2CG, it's Big Jim, @BarlowBrigrade, tip: get a bead reamer to dress up your pin holes before trying to install new pins...got mine at wall market... cheap in the craft section...ream both sides if the bolsters then install pins...the taper left by reamer make the pins extra strong....just a suggestion!!! Peace out!!! Barlow Madness...👍🙏😎

George, Also good to see you work on a knife that is deserving of your time. I feel for you when someone gives you a $5 clamshell camp knife & you knock yourself out for 2 days on a pointless repair, This one is worthy of your time , be proud to show that bugger off & carry proudly as well, Im always rooting for you, Man Peace...

Great job! Patients is a virtue. I make fixed blade knives and have never tried taking a folder a part. I might consider it if I need to now. Many of the quality slip joint knives were made out of 1095 high carbon steel.

Kevin the Knife Doctor did a video using the razer blade trick, you should go watch that video, I believe he did it in September if not then August for sure as it was pretty recent, the razor blade he used you can get in a pack of a dozen and the fit those utility knives, when he did it came out good and in the process he dented up the razor blade edge so I expect about two knives is all one of those blades would work for but those bone handles can get pretty brittle so you would have to be careful to avoid breaking or cracking the scales made of bone

Fantastic video George as I said before I have been in the knife game for 50 years but have never done any repairs. This was a great video showing the inner workings. Do you know if there is a supplier for knife components to restore knives? Nice job getting an old knife back into a useful knife that will last our lifetimes and then some. 😊
