(revision) Alive | Jekyll and Hyde animatic

cw blood and death
part of my revision suite woohoo!
I was going for more fun poses / expression visibility, and positioning.
Also mapped out what was going on with the background in the bashing the poor guy part and where exactly the water should be.
ofc some questions don't need to be clarified like how many teeth hyde has.
there's still issues with fitting too many movements into too short a time but i want all my cake :)
best thing would've prob to rethink the whole flow of it, instead of trying to link the pieces together in a better way

the gremlin to ever but no, really. i love how he's kind of this freaky, uncanny beast, it reminds me of the "scary stories to tell in the dark" art. AND THE WAY HE JUST SCRAMBLES ACROSS THE GROUND ON ALL FOURS WITH THE CANE IN HIS MOUTH LIKE A DOG LIKE??? I LITERALLY SCREAMED. HES INSANE.

I find myself repeatedly watching the final sequence where he surfs off the roof. There's just so much dynamic movement and feels absolutely unhinged in a way that makes my brain go "YEEEEEEES"

I like how the complete Hyde design at the end contrasts your Jekyll design. Like they're clearly the same person, but Hyde's body still looks more in-shape than Jekyll But Hyde isn't too thin himself either, he's pretty big but like I said, in-shape. To me it makes him look powerful. A nice contrast to Jekyll's more harmless appearance.

One thing that almost every interpretation of Hyde changes is the fact that book Hyde was actually really short, almost to the point of dwarfism, so it's nice to see Hyde depicted as significantly smaller than his victim for once. But also every interpretation also goes for the original movie version where the potion makes a good person evil instead of the book where the potion only changed Jekyll's appearance and he just used it so he could live out his darkest impulses without consequences.

Oh my god this is so dynamic. Sometimes I look at those fan-made animatics and I just wish that IF Hollywood insists on making movie adaptations of Broadway musicals then they should just hire all of you guys instead of whatever "unique twists" they try to pull, it'd be an auditory and visual masterpiece.

Sealbatross, you always impress me with how you draw so loose with minimalism in your animatics and yet convey such emotion and action. I also absolutely adore your character designs and their shape language. Hyde looks so menacing and animalistic but in some scenes also so happy like he is truly feeling alive. I love at the beginning how Hyde just puts his cane in his mouth and just runs on all fours. And at 0:32 Hyde just start dancing with his victim, like he is finally feeling ALIVE, but is so disconnected from reality and the fact that he is about to murder someone. I also really love at 0:43 how Hyde just drags his victims body with the cane and his little spur of the moment excited squat afterwards. Also I adore the cane thrust up to the sky at 0:48. It really sells the excitement Hyde feels at this moment, like he has finally felt something akin to euphoria is a really twisted way after a long time and it also sets up the motion/force of him thrusting down the cane down to kill his victim. 0:58 he is so happy to commit murder. At 1:05 I like how after he falls over, lays down, and stares at the sky he just starts twitching for a bit like he is not human anymore. Also I absolutely adore at 1:08 when Hyde sings “with Satan himself by my side” he stares at one of his hands that helped his commit the murder, which just happen to be at his side. The way he rips his jacket is also very nice and his boisterous pose from the excitement/euphoria of the murder at 1:20 The last thing that really stood out to me was at 1:25 when Hyde is checking out himself in the mirror/glass, he looks so happy euphoric. I really love all of the expressions through out this animatic paired with Hyde’s ecstatic movements, especially starting after 1:20. Thank you so much for making this animatic and uploading it. You are a very wonderful and skilled artist. I just wanted to let you know that you are one of the reasons I have started to read War and Peace (Pierre is such a intellectual dumbass) and I might pick up The Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde thanks to you and if I have time after reading War and Peace. Also sorry if this comment is to long, there is just a lot of things I liked in this animatic.

oh my goodness. this is stunning, i'm literally screaming. like, it's so vivid and full of motion and always changing, the camera angle is moving, Hyde is jumping all around like a goddamn rubber ball and yet the animation is clear, easy to follow and fits to the music perfectly. how?! definitely one of my favourite animatics of all time and i've seen loads of them. i love how he changes from the monster into his human form, i love how you depict the way he moves and your artstyle is something to strive for, really. argh, i have so much to say but I am out of words. i can't stop thinking about it. it's amazing. you are amazing. keep and protect your spark. i'll be looking forward to your work!

This is the best Jekyll and Hyde animatic I've ever seen. As much as I like the pretty boy interpretations of Hyde, I also love how feral you make him look. It really sells the fact that he's meant to be a representation of the more animalistic and primitive side of humanity. (The poses you draw him in also just make him more charismatic, which makes him attractive in a freak gremlin way.)
