Revisiting my past with the MPC 2000XL

In this video we time travel back to 2007 or so when I first started making beats with the mpc 2000xl. I had no manual or anything-- I just had to start with the machine, learn and use my community. Lots of convos with beat makers from my area while visiting open mic shows.

its so much better digging through disks than terrabytes of data on an enormous hard drive. there is a physicality, substance, associated with recording to small hard media. BUT i have had 100mb zip drives fail, the click of death, so i use 250mb drives and media which didn't have that problem

I got my xl back in 2008, It was my first sampler, and it's been my most reliable one as well. Still uses the floppy drive, which I actually love for the most part. I was blessed that it came with all the other goodies (ram,fx,outs) its the one sampler I know I will never part with, to many memories

Love that setup, its crazy how you have one of the greatest samplers standing up in the background the ASR10 which goes for a high price. Yeah man! that MPC 2000XL is hitting hard. Your face does it all, your like damn I'm about to go back. I'm going to subscribe, I love that old school flavor.

I had the Mpc 2000 and I really missed that analog sounds and limitations! I was able to really get creative with so little, just the Mpc and Numark turntable 💯💪🏾

They’re digital, but early lofi digital has its own sound character (8 bit, 12 bit, and 16 bit). But most people should know that by “analog”, you’re mostly talking about the a/d converters and the physical, outboard nature of old MPC’s. And it’s NOT going to sound the same as a DAW. It’s never too late to go back to the basics!

I had the MPC 2000xl back in 1999. I miss my MPC and tons of floppy disc. That beat at 540 came in hard asf. But not sure what it turned into lol. We all have those beats lol
