FSX A2A Spitfire Mk1a Takeoff and Landing

A quick take off and landing procedure in the A2A Spitfire Mk1a for FSX. Airport is Cunderdin regional, in WA, Australia. Admittedly the landing was not one of my best, but passable nonetheless. A slight cross-wind meant some rudder assistance was needed at the last moment.
Temperature was 23 degrees C - a touch warm, but not overly so. The radiator shutter remained fully open during the flight. Coolant temperature stayed in-check, but rose markedly during post-landing taxi back to the hangar as expected.
The generally-temperamental Merlin behaved well throughout. This aircraft and engine only has 8 hours of running time yet.

Hi Jordan, it's a tough choice believe me. :) I just ended up buying them all haha. The B17 has more systems to learn and takes more focus to fly correctly but it's also a lot more docile and may not offer you the 'thrill' of turning aerobatics like the more simple Spitfire can. On the ground: keep radiator flap open fully & get into the air asap once your engine has started esp. on warm days. Try to choose the shortest taxi route but if you need to taxi for long distances, get up to around 20mph for some airflow on the ground. Flaps up immediately after landing as flaps hinder radiator airflow. In the air: adjust the radiator flap as needed to keep coolant temp below 120C. High power-low speed climbs will drive your temps up so keep speeds around 140+ when climbing.

Thanks for your comment. I don't believe it's possible to 'leave' the airplane, but you can (from memory) open the door latching by clicking on it. Either that, or use the Shift + 2, 3 menus for the option. Sorry if I'm being vague, it's been a little while since I've been in the cockpit unfortunately. Thanks for watching!

Thanks for your comment. I think an A2A Lancaster would be truly something special. I guess it would depend on whether A2A can get access to a (flying) real-world Lanc in order to research it. I too am having a hard time enjoying planes from other add-on developers and find myself constantly nitpicking them and comparing them to the A2A birds. Cheers.

Because the power of the Merlin is about to be unleashed throughout the airframe of the plane. ;) Seriously though, A2A Simulations spent a lot of time and effort in getting the 'harmonics' of the plane correct and I think they've done a great job here. Thanks for watching. :)

Nice vid by the way I wonder if they will ever make a A2A Accusim Lancaster like they did with the B17?, I fly nothing but Accusim these days no other addon A/C can touch these beautifull planes nuff said.

Thanks, also while taxing or landing the brakes are very powerful and almost tip me over, I haven't yet. While taxing especially when trying to get to a complete stop, I pull back the stick when I brake to try and counter-act it and it works but my tailwheel still comes off the ground. Is there anything else you can do or is that pretty much it?

Flaps will help with drag as you land; I come in at under 100mph. Also what controls are you using for brakes? Having a good set of hardware assigned to the brakes helps a lot; I use CH Products rudder pedals which have a toe brakes feature, but any set of good rudder pedals with hardware brakes will let you modulate braking power. Otherwise, maybe try adjusting the sensitivity of the brake controls in the options menu (not sure if this applies for keyboard assignments). Hope this helps.

There's not much you can do in the event of an engine fire...aside from cutting the fuel supply and diving in the hopes that you drown out the flames. Last resort would be to bail. =( Thanks for watching!

The skin and interior don’t look realistic. I’ve seen some of the in real live and this one looks like a drawing. You can’t see the differences especially from the different kind of fabrics used at all. The sound is wonderful though
