This video is very timely for someone who’s about to move in to our newly built home without curtains yet. Thanks!

Thank you very much! I have been struggling with my kitchen window for a while now, and your guide is the most helpful I saw so far. I also followed your advices with the curtains in the bedroom and that turned out gorgeous!

I have loved the “top down/bottom up” shades ever since I learned about them. They’re pretty pricey though 😢😢

This video has been quite useful for me. We have a few parts of the house which need new window treatments, but the most awkward has to be our bay window. The frame goes right up to the ceiling, and the sills are fairly deep, not an ideal mix! 😅

I like curtains because i have sliding windows, and in the summer, i can open them from the middle or the side of the window, which means i can get a lovely breeze, by moving them out the way of the open window. You could also do this with vertical blinds.

Great video! Lots of information to apply in our new home. By the way, what depth do ceiling mounted sheer curtains (ripple fold) normally need? Want to make sure I leave the right space between TV cabinet and the wall for them. Cannot find that information anywhere. Thanks

So interesting, decades ago I made all the curtains for our first house and what a huge job that was. Do you have a video on the best colour/colours to paint walls? I now live in a cold house that faces south but with east facing bedroom windows. The house is 60+ yrs old and so just has the wood framed sash windows. Oh I should also add I prefer all white bed linen. tia

A fan from Thailand here. Thanks for another great video! A question though: My windows are right under a huge beam. And it’s a super windy&sunny side of the apartment. Is curtain/rod the most suitable? And where should I put the rod/railing? Right under the beam (and risk making the room smaller) or high up on the beam (aka mounting closer to the ceiling but the heat from the window can get through?).

Hi Reynard, I love your videos and have learned so much. I have honeycomb blinds in my very tiny living room. Would you suggest adding curtains or would it make the space feel smaller?

Can you mix window treatments styles in same room? Ex. Sliding door and windows. (6 windows 42x60 plus a sliding door)

Hi Reynard ! Thank you for such informative video, do you have any recommended brand for ceiling mounted curtain rails? We have a 20 ft ceiling that’s needing curtain and I really want to invest in something with high quality because they will be hard to fix or replace. Thank you again !😊

I moved 10 months ago and I now live on the 6th floor. My privacy is no issue, because my view is at a large park. Only my livingroom and bedroom have windows. I have sheer curtains and blackout curtains for my windows. I love curtains. I really don't like (romain) blinds and shutters. I my previous house the kitchen had also windows. There I had cafe curtains.

I have outside mounted aluminium venetian blinds in my new build home, best way to keep the summer heat out ☀️ Most houses have the rollers or blinds mounted outside here in Germany, do you have any idea why this ist not really popular in the USA?
@jkkay4775 күн бұрын
I'm surprised you didn't mention biggest con of roller blinds. They're annoying as hell if you have horizontally-sliding windows or a sliding door because if you open the window or door even a little bit and the roller blind isn't completely open, any breeze makes the blind flap around and repeatedly hit the frame or architrave.

Is it better to have a uniform look and use the same treatment in the entire space or can we vary depending on the space (ex: bedroom curtains and living room roller shafes)?

Roller blinds? You mean shades? I grew up with these and would like to have them again.

Yeah we call them blinds here in Australia. But yes roller shade is the same thing.

What is the water resistant timber alternative he references at 4:19? It sounds like 'vision wood', but I dont think that's what he is actually saying...
@reynardlowell5 күн бұрын
Visionwood venetian is popular here in Australia. It's a a lightweight timber look material - they're made for the harsh weather here.
@kingfisher73085 күн бұрын
@reynardlowell ah thank you for the quick response. I don't think we have that in the UK, which would be why Google wasn't returning any results!
