Glad you enjoyed David. Yes A2A have done a fantastic job with this aircraft; not only with the simulation modelling but also the persistant maintenance aspect which is rarely (if ever) seen in other vendor products. The ORBX scenery really is the icing on the cake too. Thanks for watching!

The maintenance hangar is accessible using the SHIFT 7 command (from memory). There are also other menus accessible using the SHIFT 2,3, etc commands I can't recall their exact key press off-hand, but you get the idea I'm sure. :) Cheers!

Enjoyed the movie. You did, what the veteran pilots used to call, a "Spitfire Bounce". Referring to the little hops on touchdown. A2A appear to have some accurate models, emulating "PMDG" perhaps? Linked with Orbx scenery, we cant go wrong really! Cheers.

Thanks for your comment; there are no jets by A2A Simulations (just yet) if that's what you're referring to, however I believe there are at least two jets in development by those guys (should be awesome): the F-4 Phantom and the Starfighter. Cheers.

Yes the maintenance is intriguing. I already have the Accufeel module. With these products FSX becomes almost a new simulation. Great hobby for those who cant afford the real thing;)

I have now linked to the download for this airfield in the description of this video. :) Note that you will also require ORBX EU scenery installed in order to properly use this airfield. Good luck and thanks for watching!

I can't for the life of me figure out how you managed to get that cool metallic creaking sound out of the engine at around 21:40. My spit never makes that sound after I land and cut the engine off.

UbiquitousUK I think it was introduced after one of the earlier Accusim updates. If you go onto the A2A Support Forums, there should be a 'sticky' thread which lists all the A2A Accusim update patches, if I recall correctly. Hope this helps!

Harman Motor Works Thanks, patching did the trick! I had (naively) thought that I must have the latest version since I only downloaded it a couple of weeks ago.

Really enjoyed the vid. I'm very new to FSX (SE) & I really like the A2A Spit. When I go to Elstree in FSX, the airfield (& the local countryside) is nothing like that in your vid. Is the accurate local area detail in the vid generated by the Accu-sim? If you fly off somewhere, how far does that countryside detail extend before you reach the generic (& highly inaccurate) FSX countryside? Keep 'em coming.

+Bill1949 WT Hi Bill glad you enjoyed the video! The Elstree airfield you see in this video is a payware add-on from ORBX. The stock scenery does not hold a candle to it. I have left some links in the video description if you're interested in purchasing the terrain. Accu-sim does not change any terrain or airfields, it only affects the flight/physics of the particular A2A aircraft you are flying at the time. ORBX airfields are generally pretty good and cover a reasonable region immediately surrounding the airbase. Their terrain packs also update the areas outside of the airfields as well. The ORBX website has heaps more info as well. Again, see links (www.fullterrain.com). Cheers!

+Harman Motor Works - Hi HMW. This looks great. Am I understanding correctly? The ORBX site seems to be saying that the England map will give accurate landscapes for all of England (for about £19) - but then then you can buy specific airfields, for about £14 each & which are super-accurate, as add-ons to the England map? Have I got that correct? (if so..... where's my credit card?... :o)
@HarmanMotorWorks

Bill1949 WT Yep you hit the nail on the head. Best thing is you can choose which airfields you want. All of them if you like. :D Best to check the online reviews of the different regions too though; I have heard that ORBX UK region is apparently not their strongest effort, but personally I've found it OK. Their Pacific Northwest scenery (US) however is very pretty as is their New Zealand pack. Best to take a look before investing the $$ but purely personal choice too. Cheers :)

+Harman Motor WorksThis is very helpful. I'm thinking that I might first get the A2A Cherokee & Accu-sim (these come together in a package for about £25) - then England, airfields & other aircraft can go on my Xmas wishlist (Spit 1st). Over the years I've had a couple of 'fun' lessons as b/day pressies (only amounting to 90 mins), both in Cherokee, so that plane is significant to me.Many thanks for the info & advice. (Getting very 'itchy' for this now........)

What is it that allows you to visit a maintenance hangar and interact with the crew of your b17 in the other video? I have truly never seen that before.

You can fly online, but there is no combat. I hear there are some third party add-ons that simulate combat with varying degrees of success (I've never tried these myself so far), but imo these warbirds aren't really meant for fighting anymore, they're made to be enjoyed as they have long retired and are looking for a careful owner. :)

Oh man I nearly had a heart attack when you went to flight idle straight after takeoff with the gear still down... I am going to guess you a. Don't have rudder pedals or, b. are not sure what the turn and slip indicator is for :-) You should have your canopy open for takeoff and landing also, is nice with TIR you can lean right out of the cockpit! Try to come in a little steeper on approach as well.

Hi I have started with the manual and some of the youtube intro videos including yours to get started. What hardware controls setup do you have? and how do you look around along with interact with the cockpit controls and control the movement of the plane what combination do you use? Thanks
@HarmanMotorWorks
@HarmanMotorWorks 10 жыл бұрын
Hi Paul thanks for your comment. The controls I use for FSX are the CH Products rudder pedals and throttle quadrant. When it comes to the pitch/roll axis though it depends on the aircraft I am flying: for the civilian aircraft and any other aircraft with a traditional yoke, I use the CH Products flight sim yoke. Otherwise, for aircraft such as this Spit, I plug in my (rather ancient) Thrustmaster Afterburner joystick. Works well with the CH Products rudder and quadrant too. For the viewpoint and head-tracking I use TrackIR 4 hardware (standard hat-mounted spring clip) coupled with TrackIR 5 software. Thanks for watching!

Harman Motor Works Hi I just have a keyboard and mouse....I am finding it challenging to switch between mouse yoke to steer spit and the mouse pointer to interact with the cockpit controls. Is there an easy way to switch between these that you know of. Any advise for easy of use if using just keyboard and mouse? Thanks

Paul Stanway Hmm I must admit I believe it would be quite challenging with just a mouse to control the plane as well as interact with the cockpit. I do believe however that you can quickly toggle mouse yoke/cursor mode by pressing Ctrl + Y whilst playing. This should allow you to quickly enter mouse yoke mode as needed to fly the plane or return to cursor mode to interact with the cockpit controls as needed. I would recommend obtaining at least a simple joystick for general flying, but I wouldn't say it's impossible to fly with just a keyboard and mouse either. Cheers!

hi i'm brand new to the channel and the game what it is all about I mean did you buy this plane online or is it automatically in the game itself and when you talk to the tower what happens if you don't ask to take off in the game? I know these questions are a bit wierd but just curious I would like to get this game please reply and keep up the great videos! :)

ben adams Thanks for your comment. I actually bought this plane online from a 3rd party developer, called A2A Simulations. If you Google them you can visit their site. There's no requirement to ask for tower permission in-game, but it certainly helps with realism and if there's any AI planes around, you may collide into them (worst case scenario). Also - if you're flying online, it's always good to announce your intentions to all others in the sky. Thanks and glad you're enjoying the videos!
