Back in 2016 I worked at Jimmies of Savin Rock as a teen, I worked there for 3 years and absolutely hated working at this restaurant. The Owners were rude, mainly the manager who was loud, obnoxious and would snap at the drop of a hat. I was a dishwasher and then thought being promoted to busboy was a huge step forward, I didn't have to work in the dishes anymore. I was wrong, because now I get to do both dishwasher and busboy completing and closing both ends. I would come home exhausted everyday. One day I was in a rough state and couldn't come to work, so I informed them of the situation and they told me I couldn't come back to work without a doctors note or report, I was able to get that for them and there was a huge misunderstanding and the manager yelled at me to leave telling me, "I will never be welcome to Jimmies again.". I'm gonna say it that they played favorites, if you were handsome and charming you get the red carpet treatment, if you were unfortunate you are guaranteed to work in the back and not get the same treatment. This job is still a traumatizing experience to this day and every time I see bad reviews, video reviews like this and so on. It makes me glad that I was let go, and one day I hope this place becomes a boarded up memory.

Could just be a dirty dishwashing machine. If the machine runs out of soap or not draining properly, food bits and particles get redistributed thru the machine at times.

Exactly sludge builds up in the chute alot of places get dinged from the BOH for this

IDK about the soup, that looked straight up like Progresso canned soup. I could've sworn that Progresso had the Ditalini noodles like this restaurant has, but I was wrong, but it still looks very much not fresh. Now, Progresso is good for canned soup, but it's still canned soup, and a restaurant has no business serving that. Charging for soda refills is a non-starter, period. The fish looked and sounded great, I heard that crunch. But I noticed you didn't try the items that the reviews had complained about. Also, never discount the power of carrying a camera with you on the quality of service and food you receive because of it. Glad you had a good meal, but I'd recommend trying it again without the camera setup and see if the items that were complained about were corrected.

Captain Galley's is a throwback lol. Even with them being closed for so long, I have still been there more recently than Jimmy's. I am glad they seemed to have redeemed themselves, but when I feel like a nice deep fried shellfish dinner, I go to the Sandbar about 5 minutes away. There's also Turks and Stowe's which are both in walking distance. Jimmy's has the upper hand with real estate and ocean views, but I would much rather dine elsewhere, then take a walk along the beach. I am glad they have a new chef, (they probably could use a major remodel also) but it's still a no for me.

Fried breading falling off the protein usually isn't the best sign but it doesn't really bother me if it tastes good. Also, too many places in great locations and/or with great views get lazy with their food and service and just rely on those things to keep drawing customers in. They stop caring because it stop people from coming in, at least the first visit. It's sad so I'm glad to hear Jimmy's has turned it around.

The review where they mentioned that the brother was more into the memory of Jimmy's as opposed to the actual restaurant as it is now reminds me of a place that I used to go to back in high school. Me and my buddies would go and get Italian grinders, and they were the best. I went back a few years ago as an adult after about maybe 15 years, and it was absolutely horrible.

Those mozz sticks were the best by far I’ve saw myself thick crispy cheesy pull of a mozz stick joints looked bussin off appearance alone..the fish looked to soft for my liking I would want it crispier on the exterior..the soup looked like one of those soups you cuddle up under the covers on a cold night type soup..that fudge Sunday would mess my stomach up but I’ll smoke that mf either way lol..and that black floaty in the drink is the only complaint cause that means the machine they use is dirty or something in the back is but other then that better then when you were there before much love and happy new year to you and dale and both the fams

This is what I don’t like about doing food reviews, or watching someone else do food reviews is because whenever you have a camera in someone’s face or directly in your face, people treat you differently. They put you on a different type of pedestal, and it seems like the items are better than they normally would be, because they come out sometimes too perfect because I went to a restaurant one time and the young lady kind of figured that I was a food with her because of how much food I ordered and my food came out perfect it was the best food ever had in my lifeso I’m not fully sure how to go about this we’re trying to get the same service that a normal person would have versus an upgraded service

Right down the street is one of the beat seafood places in the state. You gotta go to Stowe’s! It makes Jimmys look like a Long John Silvers. It’s a little seafood market too so you know your getting fresh food. Great fries too. Damn, I’m getting hungry. Get the seafood gumbo too, you won’t regret it!

I used to drive down from Hartford in the 70s and 80s about once or twice a year, but it got really popular, long wait and loud and the food quality went way down. I use to get the Seafood Platter with a mile high of onion rings. I think it was called Belly Buster or something like that. My last time there was in the mid 90s once and I've never been back. Maybe this Spring.

I was there a year or two ago and it was great. There is a place down the street called Savin rock. It’s a event spot and sometimes have a buffet open to the public. Worth it. Expensive but worth it.

Those Mozzarella sticks definitely dropped in the fryer when ordered them but they looked suspiciously like the same ones Chili’s, Olive Garden and lot of chains sell. You also all got fried seafood which is harder to screw up especially when dealing with clean fryer oil and looked like you may have been their first customers of the day.

I think you should have an average Joe blow go in and order for you and when the food comes out you come in because I think with how famous you are as soon as they see you out in the parking lot it’s already established that your an important person and they need to make damn sure you get the best, that’s why I say have somebody who’s an everyday Joe come order and when it’s ready you come in that will really tell you how they treat and feed the public.
