Hi Csongor, i thought this video was the solution but... Inching function inhibits Power-On-State operation. I set the Power-On-State function to ON or LAST STATE, but it doesn't work if the Inching function is active. I placed the sonoff device on the chandelier immediately before the light bulb, so as to use the normal light switch. In this case the Power-On-State (ON) function would be ideal if it were not for the influence of Inching. Have you ever experienced something similar? Thanks.

Hi Csongor, thanks for video. I am using Inching functionality in following setup: Sonoff 4CH with Bridge and several PIR sensors to control garden lights. And it works fine that in given time lights go off once they have been turned on by scene triggered by Sensor. However in some circumstances in to temporarily disable the Inching function and keep all lights on until I manually turn them off (like e.g. some garden night party you want your lights permanently on). Is it possible to bypass somehow the Inching please, maybe by using some proxy device and loop timer? Thanks

I don't think so. You can only turn it off yourself in the drvice settings.

Hi i am thinking of connecting a pir sensor to sonoff via an optocoupler between gpio14 and ground.now i can set the duration for sonoff controlling the light to any time i need by software itself.great feature.

hello, is it possible to make such switch off (inching) when I'm using sonoff R2 basic with tasmota (6.7) software? If yes, where I need to make change? Can someone advice?
@csongorvarga
@csongorvarga 4 жыл бұрын
Yes, it is called the PulseTime parameter: read about it here: github.com/arendst/Tasmota/wiki/commands Easiest option is to go to the webpage of your tasmota device, go to the console and type PulseTimer and the number you need. And it will be activated.

Hi there, what do you think about the security of these cloud technologies? Are they secure enough against stealing data from your phone and computer. they connect to your router and phone, can they steal critical data such as bank account passwords from your devices? please make a video dedicated to this topic.
@csongorvarga
@csongorvarga 4 жыл бұрын
I don't want to make a video, because I don't know enough about the topic so anything I say would be guesswork. I don't think that any of them are truly secure. Even the big ones like Ring have stories how issues found in the app or communication, eWelink is probably too small to receive attention and scrutiny. eWelink does not even say anything about security, I would not be surprised if the traffic between the devices and the server is not encrypted. I would be more worries about that than the actual mobile app being malicious. Tuya advertise itself using encryption between the servers and devices but still researches managed to fine a loophole in the process where they can steal the device. But where do you draw the line? Would you say don't use these for critical application. And if possible back it up with an independent system. For example if you use the Sonoff to open a garage door make sure your alarm system is wired with a door sensor which can alert you if someone else opens the door.

Thanks for your response. Essentially I'm trying to trigger my water heater to turn on upon pressing RF433 button, then turn off automatically let say 1hr later. At the same time, the water heater will also respect the schedule that I will setup. Do you know if this is achievable using sonoff?
@csongorvarga
@csongorvarga 4 жыл бұрын
@@waterbubbler44 Yes, you set the inching, and in the schedule you only need to set timers to turn the heater on and it will turn off automatically. And will work with the RF button as well. I am not sure which device you want to use, but please make it has proper rating. Basic only has a 10A relay, that is 2200W on 220V, which could be low for a water heater.

You mean in schedule I dont even have to set when to turn off the heater since inching is already enabled? That is interesting. And if RF433 switch can trigger the switch to turn on, that will be great. I think the problem is inching is limited to 60 min. If I want to achieve 3hr of inching, does it mean I have to schedule such that it turns on again before inching expire so that the counter restart? I ordered pow r2 (15A) which is sufficient for my use :) Basically I'm trying to safe energy to only have it turn on during morning and evening. Also so that I do not need to wait before I can shower. However during off schedule, I also like to have an option to manually trigger it to turn on, but it turn off 1 to 2 hour after use.
@csongorvarga
@csongorvarga 4 жыл бұрын
@Fahmi Farid Well, the inching has a limit or 3600 seconds so that is only one hour. But it applies to when you turn on my schedule, app, remote. So I suggest that you set it to 3600 seconds, so it will turn off after one hour, and if you want to run it for 3 hours in the morning or evening, you just set 3 scheduled on 1 hour and 5 minutes apart. So there will be a small gap, but I don't think it will be noticeable. But please do a test before, I have not tested these in such combination, but I believe it works this way. Test it first with a simple lamp.

Sonoff products are very unstable, I am using inching function of Mini R2 switch, if 5 times works on time ( lets say 1 min 5 sec ) , 1 time works earlier than setted inching time example 42 seconds later it turns off but setted inching time still 1 min 5 sec) . it is super annoying. I even dont think manufacturer are willing to fix it. they just ads shinny features but in reality very unstable working. I use their TH16 with sensor, that was also unstable about temprature changes. They are good toys but not reliable for anything serious
