- number seed packets and test tubes appropriately - 10ml 3% hydrogen peroxide +190ml of distilled water + 1g of sugar - shake for 10 minutes? - seeds soak 24/48 hours in the freeform solution - carefully decanter liquid with partially opened lid - move seeds with sterilised tweezers - place seeds in tissue culture or soaked towels before transplanting to soil if growth isn't great? Questions, the test tube lids are air tight and the only oxygen is from the hydrogen peroxide? The water used for the seeds, simply discard each time or is there a better way of recycling the infused water? Size of tubes used? If you use a pressure cooker to steralise your tubes in the rack do they need to be a particular type?

This is all GREAT information. I especially like that you broke the formula down to Ounces and Tablespoons. I multiplied that by 5 and made a batch that would just about fit in a 48oz glass bottle. Then I use that bottle to pour over the seeds to soak in 4 different jars and store the remainder of the mixture in a cabinet away form ALL light. THANK YOU FOR MAKING THIS SO EASY! AND I love that you mentioned it's a good practice for old AND new seeds.

@@PlantCellTechnology So far plants do well with this. My current projects are some rose bush seeds, red osier dogwood seeds and colorado blue spruce seeds. All 3 varieties are old seeds and require scarification and stratification. Im hopeful that using this method with honey will yield good results. As of writing this msg, all three varieties have gotten the full treatment and have been currently sitting in the fridge for about two weeks now. I will say that a lot of seeds have swelled already which is a good indication. In about 2-3 more weeks I expect to see some germination hopefully. I will keep you posted.

I have seen and used H2O2 for the scarification of seeds. I have not left them until they germinated. I will have to give that a try. Shave days or weeks off germination would be excellent, especially for peppers in zones with a short season and limited space indoors to start early. I am curious, though, what was in the cups he transferred the sprouted seeds to. Was that just water, or was that also the solution they sprouted in. If it was just water he transferred them to, would the solution harm the sprouted seedlings if they were left in it. In the second video, these questions are still not answered either. Please clarify. Thanks.

@PlantCellTechnology

Boiling the water will not remove the solids. Now, if you are growing plants in hydroponics, the water needs to be treated anyway. Hard water with lots of minerals is usually not desired in hydroponics, as the minerals will unbalance the water and nutrients.
