That's only on a thick steak 1 inch or thicker. That steak right there was thin and cooked Medium- well.

American steak house is not a high end restaurant... It's golden corral without the buffet. And it's a cheap for a reason. They also don't cook much there. They open a lot of boxes, and cans... Like that pie. They come straight off the back of a Sysco foods truck.

The secret to cheap and easy BBQ sauce is to mix ketchup with a little worcestershire, then drop in a few spoons of brown sugar. Maybe some pepper or cayenne if you want a bit of heat. Mix it together in a bowl and stir it with a fork. Nothin to it. Sweet and tangy, maybe some heat, and a damn sight better than the watered down ketchup this place is rolling with. It's really flexible too. Just adjust the portions to your own tastes. Plenty of cheap or local rib places use some variant of that mix. It's usually cheaper than buying a premade sauce and tastes better too!

Actually they are real baby backs... They just buy the "rear six bone" cut. Mostly because they're so cheap, cook tender, and don't take long to cook. A lot of lower end steak and chain style restaurants do that. Think Golden Corral style joints. Just about any place that only advertises a "half rack" on the menu... And even if you can order a whole rack, you'll just get two of the smaller halfs. Applebee's serves ribelettes. Literally the rib trimmings. 🤣

Not gonna lie, that Dutch Apple looked out of date with apples turning. The ribs looked like MRM style meat with synthetic bone to give the illusion they are from the ribs of the animal, this is done primarily to cut costs of course to maximise profit. So sad that your experience wasn't as hyped as the reviews - which makes me wonder are those reviews genuine?
