It's okay to take as much time to revise as you need! I know with my revisions I felt rushed to get them done because it just felt silly to spend months on revisions when the story was so close to being done. But the story deserves all the marination and revision that you can stand, and sometimes procrastination might just be a symptom of your instinct that you need to take time to percolate on it and get some distance. The book Refuse to Be Done by Matt Bell was a helpful read and mantra for me during revisions to keep finding ways back into the text even when I felt a bit exhausted by thinking about the same story for so long.

Oohh, I’m intrigued by the short story and what it’s for! 👀 HELLO, KITTY!! 😻 I have absolutely loved watching your MOTHS vlogs and I will miss them! I also love writing vlogs in general. Best of luck with your MOTHS revisions! I’m excited that you’re gonna start querying soon! Love a good query vlog (when you can share). 🥰 I’m also getting ready to query. I think my query letter and synopsis are okay, but I’m waiting on beta reader feedback because I’m trying to expand the novel as I am a notorious underwriter. 😭 Maybe I’ll be ready by June or July. Don’t really know, but soon, I hope! Good luck with your short story, querying MOTHS, and starting grad school! Although I’m sad you’re not in SoCal anymore! 🥹

I'm excited about that piece too, I can't wait to share more about it! Lots of love and luck for querying-you'll be ready whenever you're ready! I'm sad about not being in California too but it's been nice to have a change in scenery haha

5:11 Funny you mention that, because I literally just started a crochet kit for a little Snoopy plushy that I saw on Instagram yesterday. First time crocheting ever, and I can tell that this is going to be a doozy, but it's still a lot of fun. "I have completely lost the plot of my life." Such a mood as always. I've been having similar issues with my writing lately. Having goals that I want to set, but then not really being able to make them because of...life just getting in the way. And then the procrastination, despite not (normally) being a procrastinator is also so real. I found your blob-style to-do list to be very interesting. It's quirky, but it looks like it works, and I think I'm going to start incorporating that into my own writing process. And yes, I'd be interested in watching a live writing stream one of these weekends, but unfortunately, my current schedule is all over the place, so I couldn't guarantee that I'd be able to make it. 😔 Good luck with grad school and querying! I know you can do it!!

I absolutely relate with writing style being influenced by what I'm reading. When I'm working on more commercial projects, it's fine, but I cannot be reading YA (or even overly commercial adult fiction) when I'm working on a literary project, or something where I want more lyrical prose.

I'm so glad I'm not the only one! I enjoy a lighter read once in a while but for my own sake I've had to put down the highly commercial stuff lol

The first few books by anyone will always be low quality - so don’t stress - just write 3 to 5 and bin them - then start again and you will be fine
