I think the biggest reason is just the way they selected. A lot of young, skilled players who were never given the ice-time in their franchises. They do not have a single player that is coasting as some players normally do when they get their big extension. Selected a lot of unproven players on deals that are soon to expire and they know that those players are the ones who are looking to prove themselves and get paid. It's a young to mid aged group of guys all hunting to be the next big thing in Vegas. Everyone on that team is giving it their best every single night and anyone who performs is going to get ice-time. None of this Guy Boucher nonsense where the veterans get the ice-time no matter their level of play.

After reading Sean Avery's book ( I know not words that I thought I would ever utter) He mentions that having a hockey game in Vegas was one of the worst ideas the league had; they put 2 showcase regular season games there at the beginning of one nhl season. Almost all players on the kings partyed and went to the strip club and nobody took the games seriously. You are starting to hear now that teams are booking their team hotels far away from the strip to avoid any temptations. If you look at their home season, you can reasonably expect that when most teams came to Vegas for their first away game at the arena they probably did the same and treated it more like a vacation and partyed it up. Now teams are starting to take it seriously, but the temptation is obviously still there. No discredit to Knights play of late this season, they are truly dominating... but it doesn't hurt to have this aforementioned home advantage in your favor.

Not wrong to say by any means, but the fact is the Knights are either the best team in all of hockey or at worst the second best, so home, away, doesn't matter. Knights are 6-1 at home during the playoffs with a blown call away from being 7-0 and 6-2 on the road, clinching all three series on the road so far.

As a local Las Vegan, I used to follow our minor league team the wranglers, it was exciting to hear were getting a team back in 2014 and everyone was excited. Everywhere I go now I see someone here that has a golden knights hat or shirt. People here are starting to love this team including myself. They are an exciting team to watch, because they keep breaking expectations, by just play good hockey it's awesome! Where ever we go this I'm proud of this team :)
