will ask you if you would like to use the effect [Yes] or [No]

The thing is, there are so many instances when spells and traps can be activated that it pretty much has to ask you if you want to activate it otherwise you might miss your opportunity and then you're boned. Annoying at first, but to play Yugioh effectively it is kind of necessary

It’s an international copy of the game. Just like all other games in the Japanese estore, which get a international release, there is no need to fear any restrictions. I’ve picked up this game as well.

I'm guessing there isn't an option to speed up the animations? When you draw, play a card, etc, it feels really sluggish. Seems really similar to the old GBA games, unlike the newer ones which are a bit faster and more fluid feeling.

Its already fast but the thing that is very slow is when the opponent is doing a combo it takes forever targeting/banishing/placing counters/bringing back to the field/searching ugh, sometimes a combo does all of what I mentioned on every 2 turns and you can only imagine how long a match takes

Do you have to play with the link ruleset in the story mode? I don't care if it's forced online (granted I'd like to be able to at least duel friends without it) since I don't play multiplayer much, but I'd like to just be able to sit back and enjoy playing Yugioh the way I've always enjoyed it, especially in the 5Ds segment since that's my favorite arc with my favorite deck type (Blackwings).

Yeah you have to play with the shitty rule. Although I just play around it. Not played Yugioh for many years now myself (quite before Pendulums). I play Blackwings myself.

I recently hovering around Yu-Gi-Oh after quitting it for 2 years (yes Link Summoning sucks cock, and my opinion still persists), but man I would like play the stuff from meta prior to the announcement of Link Summonning (Yang Zing Dinos?)... Those days were the most fun days of Yu-Gi-Oh I had, despite me being salty about Konami's stupid decisions... I wish we could play the game the way players want, like add different formats ( GOAT/ TeleDad best formats imo). But you know, if you are anybody other than Konami, you are bound to be treated like a sub-human. :)

@@bling9 This is why I still use the fan made stuff like Dueling Book and Yu-Gi-Oh Pro. While they don't offer every format imaginable, they do offer more customizable ways to play with people how you like. It's also probably why it won't surprise me if\when Konami takes them down like they did Dueling Network cause why pay Konami when fans will one-up them for free.

The ruleset is active in story mode but the AIs use their story decks so unless you yourself are using Link Summons it really shouldn't affect past series duels.
