I’ve been using a g20 direct into the board live and it has been killing it. The sound guy said he didn’t know if it was my guitar or amp or what but in the mix sounded great. Felt good too

Same. I can’t help but feel like the G20 sounds like an amp sim in real life and the D20 sounds like a real amp with character and dynamics. I need to play them both but have nowhere to try

I haven’t played a D20 but the G20 is pretty much the same just with an extra distorted channel

Great video! I’m torn between the G20 and the Friedman JJ Jr. The classic Marshall tones in JJ Jr sound great but the built in Torpedo and higher gain are tempting on the G20.

I’m sure they are both awesome! But it’s hard to beat the versatility of the G20 or D20 because they are such great pedal platforms

I got it!! Damn Happy with the sound-Even got some extra IR's with it. Biggest question(s) are: I use the Arcade mode-then the simulation mode-Still trying to figure out if I can save the simulation into a channel-which brings me to the next question- How do you switch channels-still confusing that I have a channel button plus the rotary switch which I presume is the different cabinets-Yet when I'm in Arcade mode and turn the rotary switch to 3 or whatever-It still sounds the same-Is the rotary switch good for only the Simulation mode? Thanks. Hope you are well

Awesome! I haven’t spent much time saving different cabinets to the amp but it does come stock with 6 different preset. Three are different cabinets with reverb and three are the cabinets dry. Live and in the studio I usually use the rotary switch to select a dry cabinet then use my pedal board and reverb pedal

Brilliant video (Finally-a down to earth review) Could you answer a nagging question for me? How/What kind of XLR cable would I use from the back of the G20 to my Scarlett Focusrite 2i2? Would I need an Male XLR to TRS 1/4 male jack? Subscribed X100👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍

Thanks so much I appreciate it! So I just use a regular XLR not sure what kind it is exactly but it’s the same one as if I was to hook up a microphone. So like a microphone XLR. At least that’s the one I use and it sounds great!

can you connect the g20 directly to the computer via the usb port at the back? why did you connect to the interface instead?

You connect both. XLR from amp to interface and USB from amp to computer for two notes

@@JLFulks do you need to do this to be able to use the 2notes software and listen to studio monitor? im interested because i just bought a g20, its on its way and im trying to figure out the wiring/routing. i have an hx stomp that i plan to use on the loop so i dont think id be able to use it as an interface, i dont own an audio interface yet

@@walangpakealam you can use the g20 without two notes plugged in but you will only have access to the cabs stored in the amp. If you want to be able to multiple cabs and tweak your things then just plug-in USB for two notes

Heard some people say the gain channel on the G20 sounds “thin” and weak. On your videos the sound is cool. Could you comment on that please?

I think the real thing is 6L6 vs 6v6 tubes. 6L6 thump in a way the 6V6 struggle with. Metal players wouldn't like that. However for me as a more rock oriented guitarist, this is just what I'm looking for. In a way 6V6 responsiveness and even eq make them the most modern sounding tubes. Soldano Astro uses the 6V6 as well.

No I don’t think so. It can get muddy with a les Paul but that can easily be adjusted

What DAW are you using? Have you downloaded the two-notes software? Also check the inputs and make sure they aren’t too hot they are very touchy on this amp

@@JLFulks I'm using Ableton. I recently bought the amp and am new to actual big boy amps. I'm using the Wall Of Sound app but everything sounds hollow and tinny with no girth. Also, no matter what I do I hear the sound coming directly from the amp AND the sound from the track at the same time. I don't know how to make it so I can only hear the armed track and this makes it even harder to dial in a tone.

@@alexdegiovanni1598 I’m not really hip to Ableton. Are you running an XLR out into your interface? My basic set up is the XLR out into my Focusrite interface. I then open Logic Pro and the Two notes software. I’m not sure what Wall of Sound is. But I’d definitely use the two note software. Something doesn’t seem right in your end. It could be a setting on the amp and a number of things. I’d contact Revv and ask them

I think it's was my 2i2. It was clipping no matter what I did. I borrowed a friend's ssl2 and it fixed everything.
