What I love about this movie is that they are both so unbelievably delusional and pretentious, with their entire life (even their fights) a ritualized performance, and yet it all still feels incredibly raw and authentic.

At least staying legally separated and living in separate residences. Divorce can ruin you financially.Thats why I don't understand why people get remarried.
@RealistVK Жыл бұрын
Felt exactly the same way. Divorce supports individual choices, comfort & preference and thats exactly what one needs to live. Lifestyle evolves with needs & privacy aspects. Spme years in relationship can grow both individuals to decide what they care most about - freedom, new mature personal space where no one else has the key to disturb you (except you only let your past affect the present & future) either negatively or positively sometimes

April I doubt would be fulfilled or happy even if she was an actress and/or in Paris. That level of negativity would latch onto anything she wouldn’t like no matter what it is
@midnightcoalexpress4 ай бұрын
I literally just made this comment on another video lol. The saying “YOU go with you” is perfect for her. You can move to a new place new setting etc all you want, but WHO you are goes with you. And she was just an unhappy miserable person. If it was really about WHERE she was living she wouldn’t have been able to be happy for those few months in suburbia before she found out she was pregnant. That all came from a mindset shift. Which she could’ve continued no matter where she lived. She just didn’t like who she had become and where she ended up in life
@cherylhulting1301Ай бұрын
@@midnightcoalexpress April was unhappy before she got pregnant. You can see it in her dead eyes as she's looking at the street after taking out the garbage, in her awkward conversation with their realtor, and even in the fact she has to have the Paris discussion with Frank at all. The pregnancy just made her situation more fraught.

April's angry because she had a bad night and just wants to go home and process it. Frank keeps butting in, ignoring her requests to leave the issue alone, and trying to extort confidences she isn't in the mood to give. He clearly wants to have the argument about April's missed acting career despite her unwillingness to get into it, while he play-acts as the supportive husband. A truly supportive husband wouldn't have expected April to go out drinking with Shep and Millie after the play, would be empathetic enough to understand why she doesn't want to talk, and wouldn't make her setback all about him.
