I just ordered this last week I'm waiting now Do you have a recommendation for a carrying case? And does it needs a screen protector?
@Daz555Daz2 ай бұрын
@@bsdontop1000 mine came with a case included from UK.Whatgeek. As for screen protection, I don't use them on stuff like this. It goes from case to hand and back to case. Why would it ever get scratched? I really only use screen protection on mobile phones.

I still prefer the RG35xxH. Not really a fan of the RGB lighting when I'm supposed to be immersed in a retro period. I think 3.5 inch is the perfect size for GBA and SNES. Not too small like the 28xx but not bigger as to make pixels noticeable. Also prefer the candy bar design compared to the PS Vita cuves, personally.
@batpixelАй бұрын
Yeah I really love the 35XX series. I was lucky enough to collaborate with MECHDIY on a bunch of those. I've been bringing the SP with me everywhere lol
@urbanknish2 ай бұрын
No compelling reason to upgrade from RG35xxH but a better choice for someone who doesn't have one. I really wish they would bump the processor up because this looks cool. The incremental buying model > they have us on a hamster wheel.
@batpixel2 ай бұрын
Yeah it's so obvious across the tech industry haha iPhone upgrades is the biggest ongoing joke. You can get more powerful chips for retro handhelds around the $200 range which I'm sure you already know about. But when these chips drop to the under $100 devices that run N64 & Dreamcast smoothly I'll be happy. But of course, then there's GameCube.. I'll get back on my wheel now.. Yours truly, -Hampixel
@Daz555Daz2 ай бұрын
I've upgraded to the 40 because the 35 is simply too small for my hands. Also the placement of key buttons is so much better on the 40.

For about $10 more it's a good choice to make over the RG35XX H for the extra screen size and better L/R button locations. Obviously, it's not really worth it if you already have a RG35XX H, unless you really need the extra size. If you want to play N64/DC you're probably looking for a Retroid RP2S, which is 50% more, and PS2 would be a RP4 Pro, and that's about three times the price.

Great video and new subscriber! Soo do you recommend not to buy the extra SD cards with 13000+ games and only opt for the 64gb storage? Thanks
@batpixel2 ай бұрын
Welcome to the channel! 🦇🎮 Yes, the extra storage card will likely break lol they are good to get backups from, but some of the games that come on them don't work properly. So best case scenario is just the 64GB and build your own game libraries with reliable cards
@mariotheophanous91442 ай бұрын
@@batpixel Thank you! Also, as a newbie to these retro handhelds, what is your recommendations as a first time buyer who knows nothing about custom firmwares etc, and just wants to buy a pick up and play retro handheld console? What one should I go for, as from what I've seen and read, the RG40XX H and the RG35XX H are the best ones for a beginner? Thanks
@batpixel2 ай бұрын
It's interesting you mention that, because I have 3 good recent options. Basically, usually handhelds come with very unreliable SD cards which break, so the pick-up-and-play aspect is risky in the long-term. That is why people install software on reliable SD cards. So in saying that, I have recently discovered these 3 reliable options for pick-up-and-play: The RG35XX SP & the RG40XX come with a reliable SD card (a blue card named Kioxia which originates from Toshiba) and also I recently reviewed a handheld named the TrimUI Smart Pro that you can order with Surwish CrossMix OS custom firmware, which is on a very reliable SanDisk SD card for a more customizable experience (On MECHdiy's website, you can buy the CrossMix SD card & the TrimUI as a package)

@@batpixel Thank you so much for your help! I've just seen that on Aliexpress, Anbernic are now using the same SD card for the extra loaded games (256gb = 11k games) Furthermore they are using the same SD card for the 35XX H version too. If this is to be the case (no surprises lol) then shall I still opt for the 40XX H version with 11k games? Thanks again my friend

I have to be honest it's a lot more comfortable than I thought it would be for its size, especially where my thumbs and index fingers are. But obviously the RG40 would be better if you have monster hands 👹

What are the other better option in this price range?
@batpixelАй бұрын
The RG35 & 40 series are pretty solid, so I'm not sure what I would consider better. But you may want to have a look at some other horizontal style options I reviewed such as the Trimui Smart Pro (with a CrossmixOS SD card), the Powkiddy RGB10 Max 3, and the Powkiddy RGB30. If you want more power, the Retroid Pocket series is great for newer consoles but the price is obviously higher

Can I link a ps4 controller on this?
@batpixel2 ай бұрын
I've had people comment they are having issues connecting PS4 controllers to Bluetooth handhelds. I use Xbox and N64 Brawler controllers, which both have options to connect via "X-Input" and they work great There is another mode called "D-Input" that may not work if that's what Playstation controllers are using. But from what I've been reading it seems like people struggle with them
@waisumedward2 ай бұрын
@@batpixel so I need to purchase a Xbox controller then secondhand one I guess cheaper
@batpixel2 ай бұрын
You could do that if the PS4 don't work. The company 8BitDo makes good Bluetooth controllers too, I know people use their SN30 line of controllers with retro handhelds. Just keep in mind when you connect a controller via Bluetooth, it will automatically connect as "Port 2" and also assigned it as Player 2 in RetroArch. So if you want to use it as Player 1, just assign "Port 2" as Player 1. The handheld itself is setup as "Port 1" already
