(Trying again as the links I included might have caused an issue with posting) @rewildyoursoul First off thank you for helping me along my journey in exploring these amazing instruments! I've narrowed it down to the B Celtic, and the B Celtic Double Ding. I'm finding myself a bit confused however by what I am seeing, or rather, hearing, in online videos covering these two drums. To make sure my ear was not playing tricks on me I used a tuner, and sure enough, the center note on the double ding does not register as A2, but rather E4. I even double-checked it with a tone generator and it matches E4, not A2. When checking the center note on the *single ding* version, it registers as B3, not B2. So, it is not the lowest note. The lowest note is the F#3, and there are two B3s, instead of a B2 and a B3. In this video here as well, the center ding registers the same as the southeast ding (from the video's perspective not yours as the player): B3. I've checked other videos and I'm getting the same results. In summary: Double Ding: A2 (center ding) is registering as E4 Single Ding: B2 (center ding) is registering as B3 Is this happening because of the way the dings are being hit on that center note? If not, what else could be causing this phenomenon? I'm assuming they are tuning the notes pretty meticulously. If so, why am I consistently seeing that center note registering differently than what it is supposed to register as? In the case of the double ding, the center ding should be the lowest note, but it is registering as the 3rd highest note (of 10). In the case of the single ding the difference is not as pronounced as the center ding should be the lowest note but it is the 3rd lowest note (of 9). So I'm a bit perplexed by this!

Hello Ricky! B Kurd and G Pygmy were the best two purchases of previous year for me and I'm grateful you did reviews of them. Your songs for B Kurd are amazing and I've already learned many of them. I would highly recommend B Kurd and G Pygmy to all the beginners. B Kurd is just a bit more complex than B Celtic. The first RAV Vast I've ordered was B Celtic Double Ding but RAV team was kind enough to exchange for B Kurd which is vastly more versatile for song writing. Regards! Vladimir.

I'm thinking about buying the B kurd, too, just a bit confused about where I should order it from (if I understand well, these tongue drums are manufactured in Russia). By the way, I'm based in Hungary.

Thank you so much for showing me what my rav can do. I had trouble understanding this scale for years and thought I picked the wrong one. Been following you for a while also. Much love. ❤

Very helpful. B Celtic. This video helped me decide. Thank you. Very good. I’m going to be new to this. I have some experience from junior and High school from being a 1st chair clarinet and saxophone player. But I’m 70 years old now. And have not touched a musical instrument since being 20 years old. This Pan drum thing is going to be good for me. And it’s probably going to be the B Celtic.

Once again, my friend, job well done. It won't be long, and we will all be playing inside in front of the fireplace. I love my B Celtic DD , and after a break from playing it and returning to it, I seem to play it differently than before. It seems I've broken out of the rut we often get into with an instrument. Thanks again for all your efforts & sharing your journey with us. You started us out on the RAVs.

Thank you for this review! I really enjoyed the playing styles you showed. I wish I could play a more percussive style-working on it. What I seem to play is the Celtic style? I never would of guessed. I am trying to branch out with my playing style, working on just a couple of things at once. It is simply a wonderful instrument and I have so much fun playing it!

Since I'm a beginner (I got my first RAV in February this year) B Celtic is the most used for me so far, it can be used quite successfully to create covers of songs (with a bit of transposing), I also have D Major and C Golden Gate (I've fallen in love for this one especially in the last month).

All great scales! C golden gate is a magical scale, and not so common. Very fun for melodic/ chordal playing! Thanks for listening!

May be a silly question but, with g pygmy sound wise, does it do Celtic style well? .,.. thank you for the update review, awsome as always
@ReWildYourSoul
@ReWildYourSoul 2 жыл бұрын
Hey!not silly at all. I think the easiest way to achieve that is through using a six count, for example, using note (73)….7 6 5 4. First beat the 7 and 3 as a diad, a pause for one beat, then 7654. Would be happy to show you in a lesson sometime too!

😅this is SO hard! I was almost certain that it’s the D Celtic I want but now… not sure anymore 😮 how to decide? I’m a total beginner, and what I want is to be able to use it as meditation, sound healing, just escape to another world 💫🌛

Thanks, as always for another great video! I have the RAV B Celtic minor. If I were to buy another RAV, what scale would you feel best as a harmonic pair?
@ReWildYourSoul
@ReWildYourSoul 2 жыл бұрын
Good question, I would say choosing something that is harmonically related may be limiting, as most of the B scales and d major are just iterations of the B minor. I think G Pygmy could be an amazing thing to work with for you!

@@ReWildYourSoul Thanks 🙏 I already have 6 guitars, a bass, a few keyboards etc, and the RAV adds so much to the soundscape ! I will have to find some cash and some space for the G Pygmy!!!

Hi, trying to make a decision between a handpan and rav. Do you have to strike the rav pan harder than a handpan in order to get the same sound level of a handpan? Thanks.

@@ReWildYourSoul Thanks for your response. Was on their website and they wrote about a Vast 2 version which has a thicker wall. I was looking for the Vast 1 version so I could compare the sound between the two but didn’t find it. Have you tried both?
@ReWildYourSoul
@ReWildYourSoul 8 ай бұрын
@@teegees they have don away with the distinction in the past 3 years, as they sound the same. The only reason for the difference in thickness is it changes what notes can be tuned on the tongues. So the current scales that were previously called vast 1 (again, no longer quantified this way) G pygmy, E low Pygmy, A Marmara, A Integral and my Rewildyoursoul signature scale G Mystic. Vast 2: all B scales, D major, C Golden Gate, F# insen. I would advise against letting that be the deciding factor, as the scale is more important than the steel thickness. To someone who has never played one, you would not even know the difference! Hope that helps!
