I have the FP3 on my 2017 Dyna Low Rider S. I love its versatility. It sounds like the FP4 is a lot more limited than the FP3. The FP3 has mapping for not only exhaust and air cleaner, but also for different size cams. The steeper price tag also seems crazy, since it only gets you a slimmer design and faster downloads and uploads. If this is the case, I would recommend the FP3 over the FP4 if it is still available.

I just flashed my 2023 Harley FreeWheeler trike with fp4. Tuner made a big improvement. More torque down low ,throttle response is a lot better. Trike runs cooler. I is a happy Boy. Trike is factory,Standard.

I had a problem with hesitation and backfiring once in a while. I changed the obvious. Old timer told me to change the battery. I thought it needed a tuner… took it to a shop and they had knowledge and called me a few hours later. Broken power wire coming from the battery.

I think the big thing with the fp4 is being carb compliant so they can just make one model and sell it in Cali as well

Does the FP3 allow for the realtime data like the FP4? I'm not certain I'll do a cam or not and if the FP3 *doesn't* do realtime data, personally I'll probably get more out of the FP4.

FP4 sensor data display is a huge disappointment when compared to the FP3. Fixed something that didn't need to be fixed! I would give up the "code clearing" function for the FP3 sensor display.

I have a 2021 Street glide Special. I installed the FP4 and it will not let you change the throttle response and Decell Pop.

I inherited my dads 2003 Anniversary Sportster…. garage kept and immaculate… the only mods are dealer installed open exhaust and a screaming eagle . I want to put the original factory exhaust back on the bike…and keep the screaming eagle.. but I am not interested in paying 15% of the bike’s value to have the ECM/EFI system reprogrammed just because it will be running a little richer. So here’s my question ; for the bike above, is there a plug and play scanner that that provide info on the the CURRENT programming / EFI Mapping, with which I can make and informed decision on “ is a remapping even necessary”…?…. Slightly rich ?….got it if the bike doesn’t like to start when it is warm, then it ,any need to be remapped… and there may be some snootiness on the plugs, exhaust valves and exhausts system. But just opening the throttle before bed time and then inspecting the plugs when the bike is cold should be a basic pre-emptive and standard mx anyway. Does this bike even HAVE a cat converter?… if not….hmmm. 2003 HUGGER..883…. Ok haters …HATE…. My dad has owned sportsters since 1492… he and his first one came over on the Santa Yommamma when he and it were running from some fairy princess king. I don’t need “ maximum performance”… ( duh…883)… but I just don’t want to break the bike and I don’t want to spend WAY too much money on MX… if it isn’t needed Thx

Sportsters were carbureted until 2007. So you would only need to re-jet the carburetor.

I have a '22 street bob and fitted one. It stopped the engine pinging when hot and made it smoother down low. The fuel economy is worse, but I want it to run richer anyway so I don't care. I still get 240kms out of a tank instead of 300kms, thats heaps for me. Engine temps are good too. I did not feel any more power, but at least I know the engine will last.

Never do business with Vance & Hines! I ordered and cancelled an FP4, they shipped it anyway. I called and got a return authorization for the new unopened unit. They never sent the fedex label they promised, so I sent it UPS, insured and tracked. They got it and never paid me in spite of multiple phone calls and promises for a full refund. It's been about a month, no refund, no return contact, no service...

Just put big radius pipes on my 2016 heritage softail. No tune. Bike sounds great but I’ve noticed a loss in bottom end torque. That instant stump pulling power in low rpm is less now. Can really notice it when engine braking as I slow down. I have to use my brakes a lot more now when before I could downshift and slow down pretty good. I got the stock 103 high output air cleaner but do have a KN filter in it. I wasn’t worried about gaining more power but didn’t expect to lose any either. Will a tuner get my stump pulling torque at lower rpm back?

@@rbowser85 Yes it has the baffles in it. Its also much better now. I guess maybe it just needed to adjust itself some. The engine braking is noticably less...But i can also shift into 6th gear earlier than i did before without lugging it. AND my MPG went up 2 miles a gallon. So it actually did gain some power and all around better than before. I guess both it and me needed a little time to adjust to the change. Turns out it already had a stage 1 tune on it with a screaming eagle breather they just used the factory air breather cover on it. But underneath the lid is a stage 1 screaming eagle breather and KN filter in it. But it had aftermarket slip on mufflers before the VH. The VH just opened it up much more which explains the engine braking loss but gain in overall power and MPG. Apparently those slip on mufflers were still pretty restrictive and not much better tahn factory ones, But im quite happy with the big radius pipes now

It’s straight garbage. Once I updated the firmware on it, it quit working. I talked to a rep at VH who said they would send me a shipping box and label so I could do I could send them the fuel pack. That was almost a month ago, and still no shipping items have arrive. I have purchased their short shots , fp4 and vo2 intake. Since their customer service sucks, I’m considering stripping all of those before mentioned items off of my bike and going with someone else. Going forward, i will never purchase anything Vance and Hines again!

No and yes. With the FP3 you could pay V&H to add another bike to your tuner.

The FP4 is EPA compliant, that's a big downgrade from the FP3

Not happy! The tuner is not good enough yet. My FP3 is perfect, the FP4 is trash. I copied the FACTORY TUNE so that I could modify that myself (experienced tuner of cars here). Without any changes to the tune, one should expect it to run EXACTLY THE SAME AS FACTORY. It does NOT. V&H change stuff in the background even with the factory tune. The tables they have changed effect things like knock retard and other timing related items. Now, with an untouched FACTORY FILE my bike detonates on rapid throttle (burst knock), pings in other places, idles erratically and just is wrong. After then trying to tune those issues out, and removing so much timing its silly, I am giving up and reloading the original stock tune and walking away from the FP4.

No offense to you but the fp4 doesn't do a thing for decel pop. They talk about 1 firecracker, 2 firecrackers or 3 firecrackers. They are full of shit . It doesn't do anything and as far as the way the bike runs...I don't notice anything at all . I wish that I could return this piece of shit but they won't take it. Save your money. Try another product.
