Bag Wine has come a long way, red wine is preferred warm. So Bota Box and Black Box are two great options for adult beverages.

Get a reusable soft freezer pack, place between beverage cans, and wrap in towel, place in plastic bag, and Wrap again in blanket, or even middle of sleeping bag stuff sack. The wrap will act as insulation, keeping cold in, and heat out. Towel will absorb condensation, plastic bag keeps outer layers dry. Dry towel by fire while enjoying beveridge. Use bag for cleaning up campsite, or separating dirty clothes and clean.

This is one of those videos where you think, "I'll know all this stuff already" but you end up learning some things anyway. On my first trip 20 years ago I set up the tent properly but later that night I was so drunk I couldn't find it in the dark. I passed out face down on the ground outside some other tent with a snoring man inside. Happy times.

Jolly Green Biker as the producer of this video, I can tell you that both hosts rode only motorcycles during the trip and the firewood was sourced by Spurgeon on foot from the front office of the camp site. But yes, the crew did have comfy chairs and slept in RV's.

One thing I want to add before hitting the road is to adjust rear shock preloads due to the additional weight. This is important, as my friend rode out once with all his panniers and top box on the rear and his shocks bottomed out giving a rear tire tube pinch. His whole camping was cancelled as he had to tow his motorcycle back to garage.

I took a long ride up to Bill's Old Bike Barn yesterday. What a fantastic and varied collection! I thought I'd be there only a half hour or so? 3 hrs later, I had to admit to myself there was still too much to see, and I'll be going back annually. Great content you guys!

Makes such a difference! First time I was testing out carrying my girlfriend pillion and the handling felt like shit - cranked the rear preload up from 3 to 7 (only adjustability I had) and it made a world of difference.

Great episode showing the approach with two different styles/sized bikes and luggage options! My essential lightweight camping gear are a Jetboil, Aeropress, bivy sack, and Mountain House freeze dried meals. I'm jonesing to get out and explore. Thanks for the tips!

That last tip is so important. Been camping for years (out of a car), often in outback Australia and my parents always drilled it into me to clean up the campsite after. Every time I go with the boys now we scour the campsite like a search party cleaning up all the rubbish and it is disgusting how much of it is left from other campers. It's not a hard job and it keeps the outdoors looking as tidy as possible. Think I got some good tips for my first motorbike camping trip I'll do as soon as I have my bike ready, cheers boys

I do quite lot of backbacking and winter ski touring with tent accomondation. So here's few tips: a) Don't get canned food. It's awful from weight and package point of view. b) Don't bring beer. Same as a. Bring hard booze. c) DEFINITELY bring airmatress or foam under the sleeping bag. More critical the colder it gets. In motorcycle "camping" it's not life and death, but you really do not want to get any cold on your back after it's been carrying shit all day. d) When you get out of tent, get your sleeping bag out and turn it over and put it fe. over the tent. Let it dry out from your nightly sweat while you eat, etc. Even if it doesn't feel moist. e) if you are camping above freezing temperatures, use gas stove, not gasoline. It's lighter and backs better. f) Less is more. You don't need change of clothes every day. You don't need separate plates, etc, for eating. If it's not cold, don't get thermos bottle.

Good vid guys and for those just getting into the Moto Camp Groove. I have also found that a Folding/Collapsible chair and a Jetboil kit stove are essential and that some of the best gear and related advice has actually come from the backpacker hiker & x-country ski community.

Just rode the Colorado BDR route on my 2018 Honda Rally like yours. I added side and rear racks, crash bars and skid plate for a total of about 10 pounds, and had 45 pounds in three Nelson Rig dry bags. The bike was still well under max weight and handled everything very well, on road and off. My buddy carried about 45 pounds on his Versys 650 so between us we had a large tent, table, chairs, stove, cooler, food, water and supplies for a week with no problem.

I pack all food/water/heavy stuff on center rack for balance and keep soft light tent, bedding and cloths on side paniers of 300lb wr250r. acrebis illuminated hand guards which are low draw led on a separate toggle switch make for good lighting and with a new lithium ion battery i feel comfortable leaving them on for even a few hours if needed. thanks for the inspiration, I am going to that billy barn from long island this spring. awesome vid.

The new backpacking cots are a great alternative to a sleeping pad. They get you above the rocks and You can store shoes and gear underneath increasing your in the tent storage. Lastly for even more comfort add an inflatable sleeping pad on top. Don’t forget a backpacking chair. Sitting on the ground or on rocks after riding is less relaxing. Being well rested is key to enjoying the ride.

Hey guys, great channel. Regarding cans lined with plastic, as long as the contents is water based liquid, as opposed to oil-based, you're good to go with heating on a flame; the liquid prevents the plastic reaching melting point. You can literally put a plastic water bottle above a flame, and it won't melt.

Took my R3 camping this past summer. My 2 person cocoon tent didn't fit into any of my bags, had to have the batons hanging out the back. So paranoid i was gonna get there and not have em anymore. I let my friends with the campers take care of the food situation. I bought a decent bottle of bourbon to make up for it. You tend to get a lot of looks when you go rolling into a campground on a sportbike loaded with camping gear.

Mountain House meals. All you need is water, something to boil it in and a fire or jetboil type system. You'll probably bring water anyway and the mountain House meals are light and very packable.

I've never motorcycle camped, but you're right it does seem a lot like backpacking. I've done a fair amount of backpacking in my day, and small & light is definitely the key. Spurge, so you know, they make a backpacking Keurig now.

A hammock/underliner are a good space-saving option to the tent/sleep pad set up if you can find some trees nearby. Saves the space used by tent poles. Still need a sleeping bag either way, though you might get away without in warm southern nights.
