I really don't think that's it. Professional assassins and their lackeys will always have their choice of guns, regardless of any gun laws for mere mortals. John Lennon was killed in NYC where guns are strictly prohibited to all but law enforcement. And the attempt on Reagan was in DC where I believe the same is true. Some say the USA has more than 10 times as many murders by gun as the European nations do. However, it's also true that we have roughly 10 times as many murders by knife as they do in Europe.

I remember being asleep and waking up to my mother screaming my brother called from New York at 1 a.m. to say that Bobby Kennedy was killed, we all jump from our bed turned on the TV and didn't move for days. It was the same exact thing that happened back in 63 when his brother was killed.

His younger sister, Kerry Kennedy, also has the condition. RFK, Jr.’s grandmother and matriarch of the large Kennedy clan, Rose Fitzgerald Kennedy, also had Spasmodic Dysphonia.

I was a sophomore at Mount Angel, not far away, and I went there to hear him. Greatly to my surprise, I got a spot not twenty feet away, almost face-to-face. When he was killed, I took it personally and I still grieve to this day.

I got to meet Mr. Kennedy last month in Charlotte, NC. I shared with him that President Kennedy as a young lieutenant had rescued a distant cousin of mine in the South Pacific. Major Warner T. Bigger Jr. and his Marines were trapped on an island. Operation Blissful. They hadn’t eaten in days. Lt. Kennedy gave them canned peaches. The Kennedys a very heroic family. I bought and read RFK Jr.’s book. Excellent. Look up Operation Blissful.

Aging Baby Boomer here .... I was raised by a mother who was a well educated college grad (1939) who was a Democrat and a father who was born and raised on a very modest farm in Ireland who came to America in 1929 at 17 and with no diplomas. But he had an incomparable work ethic, faith in himself, and a most ambitious spirit. And he was a registered Republican. So I joined the two political foundations and became a moderate. With that said RFK was a special man who I had absolute high regard for and saw him as a patriot, not a politician. I was just a high school sophomore when he was murdered. Remember it like yesterday hearing the news the morning after on the kitchen radio while having breakfast before heading to school.

I sometimes think RFK should have left politics after his brother was brutally murdered. Those times were so challenging for them in politics.
