It's possible when your country lets nearly anyone have a gun, combined with the lack of decent security back then.
@MrLTJX
@MrLTJX 4 жыл бұрын
I really don't think that's it. Professional assassins and their lackeys will always have their choice of guns, regardless of any gun laws for mere mortals. John Lennon was killed in NYC where guns are strictly prohibited to all but law enforcement. And the attempt on Reagan was in DC where I believe the same is true. Some say the USA has more than 10 times as many murders by gun as the European nations do. However, it's also true that we have roughly 10 times as many murders by knife as they do in Europe.

RFK was campaigning in the Oregon primary in the Spring of 1968, and came to talk to people in a parking lot in rural Woodburn. I was a sophomore at Mount Angel, not far away, and I went there to hear him. Greatly to my surprise, I got a spot not twenty feet away, almost face-to-face. When he was killed, I took it personally and I still grieve to this day.

If you think Esquire means lawyer, you would be wrong. It's just a self assigned title that lawyers like to put at the end of their name on business cards. The actual meaning of the word goes a lot deeper than that. Have a wonderful day.

... A young nobleman in training for knighthood... Relax, I'm a fan of the lore of the age where honor and integrity meant something. It's a word relating to personal sacrifice, service, and doing the right thing no matter what.

This is a deeply touching interview. I encourage everyone to share widely during this week and especially on June 5th which marks the 50th anniversary of Robert Kennedy's assassination ~ right after he won the Democratic nomination for president.

Aging Baby Boomer here .... I was raised by a mother who was a well educated college grad (1939) who was a Democrat and a father who was born and raised on a very modest farm in Ireland who came to America in 1929 at 17 and with no diplomas. But he had an incomparable work ethic, faith in himself, and a most ambitious spirit. And he was a registered Republican. So I joined the two political foundations and became a moderate. With that said RFK was a special man who I had absolute high regard for and saw him as a patriot, not a politician. I was just a high school sophomore when he was murdered. Remember it like yesterday hearing the news the morning after on the kitchen radio while having breakfast before heading to school.

@@jensmom604 , Yes, he was on drugs when he was young. That said, I cannot imagine what RFK’s children were going through at that time. Don’t people with problems like drug addiction have the right to change and become productive people? You are extremely close minded to judge a person about something negative in their past. No human is without flaws. You must be stupid enough to think that you are the exception…
