Step one, disconnect the battery! Lol got it! Thanks for the video. I have to replace mine. Had my pigtail sitting in the box for several months. A bit intimidating but your video is so clear and I believe that I can do it😊 An hour in a half later😂😂😂 Y'all, I did it!!! Yay! I had that part for 3 months. I disconnected the batter first. Has som issues with getting the wires in the butt end due the old wires being larger. Sir, thank you so much!!!!!!!

I found out that when you run the ac/heat on full blast for long periods of time. It can cause the connection to the resister to over heat. Also, cheap parts. Sometimes its the blower motor which I changed and probably Didn't need to. Anyway, thanks again. It's fixed.

As said before, you really should disconnect the battery. Also a little more work, but you should also stagger the but connections.

hey, I plan to take on this job since everybody is afraid to work on my jaguar xk even though it shares ford wiring infrastructure and easily accessible parts. I plan to disconnect the battery but what do you mean by staggering the connections? I would really appreciate it thanks.

It why are the new wires white and black. How do you know what colors go to which??? And do you cut off all that excess wire. I wish there was a part2

How did we replace the wiring harness I replaced everything and someone cut the wires when the battery was connected. No power to blower motor at all and climate control, resistor, blower motor, fuses, pigtails all were replaced.. still no power 😅

If my wires are coloured to I match to to the original colour or do I put them in order still?

Does that wire come out from the AC controls? I think I need to replace that on my car. Low voltage going to the resistor

So what causes wire too burn out?
@aleisterbroley900

From what I've read, components like that heat up because of a bad connection - in this case, usually it's the female connection that has springs inside which push the contacts firmly against the pins from the male connection, and those springs wear out, causing heat, which just increases stress on all the parts, making the connection even looser, etc. And then you get what I'm dealing with - resistor body melted, pins charred and connector melted... Although I think with mine, it was the old blower motor drawing too much current from being worn out. Been upside down and sideways in the floorboard of a Chevy Malibu, all 6'2" and 205 lbs of me ...

I'm having the same problem, I am very frustrated because keep having to replace the melted harness like every 5 months or so,ridiculous. Have you figured it out, if so tips would be appreciated thanks
@mikesmith6665

@@willsr.9154 If you are using a plug like what he is using, the wire size difference could be causing a resistance issue. Just like if you use a cheap extension cord from a plugin and plug it into a dropcord, the resistance caused by extension cord will cause it to melt. Try to find plugs using the same diameter wire vs a plug with larger wire.

@@willsr.9154 I just replaced the plug on our 06 trailblazer last night. I used the plug like the one in the video except I soldered the connections vs using the included "lead" butt connectors. I noticed that the red "hot wire" and black "ground wire" were larger than the other 5 wires. Ours melted the plug right to the resister. Pins #C & G which are (C) goes to the blower motor and (G) which is the power from the fuse. That's according to my Chilton's book wiring diagram.
