And even then it's a different situation, because successful TCGs are a thing now, so new games that are actually good go through the roof right from the start, just look at what is happening to Flesh & Blood.

Look at reprints from the last couple sets (double master and commander legends): Three Visits is about $3.50 but the original is still over $100.00 Vampiric Tutor's original Visions and 6th edition prices have _increased_ since its reprinting. Mana Drain from Legends is still an impressive $300. Grim tutor original is well over $100. OK, that last one was a Core 21 card, but still.

I don't think it matters what you're holding as long as it's not USD. Commodities are making multiple sigma moves daily. Have you see soybeans, lumber, or copper? Everything inversely correlated with the dollar is going ballistic. Buy what ever just pay attention to when the FED bank decides to tighten policy. Then you sell.

back in the early teens i sold a bunch of dual lands along with many others...used to go in a card shop and pick up dual lands for a couple dollars each...i used them...they were in good good played with condition too...still have a tons of revised

The thing to keep in mind in regards to other cards outpacing the value of duals is this: They will NEVER print a dual land as plainly efficient as the originals ever again, but they WILL continue to print more and more types of lands. We have pain lands, tango lands, shock lands, fast lands, triomes, cycling duals, and now even the dual-faced lands. We have TONS of options for lands, and we will only get more. On the flipside, more specific and powerful effects like Copy Artifact and Wheel of Fortune? Those are effects you only ever get with very real caveats now. The ones that are worth playing are limited in number, and they are NEVER going to be as good as the originals. Period. A Nekusar or Gavi or WHOEVER deck can fix their lands in any number of ways and the deck is fine, but how many wheels can they play that can function like the original, for that cost? Windfall? A miracle'd Reforge the Soul? The options are far more limited, and so those kinds of cards are gonna have a much higher premium. You don't NEED OG duals to make your mana base work, but if you're a wheel deck? You can be god damn sure you VERY much want a Wheel of Fortune, ya know?

i started in revised and have amassed a decent collection. i am holding 20+ dopps, forks, shivans, assassins, queens, fast bonds, braingeysers, copy artifacts and mana vaults. i also collect the uncommons in mass quantities. djinns, serras, clones and such. holding more of those. bought most of mine when they were a dollar a piece not to mention basic lands. i have been buying those in revised and unlimited for several years when i play with my kids i want us all to use real, authentic lands and cards. no 4th, no chronicles, no newer janky mana. i want the experience from when i was growing up. regarding the wheels... i think i have 2. duals? over 100 and still collecting long live revised!

I opened a lot of revised boosters and starter decks as a kid when revised came out. I never got a Wheel of Fortune. I had to straight up buy one at a card convention in order to complete my revised set. So even back then they weren't easy to get.

If this market activity keeps going there’s going to have to be a large spike in the four horsemen sets if a rising tide lifts all boats it just makes sense. Arabian Night’s,Antiquities, and Legends are ridiculously undervalued considering their print runs and how iconic they are to the game and even the dark is getting serious attention now long overdue.

How I learned to love white borders. When I got into magic it was the time between Antiquities and Legends which were both sold out so fast that white bordered revised was all that was available (we never got a hold of much unlimited). My friends who got into the game a few months ahead of me dominated the game with their black bordered Moxen and Lotuses. This was the time when we played for anti so we always had skin in the game and I lost card after card. No secondary market had evolved in our overseas area (Japan) yet and no one seemed to have extra good cards to sell so all I could do was open revised boosters hope for a good rare to give me a chance at winning. It seemed about 1 pack in 7 had anything powerful but even then, I could hardly when a game. Black Cards were beautiful. Only recently I discovered the Portal Three Kingdoms English edition which has a very limited print run and some interesting and powerful cards. Not easy to find but I've been seeking these out in NM condition and enjoying their unique beauty. I love their pristine, snow-white borders with unified themed art-work. There is a certain artistic symmetry to them. My heart leaps every time I find one at some LGS. White is now beautiful to me too! I'll probably never love Revised that much, familiarity breeds contempt they say but white borders on a Stone Rain or Zodiac Dragon...that's just fine.

When I think of Revised, I think of all the fun I had with my dad and friends playing Magic like 20-25 years ago. We had got tons of Revised and 4th edition cards, and had just a lot of fun with the game. Now when I think of it, that silly multi-color legend deck we made back then with its 20 dual lands, wheel of fortune, fastbonds, etc. could easily be worth a couple of 1000 dollars (not anymore, we hardly sleeved any cards, carried them around in our pockets, played them, etc.). Crazy World :-)

Legacy items that can no longer drop are worth a ton, all it takes is them to create a new item similar to the old making that power obtainable and the new items are worth just as much as legacy, the fact that its old is irrelevant. This is a trading card game, which people actually play. We arent talking baseball cards someone is going to mount on the wall and never touch.. whether the card is 20 years old or 20 days old does not make it valuable, its power does. If you would like an example, compare demonic tutor to cruel tutor. Demonic tutor would be worth 1$ if cruel tutor did not have a life penalty.
