Magnificent! Can you imagine some poor simpleton hearing this in the 18th century? How astonishing, fascinating, and even frightening it must have been!

Hermosos sonidos y magistral maestro.

An update on this instrument. It is now properly curated, tuned and winded. I’ve had to good fortune to play it recently. There is a short video on my channel. Every year the three baroque organs of the cathedral are featured in a “Battle of the Organs” concert.

I have the same recoding, too. Helmut Rilling on the organ of the Gedächtniskirche in Stuttgart. I loved this piece to bits in my late teens.

when he hits a full organ, one can hear the pitch drop a few hertz...wind chests struggling to keep up with the demand. Those choir boys must have been pumping like heck to keep us with the demand

William Shepard the organ is now properly curated and winded. It wasn’t for very many years. I played it in 2016 and 2017. The tonal difference to this recording is incredible. My channel has a short improvisation on this organ from 2016.
@WINCHANDLE8 жыл бұрын
click between this and the EP Biggs recording, Tell me there isn't a difference in pitch. Did they retune the organ to bring it up to standard A 440? Cant imagine Ortiz is playing the piece a half-step above Biggs. One of the pieces on the Biggs album is the ring tone on my phone !!!

William Shepard Does it really matter that much? I say just enjoy it and thank God for it.

@@AL-ns1jm I think jcrr's referring to Johann Caspar Kerll; most likely this piece is by Kerll, not Cabanilles.

This piece just doesn't come across as well when played on a non-Spanish Baroque organ. organ sounds great...in tune... austere....majestic as nothing other than a Spanish organ can sound.
