The N64 brought so much joy to my household. I was a 90s kid with two brothers and a sister. That’s a total of four siblings with four controllers. Thank you for sharing this, EJ. I recently quit drinking caffeine so now I sit on my back porch in the morning, listen to some Redcow, and let the bright morning sun wake me up. 😎 I HATE when I’m too tired to get an old game or console working so then I retire to scroll through my phone! In high school, I took apart an N64 but without the proper tools. I used pliers. My hands were a bloody mess. 😅

Voultars n64 RGB mod was actually the very first mod I ever did on a console and my first soldering project. I'd definitely recommend this mod for anyone looking to get into the hobby.

I love N64. My favorite childhood console. Mario 64 is still one of my top fav video games of all time! Great couch fun with friends on this console. Super smash, Mario kart, road rash and Mario party. So many fun times. Love this channel always enjoy your content!

I never had Doom 64, but I did have both of the Duke Nukem 64 games. Which were very different to the Duke Nukem computer 2D games I played back in the 80's.

By the way: Your set up is looking very nice these days! You did a really nice job with this mod - very clean work. Though, like you said in the video: I've never modded my N64 because the difference between the RGB mod and the S-Video on a OSSC or Retrotink 5X Pro... is mostly only a color and gamma differences. I don't even think the UltraHDMI mod is that much better than S-Video and a great scaler with dialed in sampling phase where the N64 is concerned.

@@RedCowArcade Indeed. I think one of the best things about the n64, is that you don't have to feel bad just hooking it up to a CRT. No matter what you do to it, the system still looks it's age. Sometimes I actually feel FOMO or a bit of regret if I haven't modded a system or bought the best cables. N64 keeps it simple, and I too love it for that. :)

Despite the minute clarity change from S-video to RGB, I was seriously considering doing this mod (or just buying a modded N64), but now that the Analogue 3D is supposedly coming out this year, I think I'll just wait for that and play my N64 over S-video in the meantime.

I also have age appropriate CRT(80s, 90s, 00s) for each console from NES to Dreamcast. As to my knowledge, all of them are not as easy to RGB mod as yours was. 😂

I'd never mod any of my childhood systems simply because of sentimental value, but it's pretty cool what you can do with older consoles years after release. N64 is easily one of my top 3 fav consoles of all time, I only wish we got more software especially early on in its life. It's a damn shame we never got a direct sequel to Mario 64 while PS1 owners were spoiled with sequel after sequel to all of that console's most popular titles!

I think you should do the hdmi mod I know you could do it then you could play simoltaniously rgb and to a flat screen to stream. A fun mod I’ve done is solder extra ram into one to have a permanent expansion pack and you only need the jumper in to run it

Hi i have a japanese n64, but i Live in europe so all crt and scart cables are pal. as long as i caonnect it to those ,it works fine but if i use a scaler and connect it to modern tv, it's all black and white, will this solve the issue?
