This was the first Kirby I laid eyes on when I was a kid in the 90s. I remember feeling sad because windex couldn’t shine it up. And now I’m older and I have diamond edition (work horse) and a G3 fully restored with the updated emptor. Both… very shiny 😊

That’s awesome, my 1st was the Heritage 2 my parents bought I was blown away by the amount of dust it pulled from couch during demo . I ended up demonstrating G3 for Kirby early 1990s then saved up and bought my G4 new which I still use daily .👍👍🔔

When I was younger I would have to buy a "new" vacuum about every 2 years because they were brand name JUNK. I've owned my Kirby now for 12 years and it runs perfectly. Pay a little more if you want a quality product.

Ok... so a 1979 Kirby with a HEPA bag.... I can't imagine why the filtration would not be equal to a modern Kirby with a HEPA bag... since , well, the bag itself is basically the filter... UNLESS there are leaks in the path somewhere on older models perhaps. I don't know.

Oh my goodness what a workout! I use a Tradition in my entry room in my home, the carpet is very short berber in there, so the tradition isn't too hard to maneuver on that carpet. Still does it's job perfectly well and I haven't converted the bag yet, I'll use up the stockpile of the original style bags first. The Bag doesn't fill too fast either, thanks to the emptor collecting all the "heavy" stuff.

Thanks for mentioning that. I had figured a Kirby would do well on berber...which is what I have... If I had a stockpile of old paper bags... (this is just me, mind you) but the HEPA bags are so much freaking better... I would almost be inclinded to toss the paper.

The sound is different to an Avalir , it seems quiet. I also noticed the light off and on. With the older Kirby can light be turned off and on? Overall, I enjoyed your video, thank you for showing that older is still good.

Light on it is a little temperamental, I did notice when editing video it was on in some shots and off in others. I’ll have to recheck the light connections on it. It is a little quieter compared to Avalir, think it’s down to the airflow as I normally half the volume of Kirby in editing , but didn’t have to with the Tradition.

The Tradition uses a metal fan that has a different sound to the plastic fans seen in the Heritage and newer models. The Omega, Omega Classic and Classic III also use the same metal fan and motor, so they sound the same too.

The G3 was the 1st self propelled Kirby in 1992 . That was the Kirby I used to demonstrate after my mom bought a heritage 2 in 1988. From that day I knew I’d only ever use a Kirby when I bought my own home .
