www.revzilla.com/arai-vector-2... The next generation Vector 2 from Arai includes improved fit performance and balance while maintaining the Arai safety standard and a Snell 2010 rating. The customizable fit and level of quality makes it a standout in the mid price tier of helmets.
The Arai Vector 2 Helmet is very much poised to make noticeable ripples in the helmet lines we offer at RevZilla.com. Check out all the details in our extensive blog here: blog.revzilla.com/2010/12/arai...

Thanks for a thorough review of Vector 2 lids....I've purchased several different helmet (Bell, Joe Rocket (HJC), Speed n Strength, Shoei....) I'm curious about Arai and heard so much about them.... "investing in my head". Anthony, you've answered all my questions Thanks!!!

I think the Arai is slightly lighter and more refined, but the Shoei RF1100 is an AWESOME helmet. The Shoei fits slightly more narrow, so if your head is more oval, the Shoei will fit better. The only drawback on the Arai is the top vent can whistle at high speeds.

I own the Arai vector 1 and it was the first ever helmet that had good quality. Let me tell you, if you come from cheaper helmets any Arai will be like your head is having a headgasm (like an orgasm but for yo head!) Recently got to test crash protection, highside on the track at 60, broke the collar bone into 5 pieces and my head hit the same time. My helmet did its job so well that when my head hit the ground i no longer thought my helmet was a headgasm and thought "Thats not comfortable."

The Arai Vector 2 has varying thickness pads, depending on the size helmet you purchase. We have several size charts on our website that can show you what options you have for changing comfort liner and cheekpads as well as what each size is shipped with. We encourage you to reach out to our Gear Geeks for a more detailed reply and help with sizing and fitment questions. ~Ali

If the Shoei RF-1100 is a better fit, I would suggest going with that helmet. The RF-1100 is a staff favorite here and a great lid. If the Vector 2 isn't oval enough, you might prefer the fit of the Arai Signet-Q, which is longer front to back than the Vector 2. ~Ali

@alexmotorider Hi Alex, the wieghts are going to be close on the two. The RX-Q is more suited for upright riding concerning shape and vent config whereas the Vector 2 is more universal. Even still the variances are small. The RX-Q will vent better than the Vector 2, but the Vector 2's new comfort liner design and adjustibility is really nice. They both are balanced well, but the balance on the RX-Q is more for sport touring / touring. - Anthony

Fitment is very close in shape, but I wouldn't recommend comparing sizes between brands as they aren't always an exact match. If you have a head measurement, I will be happy to make a recommendation! -CK
@RevZilla

The biggest difference is shape. The Vector 2 is neutral to slightly round, while the Signet-Q is extreme long-oval. -CK

Looks like you are closer to a MD, but you may need thicker cheekpads to compensate. As long as the crown is snug and not easy to slide around on your head, you should be good. -CK

How are you taking that head measurement? If in centimeters, you should be reading somewhere near 60cm. -CK

I love this helmet! I hated my HJC cl14 but I did not realize how bad it really was until I got the vector 2! This is my first helmet in this price range and I feel it was money well spent! If you are looking at this helmet as an upgrade from a lower end helmet, it is well worth the extra money.

Hey Tony! Thanks for the great review, actually this is going to be my first serious helmet. There are a couple of things that were not clear to me though. It's my understanding that you can actually replace the whole interior liner with others with different thicknesses, from 5mm to 12 mm, and here's where I'm a bit confused. What is the default liner thickness in a stock vector 2? Is it just to help get a more custom fit from a helmet that already feels quite good, but might feel better? THX!

Just bought this helmet in flat black, used in 9/10 condition. Came with 25mm cheek pads which I converted to 20mm with the help of this video. I feel this helmet is still very relevant and offers me incredible value for the $240 CAD I paid. The neck and chin pads are not removable for laundering other than that this is an amazing helmet.

What do you guys think about the Vector 2 versus the RF-1200/GT-Air for both track day riding and street commuting? It'd be impossible to optimise a helmet for everything, but I'm looking for something that can just "do" everything. The Arai and Shoei helmets seem to be the best Snell helmets at the $500-$600 price point (graphics). I'm a little leery of buying older helmets, so I'm leaning towards to the Shoei's right now... By the way, you guys are awesome with how active you are responding to questions. I've lost count of how many questions you've answered, and it really helps to narrow down the options. It's a godsend when you are talking about expensive equipment.
@RevZilla
@RevZilla 8 жыл бұрын
+Chris Pickering All three helmets are great do-it-all helmets in my opinion, so it really comes down to fit. The RF-1200 and GT-Air are pretty true intermediate oval at the crown, whereas I find the Vector 2 to be just slightly narrower at the crown. -DrewZilla

Finally narrowed my choice to Arai for my next helmet. Now deciding between the Vector 2 and RX-Q. My head shape is intermediate round oval (leaning more toward round at the temple than narrow) and the RX-Q fits great; however, I want to be sure of size (head measurement is 23" and the Medium fits like a glove). Although the sizing chart puts me in a Medium, I am wondering if I should go with a small as my measurement is "just at" 23". Will you provide some information regarding indicators that the small is too small and medium is not too big. Just want to get this right. Also, between the Vector 2 and RX-Q which has the better peripheral view (if there is a difference) and which provides the better view forward (meaning farther). My current Scorpion EXO 500 has a short view forward when in the tuck due to the helmet ridge line above my eyebrows. Hopefully, I am explaining that correctly. Anxious to pull the trigger and order one of these but I want it to be right. Thanks so much for your assistance.
@RevZilla
@RevZilla 8 жыл бұрын
+Eric Terry Both helmets offer the same peripheral vision and upward vision (they use the same SAI face shield). However, the Vector 2 is narrower than the RX-Q, so it likely won't fit you. As for sizing, you definitely need a medium. A small would be way too tight. For reference, my head measures 57.5cm (about 22 1/2"), and I wear a medium RX-Q. -DrewZilla

For the past five years I've owned an RX-Q and love the helmet except for the fact that I find it noisy at highway speed. It's been used very little, but is old in the tooth. I guess I have Dumbo ears because just about every helmet I try on except for Arai's make my ears feel like they are being curled over. Very annoying to say the least. I've tried every Shoei except for the x-14, and in various sizes, and the only one that seems to work is the Qwest XL. Unfortunately, I feel that the large is much too small and the XL is borderline too big. I've tried the C3 Pro, all of the less expensive Bell's, and the less expensive brands. Now my questions... What should I expect from this helmet as compared to my RX-Q, and how might I like the Schuberth S2? the K1R Klim? Whatever it takes at this point is what I will do. I am an intermediate oval. I would love to hear from any and all of you. Wind noise is of high priority. Thanks.
@RevZilla
@RevZilla 7 жыл бұрын
The Qwest and RX-Q are on the rounder side of intermediate oval ( I wear an RX-Q as well). The Vector 2 is narrower than the RX-Q, so I wouldn't recommend it for your head shape and ears. The Schuberth S2 is slightly rounder than the RX-Q and similar to the Qwest. Luckily, Schuberth's sizing is a half size smaller than Shoei and Arai, so an XL Schuberth should fit in between a L and XL Qwest. The S2 is also the quietest of the helmets mentioned. The Klim K1R doesn't have as much room in the ears compared to the others, so it might not be ideal. Therefore, I recommend the Schuberth S2 in XL. -DrewZilla
