I had this thought as I was watching you work the head gate on the old chute. Those old chutes that were often made without zerks will respond well to a grease needle and Tri Flow spray lube. That is particularly necessary if you need to use the self catch head safely and with less noise. That is also a good Idea for your calving head gate. We often forget about this maintenance until we suddenly need the chute and are working alone. That can put our safety at risk when an animal that would have been caught, escapes. We need to be safe out there. Best of luck with our new setup.

How ironic, early this morning I was driving into Minneapolis when I passed a semi carrying a couple of Arrowquip things and my thought was "hey, I just recently saw those on Our Wyoming Life! Cool!" and now I get home and there's another video about Arrowquip from you in my feed.

So jealous of the new system... I looked into one last year at western ranch. I also know the feeling of tearing down your hard work for an improvement... Every year I seem to be redoing something on the corrals to help the next year... Or a cow finds a new creative way of getting out and breaking something so improvements are always a must. Can't wait to see the new system in action!

Those old WW chutes we're hard to beat!!! We still use ours, alley and corral set up has been changed/rebuilt probably four times in the last 60 years.. last time we put in a Prefert tub and alley. Rebuilt the old WW chute/scale combo, upgraded the scale with load bars, went digital!! Our set up is in a narrow space between the barn and the property line. We are replacing the line fence, and as we have leased the neighbors for the last 35+ years, I plan to add a few holding pens on their side of the line... Would love to have a hydraulic chute, but at 80 momma's, we're still good with the old WW.... Got a buddy in Idaho, he helps out a dozen or so ranches preg checking, he loves the hydraulic chutes, said 600+ in a day is easy... But with a manual chute, he said 250 and it's too long of a day. Thanks for the video!!! Love the new setup!! But it needs a scale😎

Seems between introducing the system and field testing it, you seem pretty impressed, and the fact that you're incorporating it into your existing coral. So some items I have noticed during your video reviews. 1) Looks like it could use another hitch position on the other side to make it more adjusting for towing from either side; 2) If use in an on the go portable applications, it could use some individual gates, and perhaps onboard storage for said gates, say 6-10 gates for easier straight to field use on one system; 3) Perhaps optional additional automation, such as self setup of the capture shoot or wheel that pivot up out of the way versus needing to be removed each time (pivot much like they do on a disc or plow). Otherwise it looks like you're really impressed with this system. Will this same system serve for other animals such as boars, sows, rams, uwes, pigs, sheep, goats, and farm stock, or if it strictly for steers and cows?
@OurWyomingLife
@OurWyomingLife 5 жыл бұрын
It’s pretty much for cows and calves, I’m not sure it could contain a pig :), I mentioned some of the same things in another video about having storage for panels and they told me they are working on a system like that. Thanks a bunch - MIke

Mike, I am about to do the same thing at a ranch we just purchased here in Texas. An old WW 270 system is in place now, but there does not seem to be an easy method to transfer cattle from the pastures to the working area. I would to know more about the Flow of the Cattle thru the whole system with the holding pens, etc.

well I hope you have this as a perm setup. Will be nice and save you time and hopefully money. I would rather you grow the heard vs. cut down. To bad you guys cannot irrigate some of that hay land or GOD throw more rain your way.. We had 104 inches n 2018 in Wilmington, NC, would have loved to give you 20 of it.
