My dad bought a orange one back in 1979 , our first car with a radio. I remember sitting with him on Sunday evening's listening to the Irish top 40 . I was just 12 years old. He died in 1981 . But wonderful memories of him and that orange beetle.

Mine was a 1958 if I remember correctly. It was the first with the large rear window but hadn’t got to having a gas gauge yet. we were a poor married couple and this tough economical little car sure helped us in our early married life getting my nurse wife to work at 7.30 in the snowy morning in Montreal.

Stationed in Germany in 1980 and newly married to a fellow soldier, we bought an orange, German spec, 1973 super beetle. My wife learned how to drive in that car. I loved that car, but the cost to convert the car to American specs to ship it home was too much for our budget. We sold it to another soldier before we left . Great memories from 44 years ago. We're still together. She drives an SUV now, and I drive a truck, but neither have the character, or are as fun as that old VW beetle.

@@markf4720 not a restored 70's
@markf472011 ай бұрын
@@GT.Bugger I would say it depends on more factors than that. A really good restoration on a car with decent history and low mileage, especially if it's something less usual such as a special edition, or if it has some nice upgrades. 70s bugs are definitely becoming more popular as I'm sure you know they are easier to live with and drive than the early ones.
@GT.Bugger11 ай бұрын
@markf4720 perhaps if it's fully original with low mileage and in good shape and history, then maybe. But there's just so many of them around I can't see them selling for that money. Granted, most are rotten and by that age have either been butchered by someone or in an accident. So, one in the condition I described is possible, I suppose.
@markf472011 ай бұрын
@@GT.Bugger yes, £5-6k is definitely the usual price for them in good condition. Has to be something outstanding to get more 👍
