Ben Solo is the grandson of Anakin Skywalker. He IS a Skywalker even if he has his father's name. Leia did not have the Skywalker name but she was still a Skywalker.

My understanding is that the SW galaxy is patrilineal-- meaning that a child'd identity is determined by his/her father's family; hence why Ben is as much a Skywalker as Luke is a Naberrie.

Matthew - Correct. Leia is a Skywalker and "twin sister" to Luke. She was adopted by the Organa family which you see at the end of episode III Revenge of the Sith. Luke however is taken to Tatooine where Obi-Wan says he'll, "watch over him." Of course you know all this already I don't have to tell ya.

Y'all realize how powerful Reylo babies could be in the Force? A mixture of Dark Side and Light Side coming together to create the most Force sensitive children known to the Star Wars lore? Sign me up! Reylo is endgame, there's no question in my mind about that. However, I don't think we'll see them make a family in IX, similar to how Han and Leia only *just* got together in ROTJ and *then* had Ben one year after the battle of Endor.

william dechant what if they introduce the twin brothers Arcaan and Thexan against Rey and Kylo's children in the future. That gives a plot for the next trilogy. The Galactic Triumvirate (FO, NR, and New Jedi Order) is what I think will be in the future should go off against a conquest hungry Eternal Empire from Wild Space. That would satisfy EU/Legends and Canon fans completely.

It was obvious that her parents were nobody though. Rey literally said "I'm no-one." And the line "whomever you're waiting for on Jakku, they're never coming back" is so obvious because they ARE DEAD. And Daisy's response to romance was in response to a question about ReyPoe. But I agree with you about them continuing the Skywalker line. I doubt Disney is ready to kill any chance of Skywalkers in the future.This franchise is the skywalkers. It would be extremely poetic to have them both as parents. And as good parents because neither of them had any. Well Kylo did but they were shit at it. To end the skywalker line and have the line so cursed is a really awful message. All the Skywalkers were terrible parents, and hopefully Rey and Kylo can fix that.

I said from after seeing TFA that Rey and Kylo will bring balance to the force by teaming up, at the time I was unsure if this would be by a romantic relationship or what but after TLJ it is more and more apparent. I can definitely see the story going this way and welcomes Reylo. I'm one of the few who doesn't want the Skywalker lineage to end because Disney wants to kill them all off to move forward with their version of Star Wars. As for Kylo and Rey they are the destiny couple the angst, drama, passion is woven tightly into their story. Its no accident that they were the highlight in TLJ. Its no accident that Rey went from loathing the "murderous Snake" Kylo to shedding tears during her force vision of his future and that future had her with them standing together. Even at the end of the movie after their fight to hold onto and possess Anikans lightsaber which anyone knows a lightsaber is a Jedis life and I'll add their heart she doesn't have hate in her eyes for him but disappointment. Kylo himself on his knees alone and broken over the choices he's made shows Reylo isn't over, Ben Solo still lives. At least I hope so and look forward to see how they can mend their broken hearts.

Daniel Blair why would I want Han Solo and Princess Leia's only child to be redeemed and not killed off is a no brainer.. I've already stated I do not want the last character with Skywalker blood to be killed off at all. It shouldn't end that way any decent storytellers not going to end them on a sour note. And yes killing off the last of them would be a sour note. As for being sour about Han Solo death the actor wanted the character to be killed off period. It sucks but that's just how it is. Han Solo would die in vain if Ben Solo isn't redeemed and lived on to continue to make ammends for his greatest sin.

@ LaBella Dawna Going by the pattern of events in Stars Wars lore being redeemed from the dark side ends in the death of the one being redeemed. One major example of such a thing was Darth Vader himself and another example was Asajj Ventress in Dark Disciple. Both Asajj Ventress and Darth Vader were dark side users that got redeemed and both of them ended up dead for it. Being redeemed from being a dark side user requires self sacrifice. No self sacrifice, no redemption. So, the odds of Kylo Ren being redeemed without being killed off isn't good if the pattern of events for dark side user characters continues and I see no reason why such a thing would change. Also, I believe Disney wants to take Star Wars in a different direction in the future which requires taking things outside of the Skywalker bloodline, which means it's quite likely that Kylo Ren will meet the same fate as his grandfather Darth Vader. Also, let's remember the fact that while Kylo Ren may carry the Skywalker bloodline he isn't a Skywalker he's a Solo and as a result the Skywalker name won't be past on to the next generation. So, future movies wouldn't be about the continuing of the Skywalker saga because the name Skywalker won't be used anymore the name Solo will be used instead.

Daniel Blair not all redemptions call for a sacrifice followed by death. I've read time and time again people saying what kind of message does it send if Kylo was to be allowed to live. Here's a thought what kind of message does it send to have a character whose been abused, abandoned left without any hope. It tells the viewer that one is only valued if they walk the straight and narrow the moment they show signs of mental anguish its ok to murder them in their sleep, replace them and just give up on them in general. And yes Kylo was abandoned left to be easy prey for Snoke who manipulated him since the womb and physically abused him as well.

@ LaBella Dawna When you go around killing people (especially your own father) the only chance you have for redemption is an act of self sacrifice. There is no way in hell that I would accept anything less as a means of redemption other than self sacrifice for those that commit murder and that is what Kylo Ren has done. If Kylo Ren doesn't do an act of self sacrifice I won't consider him to be redeemed. Case closed.

Absolutely! The splendid setup for their relationship that we have already seen can't be for nothing. He has to be longing for her now. That last shot at the ramp of the Millennium Falcon showed that. He has absolutely no-one else to talk to, not even Snoke with that "the grace of your training" crap. All he can do is sit in his quarters and talk to the Darth Vader mask. They had a connection, and he can't forget that, no matter how many times he tells other people, "I will destroy her", or some such sentiment.

Yes, Ben and Rey will survive ep IX and have a family. The next trilogy will be about the sins of Ben's past haunting him and his family. And it's up to Ben and Rey's child to change the galaxy's perspective of Skywalkers. Maybe for once we get a Skywalker who loves and embraces his family. The sins of the father is passed down to the son/daughter kind of trope.

I don’t think he will survive. As he is dead in current canon. I do however believe she will have he’s children and will be impregnated through the force as Shmi Skywalker (Anakin Skywalkers Mother), once was. The potential of the Skywalker Bloodline or Solo (depending on what last name she gives them) will be crazy! As she herself technically is a Palpatine. Imagine. A mixture of the Palpatine bloodline and the Skywalker Bloodline. They would have the most powerful force sensitive children in the entire galaxy.

They will definitely have children to continue the Skywalker/Solo saga. The question is on the timing. If Rey conceives a child during Episode 9 there's a good chance they'll kill off Kylo Ren. But, if she doesn't conceive in Episode 9, but they're together, then Kylo Ren might survive. I would love to see Kylo Ren live and return in future Star Wars films. His character is so interesting and dynamic that it would be a waste for him to meet his fate in Episode 9.

Totally agree! Kylo/BenSolo is one of the most interesting character of these new films and who everyone loves to talk about. Even though he has done bad things, people still rooting for him and hoping he comes back. That speaks volumes to the level of humanity and incredible acting Adam Driver puts into him. Actually there's no real proof of Daisy Ridley saying that she's opposed to Reylo or the idea of Rey having a romantic interest. It was just some report from a Chinese tabloid without any footage, which is a stark contrast to the other interviews she has made. Even Mark Hamill who was there with her during that press conference has no recollection of that. The whole thing was sketchy, and the source has no reliable credentials at all but uses bait clicks in the past. But of course some people still took it and spread the misinformation around. So be sure to check the source since there's a lot of fake news nowadays. However, what Daisy really said during that conference is that there's nothing romantic between her and Poe.

Interesting idea, and I like it, but I don’t think they will show this onscreen. I think that Reylo is endgame but I don’t think that a pregnancy will be shown. I think Kylo will live and we may (hopefully!) get a kiss between Kylo and Rey but there won’t be much more IMO. If they leave it open they really can go anywhere in the future. Do they have kids? Does the Skywalker line end? I think they will leave that open so they can feed future books and movies to take it where they will.

I see the sequel trilogy as the conclusion to the Skywalkers’ part in fighting over the galaxy. I think something interesting Lucasfilm did with their new storyline is the fact that ONLY Han and Leia had a kid, meaning while the Skywalker lineage could possibly continue, the Skywalker _name_ is dead. The thing that Lucasfilm has always said, even when George was in charge, was that the Episode films are "the saga of the Skywalker family." Which means that by ending the Skywalker name, they can end the "Skywalker Saga" with Episode IX, BUT still continue the story of that dynasty through future non-Episode films, books, comics, games, etc. So Lucasfilm has basically found a way for them (and us) to have their cake and eat it too.

Great video! The only person that can redeem Kylo Ren is himself, Rey is the catalyst but she can't do it for him. As much as I want Reylo babies I just don't see them showing a pregnant Rey in the movie. I don't know that there's a lot of time for that, though I can see them doing something similar to MockingJay Part II where at the end of the movie we get a glimpse into their future where they have a family. But I could be wrong (hope I am!). I agree with this outcome, but think they'll meet in the middle. Don't think that Ben will be welcomed to the Rebel/republic fold after murdering so many. Would love to see Rey abandone the cause to disappear with Ben then have their kids resurface at some later point with the light/dark side groups. Plus it moves Rey away from the Mary Sue label.

I honestly don’t think Disney would have bought the rights to Star Wars just to do a couple of movies. I don’t think episode 9 will end anything. I just hope it isn’t repetitive like some stuff in the new films are. Like where is this individual spoken about in the prophecy that brings balance to the Galaxy?! Will they ever reveal who that is or are they just forgetting that and doing their own thing? I think the idea of another generation through Rey makes sense. She and Kylo have a very intense connection. It would be cool if they pursue that avenue

The name of that guy you asked, the one who wrote "The Hero of one thousand faces" is Joseph Campbell. Brandon Sanderson, author of "The Mistborn trilogy" and "The lightstorm archives series" used his name in the concept of "the campbell phenomenom", refering to a type of story very predictible, or sort of... like The Lord of the Rings or Star Wars.

About Reylo being the endgame from the start that does seem unlikely because every director had incredible freedom with the plot. Unless Disney/Lucasfilm fooled us and there are secret plot elements that shape the plot of the movies.

It doesn’t seem like having three different directors was a great idea either. It obviously caused a lot of issues with how jarring TLJ was to most of the ideas presented by TFA. It definitely has flaws for sure but I really think the general idea was there from the beginning.

You are right J.J. returning could be a sure sign for Reylo getting done if he purposefully wanted these scenes in TFA to hint at that and if he believes that such a romance would be possible after TLJ.

That other director was fired correct? It's obvious that Reylo is endgame, but one of the issues against it is that Ben will have to pay for his past crimes. Perhaps this director wanted this punishment to be death but the rest of the studio said they didn't want that as it would be way too similar to RoTJ. This whole trilogy started with self-exile, perhaps it ends with it.

Please make an updated video! Literally came on YT to search up theories about a Skywalker Force baby because my mom sort of put it in my head that Ben accidentally created life in Rey as he gave her his life force. My mom is not super knowledgeable of Star Wars, ok, but she got this idea when she watched the movie and then I come on the internet and find out a bunch of other fans also got this impression, so! Maybe not that far fetched? It would be cool only if it was an accident and Ben wasn't aware it happened. Otherwise, it would be very creepy and tarnishes Ben's redemption, imo. Naturally, the monomyth guy is Joseph Campbell. I have a copy of A Hero with a Thousand Faces. It was required reading for the Study of Mythology Through Star Wars class, it was anthropology, at Weber State University.

Something rubs me the wrong way about the claim that "Kylo Ren/Ben Solo is the last Skywalker". I never looked at it that way. I don't believe he is a "Skywalker" because Luke isn't his father. He is a Force-sensitive SOLO. But then people say, his mother is Leia.But she doesn't carry on the Skywalker name. She hasn't been a Skywalker since she was born, then she became an Organa, and a Solo once she married Han. IMO, the Skywalker line is already dead because Luke apparently never had any children in the Disney canon. No one can ever again be a Skywalker by name now, because Luke died childless. The best you can do now is just have Force-sensitive Solos, which is what Kylo Ren is. And it was bad enough that they disrespected the character of Luke by making him a coward and then killing him off - the only character who could have continued to appear in future movies - but now also they have killed off his legacy, so that he will have no genetic representation in the future. Genetically speaking, he may as well have never existed. The only thing sadder than Luke dying is Luke dying a 53-YO virgin.

It would be cool if the very last shot of Episode 9 is of Rey with a swollen belly, facing a rising (or setting) sun, or of her and Ben/Kylo holding their twins (again facing the sun). Also, I'd love it if they took Jacen and Jaina from the EU novels and reversed their roles, meaning it's the female twin who joins the dark side.
